Terrain Recovery

I think this has a bug...the space junk and crashed ship that show up at the start of the game will eventually recover after scavenging fully, but any craters created by space junk later in the game, the craters after scavenging them don't recover at all.

I cannot reproduce the FPS drop. I don't see any difference with and without the mod - my system keeps around 120 FPS in both cases.
If you see stuttering, then use the SAD_CommonLib mod option "Fix Game Stuttering". I hope it helps.

Can confirm that this mod cripples my framerate 4-5 days after either the 1st debris or meteor rain. Before this event I've got a solid 120fps which goes down to about 20fps with stutter. if I disable the mod my fps shoots back up to normal.

Thanks :p

Les options sont... optionnelles - tu peux les ignorer
DeMaxicus 9 May @ 1:14am
So cool. I was just thinking about this. Didn't understand why forest fields permanently turned the grass into soil even when they're long gone. Will give it this a try :)
injto4ka  [author] 6 May @ 2:17am
That's odd. Pls report a saved game via Ctrl-F1

Long time player here, I'm on a pretty high end system and I started to chug under 40fps (from my usual 90ish) after a couple irl hours on a new seed/game.
I noticed its CPU (not GPU), and can say with some certainty that my FPS issues are gone after uninstalling this (otherwise great) mod.
Not 100% sure if it's a combo of some other mod, I have a few installed but nothing else is terrain related.

That looks awesome! I'm sad that I didn't check mods before starting my current game. My first broken camp location is kinda ugly... But I will definitely try your mod on my next game! Good job!
injto4ka  [author] 20 Jan @ 1:45pm
I tried to introduce variable speed, but the results are not satisfying. Therefore I will not change that for now. Also the code is too complex already and there is a risk to break it.
HolographicWings 14 Jan @ 9:04am
That would be awesome, because 10 days are really few and OP ^^
Also can we have another bollean, but for the nests ?
injto4ka  [author] 13 Jan @ 2:59pm
I can easily add a global modifier for the common speed. To have a different one for every category could be more challenging.
HolographicWings 13 Jan @ 12:30pm
Hello, great mod ! Could we have a settings to increase the amount of days for every categories of recoveries ?
MaxFX 7 Aug, 2024 @ 8:00am
Thanks for the reply!!
injto4ka  [author] 7 Aug, 2024 @ 1:01am
Hi @MaxFX. I'm glad that you like it. The distance is 2-3 meters.
MaxFX 30 Jul, 2024 @ 2:50am
Hi injto4ka. This mod is awesome. I do have one question though. In the description above and in the comments here, you mention that terrain recovery is only possible when there are no buildings or debris nearby.

Can you specify 'nearby'? Is this for example four gridtiles away from the impact site?

(I've cleared a piece of fallen debris (not pre-existing) that is pretty much covering an area I'm building my base around, and the land the debris was occupying will be part of the base as well).

Thanks!!

ein fantastischer mod ganz hervorragend thx
지존A 30 Jun, 2024 @ 12:16pm
This mode does not work on jungle maps. Is it just me?
elderiii 20 Jun, 2024 @ 1:40am
Ah, I was playing on Saltu, so that would be the reason. Thanks for the fast reply. :)
injto4ka  [author] 20 Jun, 2024 @ 1:12am
I tested it by forcing the event to happen, and it does spawn a new Nest. The conditions for a new nest to spawn are to have less than 12 nests on the map, not to play on Saltu region, and to have enough space. If an error is indeed the reason, I'm unable to find it, so please check the game logs.
elderiii 19 Jun, 2024 @ 10:46pm
I can confirm that this mod does seem to prevent new insect nests from spawning. I played and entire crash landing scenario and never had a single new insect nest notification. Other than that, it's a cool addition that makes it feel like more of a wilderness setting (potentially easier too).
Cache 42 2 Jun, 2024 @ 11:11am
Pitty we can't do this on demand to flatten out a base area. So hard to find a good spot some times
injto4ka  [author] 19 May, 2024 @ 10:23pm
I'm glad it was helpful :)
sowkr99 19 May, 2024 @ 8:30am
Morning, Thank you for this mod. I recently DL this mod and really like it. Does wonders to the landscape. Reclaim impact areas and restores the land damaged by insect nests.
Cee $mag ❸ 24 Apr, 2024 @ 5:23am
I have one issue. Maybe not everyone has it. I run a cheat engine to put the game on 3x speed. with this mod, My FPS goes from 45 to 9 and goes back up to 45 Frequently, and lags horribly. I really like this mod but sadly it's unusable in my case.
injto4ka  [author] 28 Feb, 2024 @ 11:15pm
The field plants are not meant to regrow. It's a bug in the mod. Will check it out, thanks for reporting it.
munra66 28 Feb, 2024 @ 4:16pm
I know you can disable the plants recovering but I would like to have wild plants to regrow but not the ones I planted with a field... I disabled plant recover for now but if that's possible, it would be very cool
munra66 28 Feb, 2024 @ 4:00pm
the only thing that annoys me is, when I make a field for - lets say - graincob... when I delete the field, the plants will regrow in the exact space where the field was... is there a way to fix this?

