Do you know if it would be possible to expand the mod to allow elf adventurers to start with metal armor and weapons as well?

In info file, you use NUMERIC_VERISON token (spell in a wrong way maybe cause crash)
You should fix it into NUMERIC_VERSION

Hi.
You can add this, so that they can make bronze as well:
[PERMITTED_REACTION:BRONZE_MAKING]
[PERMITTED_REACTION:BRONZE_MAKING2]

Also I'm not sure if this is an actual tag for entities or not:
[PERMITTED_JOB:FORGE_WEAPON]
[PERMITTED_JOB:FORGE_ARMOR]

This would make more sense, not that it really matters unless you are playing as the elven civ in fortress mode.
[PERMITTED_JOB:WEAPONSMITH]
[PERMITTED_JOB:ARMORER]

Don't be fooled by their wooden gear! Their strength lies in numbers... lots of numbers... and a few exotic beasts, too.

Definitely giving this a try! Haven't dealt with elven attacks quite yet but the thought of steamrolling them because of wooden weapons/armor doesn't sound very exciting ^^"

Oh that's really really cool! You learn something new every day.

I think Elf society will still need to be able to have MINE and FURNACE_OPERATOR jobs, and I'm not sure how to restrict which metals a civilization has access to, but that would be something extra neat to add to an update to the mod.

if you want to make this more "immersive" some plants can actually accumulate metals in their sap/ leaves to deter insects which can then be harvested. Nickel is the most common metal but plants have also be found that do it with magnesium + a few others. They are called hyper accumulators https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyperaccumulator
