@Burndead No idea. VIET and EPE should be OK? Otherwise, look to the FAQ just above, in the description.
Burndead 17 Jul @ 12:43pm
IS this compatible with more bookmars epe, cfa, viet, CE?
Rylock  [author] 13 Jul @ 5:41pm
@c✓z Not unless I make some kind of list of said dynasties or characters. Right now, the code grabs any appropriate characters and adds them to the list, and there are only so many ways to dynamically do so (especially among dead characters).
c✓z 12 Jul @ 11:34pm
Will it be possible to later allow player characters to claim to be descendants of ancient bloodlines, as well as being the posthumous children of some dead characters, or being the heirs of some non-independent rulers, or rulers of some other cultural characters? I think the scope of paternity can be wider, just like those historical claimants.
Rylock  [author] 12 Jul @ 5:37pm
@scottytsr Depends on what you've set the gamerules to. By default, the decision disappears after the first game year, and you can't get it back... not without using another mod like, say, Gamerule Gadget and changing the ANSF3 gamerule settings.
scottytsr 12 Jul @ 6:18am
Hey is there a event to trigger the decisions? I forgot to hit it and its not there now lol
scottytsr 11 Jul @ 6:42pm
damn, too bad. Thanks for getting back to me
Rylock  [author] 10 Jul @ 4:55pm
@scottytsr There's no way I could save any information that would be accessible outside of a save, I'm afraid. So, as soon as you've started a new game, it'd be lost.
scottytsr 9 Jul @ 3:16am
I know this is random, but I love this mod so here goes. Any chance that you could add a new feature that saves your family? Maybe have a pre-set 1-5. This way you can start a new game and click 1, boom they younger twin vying for title, 3 sisters, the bastard brother and both parents just pop up, then I can edit. Not sure how hard that would be since I have NOOOOO idea how to code/mod
Rylock  [author] 26 Jun @ 7:14am
@Diego There's an FAQ about linking to dynasties in the discussion threads.
Diego 25 Jun @ 8:16pm
What determines if my character can be the bastard son of another? I am trying to make my character the illegitimate son of Bjorn Ironside but it only allows me to be either brother or son.
chops 24 Jun @ 6:42pm
best ck3 mod hands down so underrated
Rylock  [author] 12 Jun @ 6:07am
@XX // You're very welcome!
XX // 12 Jun @ 2:44am
just wanted to say thank you SO MUCH for making this mod, i like to RP in CK3 and it's amazing for that purpose. it's very much appreciated.
Blodhevn 1 Jun @ 8:16pm
@Rylock, Sorry i must've glossed over that, yep ive done that manually. Thank you for the reply and again, i really love the mod and am very grateful for your work.

I enjoy setting up the world & my characters and watch the ai play and keep track of the house. like playing god. which your mod is amazing for. For my normal campaigns i restrict myself to parents.
Rylock  [author] 1 Jun @ 6:58pm
@Blodhevn As I explain in the FAQ just above, I can't create characters who died in the past. If you're really keen, however, you can set the game rules to unrestricted and use the 'Create Family' character interaction on your own family members (provided they're not over 65). That would give you grandparents and uncles/aunts.

I wouldn't include the ability to add those otherwise, however. The point of ANSF3 is to create a sensible starting point. It's not meant as a roleplaying simulator.
scott4dges 1 Jun @ 2:56pm
LOL @CrUsHeR you got some serious QA game kid! Thanks @Rylock for all the updates.
Blodhevn 1 Jun @ 2:31pm
First off i want to thank you for the amazing mod! honestly i love it.
but i was wondering if it would be possible to get an option to create deceased members? (mostly for grandparents) mostly for immersion & a way to add unlce/Aunts maybe afterwards.

So where you can spouse, siblings, halfs, kid, maybe a tab for extended family?

