I'm desperate for a government mod like this, Bug Branch has something very similar but it's not compatible with Planetary Diversity :(

Maybe. I kind of lost the files since my PC decided to stop working, but I did enjoy the concept. I'd have to rebuild it from the ground up, which may be better, actually

Is there going to be an update?

If I could go back to this, I'd definitely add more flavour to simulate the somewhat chaotic nature of a non-unified civilization

Can be use in 3.11

As of the 3.11 update, it is expected to still work.
3.11 seems to be updated today, I will try again later

That's great! Thank you.

Also my mod still works? Wonderful.

This is great, fits into the game quite well. I love using this alongside the Sovereign Nations civic from Empires Expanded.

@Not a Tomato

There should be a custom description for pacifists and it shouldn't require fanatic government. I'll look in to it. There's a weighting system behind how the game chooses the name so it's possible I messed up a number and gave pacifist too low a weight

I know it's a bit of a nitpick, but it isn't actually possible to get the Disparate Nations government type without ethic mods. Becaus even if I go fanatic pacifist I still have to add a third ethic. I know it makes no gameplay difference, but I like roleplaying. I don't know how these ehtic priorities work, but maybe make it so that the unique government descriptions only happen with fanatic ethics, while Disparate Nations is resigned to pacifists and moderates. (Or maybe I am just confused and Disparate Nations isn't an intended government type, as it has the Revered Elder leader title even if not spiritualist.)

Really love this idea. Also check out Earth 21 that was already mentioned.

@svijj I'm thinking they have resource upkeep that aligns with their ethic. Like materialists using consumer goods. I'm trying to decide on two systems though. spawn a nation for each ethic aside from those that oppose your main ethics, or spawn a nation only for those that match your empire's ethics. THen there's the matter of what benefits and drawbacks to give them which is where I'm stumped for now.

I've also got the random names implemented with some unique names for each ethic.

@ATR2400 I like this idea! I think that the nations should be considered as something you want to have on your planets, but of course they also have some upkeep or drawback, either blocking a district slot, or having some resource upkeep
ATR2400  [author] 3 Aug, 2023 @ 8:15pm
@svijj what do you think of these ideas?

I'm thinking that your nations ethics alter waht nations spawn on the surface but I'm having trouble picking between two options. Either nations emerge that align with your ethics, or nations for each ethic EXCEPT those that directly oppose your current ethics will spawn.

and then each deposit for each ideological nation should have different benefits and drawbacks. Maybe a benefit and a drawback. Like materialist adding trade value but reduced consumer good production to represent excessive consumption.
ATR2400  [author] 3 Aug, 2023 @ 3:44pm
Alright I figured out how to make the nation deposits work. Any ideas of what kinda of effects to give them?
Svijj 3 Aug, 2023 @ 4:32am
I mean if you want to make nations up, go ahead, I'm just not sure if Stellaris code can handle something like this
ATR2400  [author] 3 Aug, 2023 @ 4:17am
Yeah I've been work shopping an idea but I'm not sure if it'll be cool or if I should just stick to that "Sovereign state" idea
Svijj 3 Aug, 2023 @ 3:24am
Well, the nations don't have to necessarily have randomly generated names or anything. They can perhaps just belong to the collective faction called "Sovereign State", with the player fillung in the gaps themselves
ATR2400  [author] 3 Aug, 2023 @ 2:19am
I've already gotten started studying ways to add the nations. And some ones added when you colonise. It might be basic at first but it should be a good proof of concept

@Svijj

Thanks for your suggestions! I'm glad you see some potential here.

Unfortunately it's been many years since I've made mods for this game and I've lost a lot of skill. So this is sort of my comeback warmup as well as being made for own use so I don't have the capability to do things that are super complex quite yet.

I could look into tile blockers and I'm gonna try and get the names. The fleets thing is likely beyond me for the foreseeable future.
Svijj 2 Aug, 2023 @ 1:11am
This mod has great potential, and I hope you'll keep on improving and expanding it. The empires with this authority for now don't have randomized names, so just thought I'd let you know.

If you're taking suggestions, then I have a few you can use. I believe that in order to simulate the fact that you are playing as a group of nations with their own conflicts and interests is a few events that can pop up. For example, your homeworld should have a few unclearable tile blockers, that represent the sovereign nations. Not only that, these nation blockers could also over time appear on your colonies as well. As the time goes on, your nations will also build their own military fleets. They would be allied to you, patrol planets and act independently. However, in case of war, they will follow your own fleets and aid you in combat. The tile blocker mechanic is used in the mod called ZT's Earth 21, so you can have a look at the code there if you want
