Too bad, I don't want "much more", just the mortality tweaks...
ENFP  [author] 1 Oct, 2024 @ 7:44pm
@laxfeed correct, I personally use Dark Ages now and feel no need to keep this mod current.
laxfeed 1 Oct, 2024 @ 3:46pm
@ENFP Am I right to understand that further support for the mod is not to be expected?
ENFP  [author] 1 Oct, 2024 @ 2:13pm
@laxfeed I recommend using dark ages instead, it does what this mod does and much more!
laxfeed 1 Oct, 2024 @ 6:58am
please update
TesaVonAtti 7 Jul, 2024 @ 9:02am
I don't know why but this mod conflicts with "Elf Destiny", it crashes the game after the first expedition
Capo 6 Jul, 2024 @ 6:59am
This mod cause a conflict with Commanders+ (it disable the mod), just to notify
ENFP  [author] 21 Jun, 2024 @ 10:42pm
For those wondering about this mod, I now recommend the excellent mod 'dark ages' instead. It is much more balanced and up to date with the current patch, and I use it now instead of higher mortality!

@ENFP thank you. With this mod a 1-star plague just killed all my 6 children after I bought the DLC, and I had taken all possible measures. I like the idea of my kids randomly catch cold and die, or a pregnant woman miscarriage, but a plague killing 80% of the royal family is just too cruel. I think you can simply make people take the common illness more frequently, without lowering the health they need to die.
ENFP  [author] 3 May, 2024 @ 12:44pm
@aaaaa knight and commanders yes. Genetics, no.
aaaaa 3 May, 2024 @ 7:10am
1.Knights&Commanders have a higher risk to get wounded or maimed during a battle
2. Rebalanced Genetics: Most traits are a little bit more common and its a little bit more difficult to breed traits
HI, I found these two features was listed in the description original mod, did you keep them or remove them? thanks
cuomo860 19 Apr, 2024 @ 6:08pm
Personally, I kept the pregnancy adjustments in the modifications in the Super Compatch asthey probably result in very little difference in the big picture but they really help with small scale immersion, especially if you like RPG. And I have so many other changes in there to account for it i'd have to peel the onion way too much.

But I kind of did a deep dive over the past couple of days looking at the Higher Mortality Base (it's part of what I used) and decided to probably cut the changes from vanilla by 1/2 and not worry too much about the illness stuff. The defines aging and health changes are still needed.
ENFP  [author] 19 Apr, 2024 @ 5:32pm
I will probably tweak it again soon, making it more mainly about combating old age. I still think characters in vanilla live too long at old age, but at the very least elder health makes it a lot harder
GarbageCollector 19 Apr, 2024 @ 4:52pm
Ah I see. I'm not sure why I assumed it did not, to be honest. I guess I thought it just made injuries and illness more common.

I'm not sure if you plan to rebalance again or if you think it's no longer necessary since the base game is much more lethal now. But yeah, my feedback is that it's just far too harsh especially towards children with the plagues right now. Maybe because they don't have any reliable alternative way to boost their health. I do very much like the part about accelerated health loss with age and like that the average age of a ruler/courtier I see in my current playthrough has been ~40 instead of ~65 though.

Either way thank you for the responses and your work on this, and good luck to you if you decide to continue with it.
ENFP  [author] 19 Apr, 2024 @ 4:28pm
it lowers the health you need to die, so children are effected by that.
GarbageCollector 19 Apr, 2024 @ 3:49pm
Interesting. So does the mod impact lethality of plagues in children in any indirect way? Is it only elderly health decline that is modified or are children across the board weaker in this mod? I'm currently raging... well, shaking my head, at how insanely brutal the plagues can be vs children but I wanted to double check this mod isn't distorting my perception.

I think the base concept of this mod is great, but maybe I'm basing the idea that "people should die more" on the way the game played before plagues and I haven't caught up with the times.
ENFP  [author] 19 Apr, 2024 @ 6:06am
@garbagecollector yeah, full disclosure I stopped using this mod myself because after more testing I think the vanilla game is more than deadly enough now on default plague settings. Personally I have them set to often in game rules but I think they are pretty balanced. Elder and Child health do a really good job of culling the NPCs and causing succession crisis
GarbageCollector 18 Apr, 2024 @ 10:17pm
Gotcha, makes sense seeing as a 1-star plague just wiped out 7 of my 8 children and my wife against 72 plague resistance.
ENFP  [author] 18 Apr, 2024 @ 8:43pm
@Lucasif this is standalone