BUT generally: this mod should be a vanilla game feature! nice work <3
injto4ka  [author] 24 Feb, 2024 @ 9:21am
Hey, there is a mod option to disable plant regrow. But maybe placing a few traps there would be enough.
plc.reboot 24 Feb, 2024 @ 3:45am
I love this mod. My only gripe is that when I cut down a bunch of vegetation to improve my sight lines for battle it keeps growing back. I'm trying to decide what I can do about this. Maybe put a piece of random fence here and there to discourage it. Still... love it.
Alan 17 Feb, 2024 @ 6:42pm
Does not work
Sam Mc Swagger 18 Jan, 2024 @ 4:29am
you sir are awesome :D
Works perfeclty. After a couple season you can't even tell where the nest was.
Great job, thanks
injto4ka  [author] 13 Jan, 2024 @ 12:41pm
Ok, I've managed to somehow generate the terrain from scratch so that the nests present on a new game could be fully removed.
injto4ka  [author] 10 Jan, 2024 @ 12:51pm
Unfortunately the nests are pre-existing. Will think of something.
Sam Mc Swagger 8 Jan, 2024 @ 1:03pm
Great Mod, thanks for that man.
Any chance you can add the cleared nests to the list?
Kinda sux that the red mist and dead trees stay and since it's an alteration of the original map (right?)...
Crossing my fingers :)
aef8234 4 Jan, 2024 @ 7:46am
Can you also allow rocks to "regrow" after being mined around rocky mountains? Doesn't have to be ore. I just use concrete a lot.
Omega13 2 Jan, 2024 @ 4:22pm
In my headcanon, I pretend the permanent dead areas created by the initial wrecks are due to some lingering radiation or the like. After all, that stuff came from wrecked spaceships. Who knows what was in there.
injto4ka  [author] 2 Jan, 2024 @ 6:33am
The existing debris are placed during the map generation. There is no information what was the map before that. Therefore nothing could be restored there. At the other hand, if the terrain has to be landscaped to a specific form, by the survivors, that would require a lot of work. And it would fight with the current mod logic, that tries to recover any modified terrain.
tatyana-gold 2 Jan, 2024 @ 1:58am
I really like your mod, but most often the group is thrown onto a map strewn with old debris and after dismantling them, numerous dents remain on the ground, and where the soil is leveled there is no way to plant anything, it is “not suitable” for use. It would be very good if you could add a function to this wonderful mod of yours to level out old dents and restore the soil for planting crops on it. Thank you.
Omega13 29 Dec, 2023 @ 11:57am
Probably makes the game a little bit easier, but also makes the world a lot less silly. Great mod.
injto4ka  [author] 5 Dec, 2023 @ 3:45am
The logs can be opened in any text editor . You can recognize easily the errors inside, they are a large chinks of text with file paths to the code files involved. Please try using the bug report discussion for this mod to place the errors found.
Jayshua_Lyn 5 Dec, 2023 @ 12:10am
This mod is cool!

But it keeps throwing errors and the options aren't working after saving/loading/errors... My trees all start coming back when I have the plant option off and so do all other plants. Not sure what is causing it! I have logs but I am not sure how to read them or what to look for!
Jaggid Edje 29 Nov, 2023 @ 4:54pm
Yes, without a field in place it will slowly revert the soil back to whatever it originally was.

This mod now has the ability to have components toggled on and off in options now though. You could always just go into options and toggle soil recovery off while the field was removed, and then just turn it back on later when you have the field back in place.

Or just play with that part of the mod off all the time, and just use it for the regrowth of wild plants, grass, and re-leveling of crash impact sites.
viirinsoftworks 28 Nov, 2023 @ 7:37pm
Excellent mod, been having fun with it for awhile. How far away do you need a building to be in order to cancel the terrain recovery? I'm trying to turn the desert green with mulchtube upgrades and need to know.
John Halo 19 Nov, 2023 @ 12:44am
Great mod, love you man. wild stuff regrowing is great. Makes the world feel real instead of a sack of resources that runs out eventually.
dragonsphotoworks 18 Nov, 2023 @ 9:27am
Oh wow this is awesome and very helpful!
Jaggid Edje 18 Nov, 2023 @ 7:26am
Wild plants regrow. WHAT!!??

This mod was already fantastic, but it just got 10,000% better.
dragonsphotoworks 16 Nov, 2023 @ 10:09am
iT HAS BEEN WORKING FAR AS i CAN TELL. Ops caps.. Only lag i have had is when i have set over 2x 32 x 96 areas to build full floors, ceiling and such lol
injto4ka  [author] 16 Nov, 2023 @ 9:44am
If I remember correctly, there is a small performance cost. A compatibility code is required, that could get removed in future updates.
