@ToastnCo Sorry for not noticing your question sooner! It does work with the current patch.
ToastnCo 23 Mar, 2024 @ 7:39am
hi does this mod still work with latest patch?
wArLock 3 Feb, 2024 @ 3:48pm
@Frank Hallow [pregnancy.2003 - 2007] are specifically the 4 abortion events @ \game\events\prenancy_events
The decision making process is being handled by [pregnancy.2001-2002] @ \game\events\prenancy_events
The events are *usually* called by [pregnancy_termination_attempt_effect] @ \game\common\scripted_effects\00_pregnancy_effects

Funny thing is, you don't know if you've been encountering it or not because there is zero way to find out if the AI did it as the game works right now. Short of digging through debug logs anyway. Ideally doing it should become a discoverable secret (and why it's not boggles my brain) but that is far beyond the scope of your mod. Big enough job that it's sadly beyond the scope of my free time too. Hope this helps

I'm not too familiar with the pregnancy termination stuff (I don't really encounter it when playing), so feel free to point out if I'm missing something.
Frank Hollow  [author] 2 Feb, 2024 @ 10:46pm
@wArLock I have done some testing and I've discovered that you do indeed gain the pregnant trait even if you terminate the pregnancy, but only if you aren't married (It's weird). I had a mistaken impression because of that surrounding the secrecy aspect. I think I'll reconsider adding a memory for it as it definitely appears to be more public than I thought. I'll probably end up labelling it as a miscarriage.
wArLock 2 Feb, 2024 @ 9:29pm
@Frank Hallow Which is why I suggested it be a private memory instead of a public one. And/or making it public but masking it as a miscarriage. I can see the argument "before anyone knows" but within the context of the game it doesn't work. The pregnant trait doesn't appear until after 2 months and the character is changed to being visibly knocked up. Not to mention the spouse/father notifications go out at the same time. By the time you can end it, everyone already knows.

I knew daring to mention the dreaded "A" word would get everyone riled up. It's fine, I'll just add it in myself. Ironically this mod does it anyway just in a non-visible way: if a pregnancy ends prematurely and there is no RTN miscarriage memory then it was an abortion. All I was asking for was to not have to fill in the blank. You would think the spouse at least would remember that time his wife was knocked up and then wasn't and gave no explanation for it (since it doesn't fall under the RTN miscarriage memory)

@Warlock what a bunch of anti-abortion hogwash. Zygotes aren't "little ones." Steam is not the place of your rhetoric.
Frank Hollow  [author] 2 Feb, 2024 @ 5:06pm
@wArLock I don't think there should be memories for pregnancy termination. I believe the idea behind it is that you end the pregnancy before anyone else knows.

I love this mod. I can't believe something this important isn't a memory in vanilla.

That said, if we're going to remember the nameless then I would like it to be ALL of them and one category has gotten left out. Premature, stillborn, and (I'm really hoping this doesn't start a trollfest) ...abortions. I know people will scream that it shouldn't be known since it was done in secret so maybe make a gamerule so you can set it to show it was an abortion or an option to set it so that it only shows up as a regular premature birth.

These little ones didn't make it either and I personally don't like leaving them forgotten just because mom did it instead of nature.

Thank you! That's great!

@child_of_air Sorry, forgot to add that I'd look at the conflicting file and make a patch. Spent a few minutes and now there's a patch linked in the description.
HeirandtheSpare 14 Oct, 2023 @ 8:54pm
I see. Do you plan to make a patch at all?
Frank Hollow  [author] 14 Oct, 2023 @ 2:37pm
@child_of_air Checked the mod page and the problem is indeed the vanilla pregnancy events file. The reason stillbirths will create memories is that they're created through the vanilla birth events, located in a different file. Regardless, a compatibility patch is needed.
HeirandtheSpare 13 Oct, 2023 @ 3:54pm
"No More Pregnancy Complications or AI Abortions." I had planned to check it myself, but I've been super busy. I did want to say though that I had a short session last night, and I saw that an AI character had the memory of having a stillbirth. I haven't seen anyone with the memory about miscarriage though.
Frank Hollow  [author] 11 Oct, 2023 @ 4:07pm
@child_of_air That is almost certainly the conflicting mod. It probably modifies the vanilla pregnancy events, which this mod also does. Could you please add the name of the mod you're using?
HeirandtheSpare 11 Oct, 2023 @ 5:39am
No, I had the mod in when she had a miscarriage. That's why I was surprised there is still no memory of it. I'm wondering if it conflicts with something I have already. I do have mod that prevents the AI from seeking abortions, but I don't know if it conflicts or not. Since this mod deals with memory, I was thinking it conflicting was unlikely.
Frank Hollow  [author] 11 Oct, 2023 @ 12:21am
@child_of_air The mod defaults to creating memories for both stillbirths and miscarriages. Did your concubine have the miscarriage before you added the mod? The way the mod works is it adds the memory when the miscarriage occurs, so if the miscarriage happened before you added the mod, then there won't be a memory of it.
HeirandtheSpare 11 Oct, 2023 @ 12:04am
Oh! Nobody is getting any memories, but so far she's the only one that had a miscarriage that I know of. I only have one concubine and one wife. I did put the mod in after I already started the game though, is it default set to on or off?
Frank Hollow  [author] 10 Oct, 2023 @ 9:49pm
@child_of_air There should be memories for concubines too. I quickly started a game, grabbed a few concubines, went speed 5 and found that the mod was working correctly. Just to confirm, are there memories of miscarriages for other characters? It's possible that you have the Miscarriage game rule set to Not Memorable.
HeirandtheSpare 10 Oct, 2023 @ 11:24am
I have a concubine that had a miscarriage early on, but she doesn't have a memory for it. Does this effect every character?
Rhaenyraisms 7 Sep, 2023 @ 9:41pm
@Frank Hollow That's awesome! I'm so glad you were able to get it to work. Thank you so much for looking into it.
Frank Hollow  [author] 6 Sep, 2023 @ 11:29pm
@WolfOfProphecys I did it! I finally got it to work after examining how other memories handled stuff like that and copying them.
Frank Hollow  [author] 5 Sep, 2023 @ 7:00pm
@WolfOfProphecys I've tried that before, but I can't get it to work. I'll look into it more when I have the time.
Rhaenyraisms 5 Sep, 2023 @ 10:59am
Is there any way to make it so the memory that is created states whether the stillborn child was a boy or a girl?