@GarbageCollector no, I removed those elements because plagues are already killing enough people
GarbageCollector 18 Apr, 2024 @ 12:57pm
Does this overwrite pregnancy_events dealing with miscarriage and maternal mortality rates?
Lucasif 11 Apr, 2024 @ 9:38pm
You say this is a patch but don't list the original in the required file. Does this require the original to work properly, or is this a standalone update?
ENFP  [author] 19 Mar, 2024 @ 8:22am
I will update the mod to get rid of the error when I play ck3 again but nothing will have broken so just ignore it!
ENFP  [author] 16 Mar, 2024 @ 3:41pm
@Royal Raven

Rock and Stone !
Royal Raven 16 Mar, 2024 @ 3:30pm
I was hoping PDX was going to tweak child birth deaths in the Scythe update and make them like this mod, since PDX were going all in with the plagues. I guess not.
Royal Raven 16 Mar, 2024 @ 3:23pm
One of my favorite mods, I am going to try it soon with the new DLC and see how it goes.

Rock and Stone!
SgtPeppersSoul 15 Mar, 2024 @ 2:35pm
@ENFP Incredibly sorry, Steam didn't alert me to the reply.

I'm going to paste the code in a discussion thread, which I think has a higher limit. I actually found a better way to do it (using child and adult health instead of just health, thus excluding the elderly rather than countering the effect on them)
thomiss 15 Mar, 2024 @ 12:22pm
Thank you. I loved the original Higher Mortality mod and I was really bummed about it being forsaken.
ENFP  [author] 15 Mar, 2024 @ 11:13am
you could try using it and see what errors your log throws up!
ENFP  [author] 15 Mar, 2024 @ 11:12am
I don't think so, as AGOT changes a number of vanilla files that this mod needs to modify. I will get around to making a compatch for that when I start another AGOT playthrough (I will want to use this mod too!)
Lil cumstain 15 Mar, 2024 @ 10:53am
hey man is this mod compatible with agot?
ENFP  [author] 14 Mar, 2024 @ 11:19am
@thepixelphoenix

hmmm, if you have another mod that alters traits lower it should be loading those instead. That is odd.
thepixelphoenix 14 Mar, 2024 @ 2:35am
hiya, love the effort to keep the mod fresh!

it seems to be overwriting traits regardless of the mod order (if that is possible in any way) which plays bad with mods like Unpredictable Character Stories
ivancamgaeta 13 Mar, 2024 @ 1:59pm
Thanks so much for keeping up this great mod
ENFP  [author] 13 Mar, 2024 @ 1:01pm
@SgtPeppersSoul the file expired I think, could you upload it to google drive or something similar?
Milsugione 13 Mar, 2024 @ 10:38am
WWWWWWWWW i love you
ENFP  [author] 12 Mar, 2024 @ 8:36pm
@cuomo860

Thanks, I will check that out too!
ENFP  [author] 12 Mar, 2024 @ 8:36pm
@SgtPeppersSoul

thanks, I will update that tomorrow.
cuomo860 12 Mar, 2024 @ 5:54pm
@ENFP You can always look at my Super Compatch for some help or ideas if you need as many of my birth and mortality changes were inspired by Fletz work and I had many a discussion with him while we were fine tuning mortality in our respective version. I have pretty much all of the mortality stuff integrated into it (and it's updated for 1.12).
SgtPeppersSoul 12 Mar, 2024 @ 4:42pm
Let's see if Steam will let me post a download link:

https://file.io/ghdvHIK26aqa

The alterations there are for all the good genetic traits. I left Strong untouched, as it is more about lifestyle
ENFP  [author] 12 Mar, 2024 @ 4:23pm
@SgtPeppersSoul

I like this idea, if you upload the file change applied to the mod I will add it!
SgtPeppersSoul 12 Mar, 2024 @ 4:15pm
A suggestion I was going to make on the original mod:

Now that Paradox has added elder_health as an option, I have been adjusting genetic traits in my own game so that once someone is elderly, the health bonus is offset. So if physique_good_1 adds 0.25 health, I make it also add elder_health -0.15. This has the effect (theoretically) of making genetic traits still good for the purpose of keeping healthy young people alive, but without them making old people regularly reach their 90s (not uncommon in vanilla).
ENFP  [author] 12 Mar, 2024 @ 7:22am
@AngelBudgie no, it doesnt.
AngelBudgie 12 Mar, 2024 @ 1:43am
hi, does this mod need the original higher mortality mod to work?
tysm for the update :)
V 11 Mar, 2024 @ 10:22pm
thanks!
daikawa 11 Mar, 2024 @ 6:27am