So you can "create grandpa/ma" & "My grandfather in heaven/valhall" etc and an option to have them deceased 5 or 10 years ago. (instead of at start date)
Rylock  [author] 26 May @ 3:33pm
@Sqzzy Sorry, but I'm not likely to add more compatibility with any other TC mods.
Sqzzy 26 May @ 6:27am
The lifespan traits was added, but not straight after creating family. Thank u for a great mod
Sqzzy 26 May @ 6:11am
Is it possible to add the lifespan traits when used with elder kings?
CrUsHeR 22 May @ 7:38am
Alright, good job & thanks
Rylock  [author] 22 May @ 7:05am
@CrUsHeR Mmm technically setting the generated mother to be a lover is cheating, but I suppose I should account for it regardless. Should all be fixed in the latest update.
CrUsHeR 22 May @ 5:33am
Just checked to recreate the foreign child bug.
Works every time, on a savegame made during the ASNF event:

1) Both parents already generated through the event
2) Set Ruler's generated mother as his lover
3) Start Half-sibling creation
4) Option: "Mother's Daughter by another man"
5) Option: "This was a man with whom she had other children"
6) Select your Ruler
7) Option: "This is another child she had with you" (probably a bug to see this, too)
8) this screen always shows a foreign child with foreign DNA / culture / faith
9) Option: "Perhaps i'm mistaken..."

Clicking the option in #9 always kills the ruler.

For reference, the ruler and his family is Maghrebi+Zayidi ruling in 867 Maghreb.
In this try, the child always turned out as Akan+Akom so it is a regional culture.
As mentioned the child has 0% DNA similarity with the parents, either.
Rylock  [author] 22 May @ 5:12am
@CrUsHeR Okay, I think I've found out why the "other parent" is being killed off when you back out, even though they're previously existing and are flagged not to be deleted. Fixed that. Also made it so the primary spouse can't appear in the list of existing "other parents", which shouldn't happen.

As for the child generated with a different culture/faith... was this with a concubine, perhaps? Outside of that instance (where the "dominant parent" scope wasn't being set properly, which is where a child's culture and faith stems from), I didn't find any other ways a child might get created without the proper settings.
CrUsHeR 22 May @ 3:38am
And there are more bugs with the new existing parent selection.

One of the kids was generated as black west african - Pulaar culture and Roog Sene faith - while both parents were medium-skinned Maghrebi Muslims.

In this case both parents had the same DNA, but the child was generated with default settings
(backing out of this also killed my ruler)
CrUsHeR 22 May @ 3:27am
1) Starting creation of a child with an existing NPC as lover, then backing out of the process with the child already generated, kills the existing NPC

2) Creating a half-sibling while selecting your active ruler as illegitimate father, then backing out of this process, kills your ruler
Rylock  [author] 21 May @ 9:42pm
@Victor1226 Any sibling (including your own) is automatically made a Twin if they're the same age, but no - you can't assign them the trait otherwise.
Victor1226 21 May @ 6:15pm
So I cant find where I can make my brother or sister my twin. I guess it is because I cant add the trait in ruler design?
Rylock  [author] 20 May @ 3:44pm
@Abyss Thank you, that description was very helpful. I'll have a fix up for that later today.
Abyss 20 May @ 10:00am
Example 3 is still broken. It also seems my comment of creating a daughter for it is wrong. Choosing "another child with Olafr" doesn't create a daughter, it instead tries to create a half-sister for Auor if you click raised as part of the family the character is created but she is not included in the family tree although she is in the dynasty but considered just "your courtier with no relation".
knokkle 20 May @ 8:09am
Everything working perfectly on my end now. Thanks Again
knokkle 20 May @ 7:58am
Sorry for the late reply, it was actually any child I tried to create that was bugging out. Testing youre update now, thank you very much!
Rylock  [author] 19 May @ 10:56pm
Okay, I found one big issue - evidently I spent so much time testing the creation of children with the "other parent" I didn't check the ability to create legitimate children and both the son and daughter option were linking to the wrong event. *head slap*

That's fixed, now.
Abyss 19 May @ 8:47pm
Example 3: Auor (no husband): same - another child - son - man i had children with already - choose only option olafr (bugs upon clicking name, skips creation process of son, end up in some new window with the options "was my lover - man who i had other children - another child of olafr - mistaken" 1st option create a lover works normally onwards - 2nd option repeats the process that happens on bug making a constant looping option - 3rd option will go into the creation of a daughter that works but never made the choice for one.

