Balance wise these should be fine as theres a trade off with wearing bucklers / other arm utility slots. Not to mention that you need vambraces for every arm (more for mutants, because the armor value is averaged across all arm-like limbs).

I haven't used the forging mod, but I can take a look to ensure they continue to work.

To answer your question a bracer protects the inside of your arms from your bowstring as an archer. Vambraces protect the outside of your arms.

@Verbose Mode Ive been thinking about this one for a while. I am currently preparing for the 1.0 update but plan on adding some bracer types when this mod is next updated.

Due to the low armor values provided by bracers, I would probably use the following progression:
Leather Vambrace (the vanilla one): 1 AV 0 DV
Steel Vambrace: 2 AV -1 DV
Folded Carbide Vambrace: 2 AV 0 DV
Fullerite Vambrace: 3 AV -2 DV
Flawless Crysteel Vambrace: 3 AV -1 DV
Zetachrome Wrist Warmers (wanted some retro sci fi flair, might change the name later) 3 AV 0 DV

I love your mods, and I feel like this might be the one to request this in since CoQ Expanded has said they will not continue:
Expanded added vambraces (or bracers, can't quite remember) that were very weak arm-slot armor. Half the AV and more weight compared to bucklers of the same class, or something similar.

APPARENTLY, there are bracers in the vanilla game, but it's a one-off item I've never seen.
Really felt right to have a fully-armored tank of a knight with full plate including the arms covered.

They also were not compatible with the Forging mod, which I noticed a lot of your stuff is (dunno if that was you or them). It would make it a lot easier to forge a pair of them instead of just stumbling across one every so often.

The problem with armor is as follows

1. Steel armor is tier 3 while steel equipment is otherwise tier 2.
2. Steel armor is heavier than iron armor, which runs counter to steel vs iron equipment otherwise
3. Armor numerical values are on a scale that leaves no middle ground between tiers 0 and tier 3.

For example, the leather cap provides 1 AV and a steel helmet provides 2 AV and -3 DV. This means an iron helmet would be either 2 AV and more than -3 DV making it ridiculously heavy, or a strict upgrade to steel if it were any lighter.

My planned solution to this problem is a currently WIP mod that reworks vanilla armor into heavy and light armor, and retools some vanilla armor tiers. I predict some major changes to armor numbers on the 1.0 update so I have avoided significant work on this topic until the update arrives.

@Godlyvexx As I mentioned in some earlier comments I created an armor add-on but it ended up working against the idea of this mod being as lightweight and vanilla as possible. I was still inspired to create this mod upon reading the wiki and learning the only tier 2 helmet was the electric snail shell. I may update the description to be more accurate to the mods content but its not that big of a deal.

I personally don't care much as I usually wear horns, but I found it weird that the description says you made the mod because there's only one tier 2 helmet, but the mod doesn't seem to add any helmets?

@Cervus Thanks for the feedback, that was my aim so I am glad to hear you like it! I previously created an armor add-on to this mod, but I did not like how it turned out so has not been listed. I expect some significant changes to armor in the 1.0 release, so I plan to delve into armor again once that update drops.

I much prefer this over the alternatives for how it's truer to the base game's weapon roster. As opposed to trying to "expand" it with whole new weapon types and over-detailing. This feels less like an obvious mod, and more like a patch to add things that should have already existed. I'm anxiously anticipating armor items being added!
