Greetings Mellon, Would consider including the rest of houses of 7 dwarven factions? It would be awesome if you do that. regardless of which ages they exist.
kentdun001 9 May @ 8:24pm
Yes, pls do that. Include orocarni faction

The Northern Blue Mountains aren't inhabited, at least not by Dwarves according to the textual evidence of the time. Arvedui for example hides out in an *abandoned* dwarven mine there.

There were Dwarves living in the Southern Blue Mountains, however until the line of Durin is driven out of Khazad Dum there is no explicit mention of any Dwarven Mansions in the Gray Mountains, Blue Mountains or even Erebor, with the Iron Hills only mentioned to have colonies and mining outposts.

There will however be an Orocarni faction with an interesting twist on typical Dwarven fare.

Thank you!

Hi Jmids!

I believe the mod is not included in the TDD launcher.

You will have to use the base game's launcher and mod manager to play it

Hi, I'm having some problems getting started with this mod. I've downloaded the TDD launcher, subscribed on Steam but I can't see this mod in the submods part of the launcher to enable. Can anyone offer any pointers to get this sorted?

I have three misgivings about adding an Avari faction.

1. Sources

While it's possible that Elves still lived in the East into the Third Age, my personal interpretation of the text leans against it. Avari groups had already westward to Beleriand in the First Age, despite refusing to follow Orome initially.

There's no mention of Elves east of The Greenwood in the Second or Third Age, and the Avari are known only to dwell in Lorien and The Greenwood. The only evidence is speculative, implying Elves lived in Dorwinion because it's a Sindarin name.

2. Visual variation from the High Elves and Wood Elves

Until I have the time to learn and do my own 3D modeling, I'm stuck with the existing Elven assets + a few submods. It would be difficult for the faction to look different from the Wood Elves

3. Gamplay variety

I have some ideas, but it would require tweaking certain aspects of the Woodland Realm and giving them to the Avari for them to play in an interesting way.

Yes it is, it's exam season for me. I've been working on a very big update along with 8.5 full compatibility.
StatedSnake1 26 Apr, 2024 @ 3:04pm
Is this mod still development?
StatedSnake1 25 Feb, 2024 @ 12:52pm
Ah. I'm interested to see how the mod ends up developing over time. This has to be among the best submods for Dawnless days so far. Keep up the great work!
Sneed  [author] 25 Feb, 2024 @ 12:39pm
They'll still look Southron and very LOTR-like. I more meant that I'm avoiding some of the more exaggerated visual characteristics of the Haradrim in the Peter Jackson movies

i;e those large fan-like devices on the backs of men etc
StatedSnake1 25 Feb, 2024 @ 10:04am
That sounds really cool! Is it going to lean into more Perisa theme or Ottoman Empire like in their design?
Sneed  [author] 25 Feb, 2024 @ 8:05am
1-3 of the elites will look very similar, but you're going to see a faction that leans more heavily into an IRL Middle Eastern look for the lower level units and elites to a lesser extent.
StatedSnake1 24 Feb, 2024 @ 6:15pm
Are the Umbar units planned to look similar to the Default Dawnless Days ones or are they going to look different?
Sneed  [author] 24 Feb, 2024 @ 5:31pm
Hello! The following factions are planned:

Wood Elves
Haerrim Confederation
Umbar
Harad
Dwarves of Khazad Dum
Orcs of the Misty Mountains
StatedSnake1 24 Feb, 2024 @ 5:15pm
This mod is really cool so far! I can't wait to see how this mod improves. What other factions aside from the preexisting ones are planned?