Final example: Chieftess Katyarikka of Siun (husband): as i appear - create father - create mother - create husband - create child - son/daughter (leads to softlock)

Overall creating a lover is ok but already available husbands will not give you the option, or it might give some other random leader - Example 2, multiple tries lead to different results in whether it would offer you a father (never husband) or soft lock.
Abyss 19 May @ 8:46pm
I am running into issues all of a sudden. Examples based around starting off in 867 as female characters, main option daurama or other female characters like Auor "top left corner of map" plus others mainly in the creation of children. Might apply to male characters haven't tested.

Example 1: Daura (husband): as I appear option - father figure - another child - son - no options to choose any character to connect as a father - choose option this is wrong (doesn't go back to previous menu instead goes forward as if there was a father chosen and now soft locked, no son generated, next 4 choices un-clickable - switched character to reset)

Example 2: Daura (husband): same - father figure - another child - daughter (only option for sarkin gadi to be father, even though married) - this is wrong (soft locks as above)
Rylock  [author] 19 May @ 6:17pm
@knokkle I've tried to replicate your error and can't - I can tell that's the event where you're trying to connect the "other parent" of your child to a dynasty, but right now the text of the event works fine no matter what options I take.

So I'd need to know the steps you took in order to get there, if possible. I'm not sure how you're creating a child for your brother, for instance - are they a ruler? Did you switch character to play as them? Did you create other family members prior to trying to make this child? This might be more than you can put into a comment, so posting the steps in the "Bugs Reporting" discussion would be ideal, but otherwise unless I can replicate the issue I can't fix anything.
Rylock  [author] 19 May @ 4:17pm
@knokkle Just to be clear: this is an error with the event text only, yes? The rest of the child creation process worked as intended?
knokkle 19 May @ 2:28pm
Trying to create a child with my female rulers brother results in error. This didn't use to happen.

Error message shows in left side of screen when clicking create daughter :

I haven't thought of
ERROR:[Source_otherparent.GetHerHis] family for
some time. My Daughter's
ERROR:[Source_otherparent.GetMotherFather]
was born among the ranks of the nobility, though

This contiunes for a coupple of more lines. Thanks for the mod btw, cant play without it.
FunGaming44 19 May @ 5:02am
that sounds like some awesome updates you have done friend. Great work your doing
Rylock  [author] 19 May @ 3:49am
Big update: a number of fixes, but the biggest difference you'll notice is that the "other parent" when making a half-sibling or bastard child can now also be a former spouse (meaning their children won't be bastards) or a current lover. The "other parent" can also be edited like other characters and connected to existing dynasties, if you wish.

I've tested it a fair amount, but as usual there are likely to be edge cases I haven't considered so please let me know if you encounter anything strange.
Rylock  [author] 18 May @ 4:28pm
@gawl77 Sorry, but I'm not sure what you mean. Which family did you choose? What choice are you referring to?
gawl77 18 May @ 3:39am
Great mod, but it's a shame that when creating a character you can't have the parents and siblings of the same family you chose when creating it.
Rylock  [author] 13 May @ 6:29am
@TibViking It was more some confusion on my part as to why I was seeing the issue fixed when I used my test version, but then those same files uploaded here to the Workshop wouldn't work. I suspect it has to do with how localization is updated while a game is underway... but, yes, modding can be a bit of a pain in the ass sometimes lol
ImperiumViking 13 May @ 5:15am
Also Thanks for the mod & the updates, I know how much coding & modding is a pain in the ass.
ImperiumViking 13 May @ 5:14am
"Third time's the charm, hopefully." LMAO, it is that bad? This is why I'm holding off on becoming a modder & learn coding first.
Stannis The Mannis 13 May @ 3:24am
Yep its working again, thanks so much for your dilligence, lets hope they dont break it again XD
Rylock  [author] 13 May @ 2:47am
@Stannis The Mannis OK, it looks like they've moved their loc files into a sub-folder, so I've done the same with the compatibility loc files... and this time, I tested it by downloading this mod as if I were a user instead of my test files. It *seems* to work, so hopefully this does the trick.
Stannis The Mannis 13 May @ 2:33am
Jokes aside, although I am not educated in coding, Id imagine something keeps overriding your mod, good luck with it, and thanks for all your effort!
Stannis The Mannis 13 May @ 2:31am
They are sabotaging you in real time!
