Train AI: SYSTEMS

It’s fine. It doesn’t happen often.
It will happen every 25-40 minutes depending on position of trains. Usually if I’m working on something I’ll stop them all to avoid having to deal with it while I’m building.

Then I really don't know what is causing the issues. If the tracks segments are long enough, if the signals are set up correctly, if you don't have issues just after loading. Im sorry but I don't know of any other reasons the trains might ignore signals.

And I have watched them slow down at signals, then when they a re about to stop, they just speed up again.

and no, it doesnt happen when I save. it just randomly happens. i know this because i can hear them colide with each other. ive tried setting the object render to far and infinite, which doesnt help

thats the thing, ive set them all like this when these problems started occuring. doing that did reduce how often it happens, but it still happens. i have to stop all the trains when i work on part of the map to avoid having to stop what i'm doing. So yes I am still having issues.

And are you still having the issue that trains ignore the sign? if so it could also have to do with saving/loading. I have had problems with saving this very map. During the saving the trains don't seem to detect signs but they do still move. causing them to ignore the signs/signals.

ive set all the speeds before signals 15-25mph. and i set it a good distance away. all my trains have an have around 6-8 cars. and usually i put the slow signs up far enough from the signals that they will pass the sign entirely before passing the signal or stopping at a station.

Hmmm. I have herd more people talk of trains ignoring signals. I myself haven't encounterd it a lot. I can't look into the code of RL so I don't know what all the causes could be for the trains to ignore the signals. A potential cause could be the speed of the train combined with the lenght of the track. When a train is driving say 120 km/h and it is driving over some very short pieces of track let's say 8 meters. Then it is very well possible that when passing by a signal it can't slow down fast enough. Which means that the train will have passed the signal before it could stop. After having passed the signal the train won't be able to see signal anymore, so it will continue driving.

One thing I’m still confused about: sometimes in my own save the AI occasionally just forget to
Follow directions. For example: I have a station that tells them to stop for 30 seconds, then go
The other way. But sometimes the AI doesn’t stop and just drives off the track. And sometimes they don’t stop at red signals. I’m not the best person to lay tracks neatly, so the signals I’ve set up are designed to stop when a train on another track that crosses over another, to turn red, but sometimes they don’t stop. Is it just the games AI or am I doing something wrong? The signals and commands are working most of the time, and they pass with flying colors when I test them.

I'll have to go look at the crossover I believe but it is a double track system that uses a x crossover (4 switches and two tracks between. But I'll go have a look first before we can discuss this further.

All track merging systems on the map are discussed in the guide.
Or are you refering to a new system you are working on that is not on the map?

I've got an interesting question for the developer of this potentially wonderful system... and it invokes double mainlines with cross overs at the end of each block..(I'll see if I can get a picture for you. But my question is.. How do you use the signal deceivers at these junction crossovers? I'm experimenting with them now, but was just curious as to how they are set up..

The red track is the input track. You can just select the train (with the coal wagons) on the end of that track and turn on the AI of the locomotive. It should start driving to the red track then.

what car goes into the inventory system green input?

I'm glad I could help you by sharing the map aswell.

It's actually pretty helpful to see some demonstrations.
