lazy, i think u need to change u're name since there was NOTHING LAZY ABOUT THIS FUCKING BANGER!!

It was one of the most challenging, fun, pucker-inducing jungle-safari surfing SOG mission i have ever played. I was immersed from touchdown to dustoff , bravo lazy for recreating Whispers in the Tall grass to a fucking T

NOTES:
-I do think the trackers were a bit too overbearing since i had patrols at the objectives too. But if that was u're true intention so let it be it.
-I think having them manned was a bit hard

At the end it was just me and Hien my 1-4, RIP to rest of RT Knife

I saw your comment on HeadUp's "Over the Top" mission so I checked out your stuff, pretty good so far. I like how you named them S.O.G similar to the spelling of HeadUp's missions so that your missions stay in the same area as his, and kept the mission artwork similar to his style. I'd say reach out to him, you two would do good work together. he really needs to update his missions to be co-op tho :(

nicely made mission, ambiance between the"trees are talking asian dudes" and "get cooked, gook!". ah, the 1970s, awesome retro to a grand era featuring shooting commies and smelling napalms

@CaptnPicard1, thanks for trying my missions, and I hope this one went well for you.

@mason77, thank you for trying the mission. I have tried to find a balance for the trackers without making the mission too quiet and thus, too easy. I was able to sneak my whole team past a number of trackers, and also keep them off my tail with toe poppers, but I made the mission, so I'm not a good gauge. I understand what you are trying to say. As an ardent enthusiast of MACV SOG, I know the enemy contact might be a bit extreme for some, but to keep the mission fun and exciting, yet realistic, it is how it is. I also wouldn't have made this a Hatchet Force mission as I don't believe SOG ever fielded a Hatchet Force for a wire tap mission. I hope you enjoyed the mission, nonetheless!

@XSDNAX thank you, and I hope you enjoyed the mission.

Great mission, I haven't finished yet but so far love the atmosphere and attention to S.O.G. detail. Seems like you put some time and effort in and I appreciate it. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for your effort! The briefing is top notch, cool dialogs in the camp too, the mission idea is great. But don't you think there are too many trackers? I mean I thought it would be a recon mission and this is a game which needs a serious balance to achieve that. Instead, we were detected upon landing every time and it was a firefight every step of the way. I tried being as stealthy as possible but no help, they just zero in on us.

Just a suggestion nothing else. I'd say a proper Hatchet style mission is better for a massive firefight like this. In reality a recon op would be cancelled if the team gets compromised.

Dear author - I just wanted to thank you a HUGE bunch for creating these vietnam era SOG style missions. I am a late comer to ArmA 3 (didn't really do it for me) but I really like the vietnam mod. The single player / story side of things are a little short, so it's great someone like yourself is helping fill that gap.

I've read at least 20 memoirs from Vietnam vets, from pilots to pointmen, SOG and junior Lt's to the regular grunt. Spoken with a couple online, and there's something that fascinates me about this specific conflict. Not so much the action, but the human factors, the pain, anxiety and suffering, but also the comradeship, forging bonds more powerful than family in many cases. As one guy put it, "the ultimate hunt, where the game shoots back"

Thanks again. I look forward to playing these.

@TheLazyDugong31 I will try again, knowing this, cheers!

Hi @Wolfwitz. Thanks for trying the mission. I'm almost certain if the recorder was not picked up at the S4 shop via the red highlighted option, it will break the mission to some degree. Based on how I scripted the mission, picking up the wire-tap via the usual inventory way at S4 will likely fire the "pick up recorder" trigger at the wire-tap site, since the trigger to complete the wire-tap site objective checks for a recorder in the player's inventory.

But I'm also quite sure that if you planted the recorder at the wire-tap site via the red highlighted option when it comes up, a recorder should still spawn somewhere close to you on the ground. Maybe it is in a bush and is out of sight.

Hope your next run of the mission allows you to complete it to the end!

Great mission! Really atmosperic and nerve wrecking. And just right amount of walking-sim. I couldnt complete the mission though, due to the task to pick up the tape recorder after the wiretap was impossible, since the tape recorder was nowhere to be found on the ground after the wiretap.
I mistakenly picked up the tape recorder back at base, before the task to pick it up was created, so I had that task incomplete all the way up to starting the wiretap. I ignored that, thinking it probably didnt afffect mission progress later on. But maybe it did, and thats why I couldnt find it and pick it up after the wiretap?
I will definitely play it again. Great stuff

@TecK9 thank you for trying the mission!

Thanks for the mission, Excellent work bro...
Dugong31  [author] 2 Dec, 2023 @ 7:32pm
Hi @havoc91163. For the pick up of the recorder at the Wiretap site, it is meant to be picked up normally via the action menu, like how you would pick up an item from the ground and place it in your inventory. The trigger fires when it detects a Wiretap recorder in your character's inventory.

This differs from the way you pick it up at the S4 Shop, which uses a custom action menu option, highlighted in red.

Hope this helps!
Dugong31  [author] 2 Dec, 2023 @ 7:29pm
Yeah, once it is picked up normally at the S4 Shop, if you put it down and attempt to do it correctly via the red highlighted action menu option, the script will be broken, and you will have to revert to last save to do it properly. I don't have a workaround personally to make it any more user-friendly, unfortunately. Hence, I emphasised the method to complete the objective quite a bit in the notes, tips, hints, and the task box.

hi what a great mission best ive played i love all your stuff Thank you i some reason i cant pick up the tape recorder to finish the task at the tap site i used the action at s4 so any help would appreciate again thank you and plkease keep making prarie fire missions their amazing
Jeza 2 Dec, 2023 @ 7:04pm
THanks, yeah the pickup from S4 was never completed so I must of just picked it up? As when I went to pickup from ground after 5mins it didnt complete. Nps, thanks for the reply.
Dugong31  [author] 2 Dec, 2023 @ 5:44pm
@Jeza did you mean when you picked it up at the S4 hootch, or at the wire-tap site? For the S4 hootch, you have to pick it up using the red highlighted Action Menu option, not the standard inventory pick up option.

At the wire-tap site, the pick up is via the standard inventory pick up option.

Apologies. I'm not skilled enough in scripting to make it a uniform style for picking up the wire-tap and completing the objectives.

Thanks for your feedback!
Jeza 2 Dec, 2023 @ 5:12pm
Very nicely done and good nod to all the Vietcong characters, issue my side was never completed when I picked up the recording device.

@HeadUp thank you so much for trying the mission and your kind words! I'm really glad you enjoyed the mission as much as I enjoyed making it.
HeadUp 27 Nov, 2023 @ 1:52pm
Wow, what an exhilarating mission! This is exactly how SOG missions should be. Highly recommended.

When I was happy with my loadout and insertion was quiet enough (sometimes you have to restart and just hope your LZ doesn't get lit up), we engaged in a run n' gun all the way to the RON, using every weapon at our disposal. Lots of firefights, often intense but never unfair. You know you've got a good scenario when you have a thrilling extraction and this mission delivered there, too.

You've got me wanting more! Keep up the great work!

Nice job, I had a blast playing this.
I think this is your best mission so far!
