Any plans on picking this up once again and making a patch for Alpha Skills as well?

There is a new version of VSE with apparently a new ID. Could you fix this up to make the mod manager smile again? https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3400246558

shame... ah well

of course, it could be that there isn't a mod that does the same thing per-say, but they plan on useing features here in other mods? probally not, but we can hope!

I honestly don't know but the vanilla expanded roadmap shared by Oskar (the lead) does not include anything related to vanilla skills expanded. Its actually quite sad honestly. VSE causes world gen errors, pawn gen errors, conflicts with mods like mad skills, conflicts with itself (some of its harmony patches are failing even when its loaded by itself) and so on. It used to a must include in my mod lists, given I literally have multiple mods based off of it, but in its current state, I sadly can't recommend using it.

that's weird, as the mod is made by the Vanilla Expanded team, so you'd think another one of them would pick it up...

maybe it's a mod they plan on re-releaseing, similar to how insectoids was made into a "2.0"?

Guys, for the time being, I do not recommend playing with Vanilla Skills Expanded or this mod along with it, as the original developer of the mod has left the modding scene and the mod is causing conflicts with other mods and even with itself. I'm leaving this mod up just in case people don't really mind some conflicts and bugs here and there and are willing to play through the red errors that pop up.

When it comes to the balance changes, this mod basically boosts the learning rate of all the different passions in the game, including the base game ones and the ones from VSE. It is a direct buff to all things related to learning rate.

okay, while I do plan on playing with this mod to test it, what kind of balence's do you plan to add?

maybe a simple description, if/ when you have the time and are willing? Thanks!

Should work in 1.5.

1.5?

it is quite interesting that critical passion also affects other skills, giving 125% faster learning, works funny with passion on level up mod, good mod

Excuse me if I'm being dumb, but where in the Passions.xml included in this mod can I adjust the learning rate for apathy? I don't see it included. I only see none/minor/major/natural/critical/critical other
Capataina  [author] 13 Oct, 2023 @ 9:27am
I find it very hard to believe that this mod causes anything like that. This mod is like literally 20 lines of xml code which at worst might just give you red errors.

Needs an update. When starting new game with "Character Editor" enabled, hangs before screen where have to pick pawns.
Original mod had a few changes that seemingly made a few mods incompatible, but at least "Character Editor" seemingly did not cause issues.
The Blind One 23 Aug, 2023 @ 2:04am
Oh nice, I was wondering whether it was xml accessible or not, that would do fine indeed good sir! Thank you for letting me know
Capataina  [author] 22 Aug, 2023 @ 6:00pm
Adding settings to pretty much anything in this game is a huge hassle as the game doesn't innately support settings menu's. You need very extensive c# code to create your own modding canvas and add sliders that change xml values real time and stuff. I'd suggest that if you want to change anything, just go to the mods folder and edit the XML values. It takes maybe 5 minutes, especially if you use RimPy to locate the mods folder.

Hope this helps.

Any chance you can make these changes alterable in the options?

I'd prefer something like;
apathy -> 50% learning speed
none -> 75% learning speed
interested -> 100% learning speed
burning -> 125% learning speed
natural -> 150% learning speed
critical -> 200% learning speed

Many people probably have different preferences.

(I personally think skills go up way too fast as-is in the vanilla game, except for non-passion skills, fuck me, 35% skill gain is way too slow while 150% is way too fast)
拳鸡高手泰深 21 Aug, 2023 @ 7:25pm
Yeah that makes sense. There is no way that someone's proficiency in shooting or melee will make him/her unable to learn something else. Actually, many special troops are also good at learning other skills like language, medical or cooking.
FelipeGames2000 3 Aug, 2023 @ 9:43am
"critical -> 375% learning speed

and made it so that critical gives 125% to all other skills instead of a debuff."

Sounds op... MY KIND OF OP!!!
Capataina  [author] 2 Aug, 2023 @ 9:03am
its all going to change most likely but yeah I guess if anyone wants to know they can see it here in the description right now, right now this is nothing more than a really simple patch that buffs learning speeds of pawns
TheGreenDigi 2 Aug, 2023 @ 8:49am
That's good to know, but should really be in the description of the mod as well
Capataina  [author] 2 Aug, 2023 @ 8:29am
Basically I changed passions to
apathy -> 75% learning speed
none -> 100% learning speed
interested -> 125% learning speed
burning -> 175% learning speed
natural -> 250% learning speed
critical -> 375% learning speed

and made it so that critical gives 125% to all other skills instead of a debuff.

I will soon release another mod that goes well with this one.
Capataina  [author] 2 Aug, 2023 @ 8:28am
this is going to be a part of a mod series, its not necessarily balanced to be used by itself
ferny 2 Aug, 2023 @ 7:43am
explain more bruh
