Grind mode offset is incorrect on small tool large and small versions. It extends way behind the tool itself.

Grind mode is set to either line or ray on the large grid version of the large tool, which is inconsistent with being set to cylinder on the small grid version, not sure if intended.

Grind mode on large grid small version is also a line, it is also offset forward a meter or two compared to where the tool itself is located.
Hammerton9 6 Jun @ 1:50am
@Palpatine I tried to build a ring with these vortex multitools in order to dismantle the wreckage of huge ships. And I noticed one peculiarity: the grinding mode for small grid blocks works not in a line but in a cylinder, while large grid blocks only have a line. Perhaps it would be worth adding a cylindrical grinding zone to the large grid as well?
Zylian3907 19 Apr @ 9:11am
@Palpatine I've encountered an odd bug. The grinding mode for the small laser is invisible when in use. When turned on the laser shows up briefly, but then disappears even though the tool is still active. The large one does the same thing for grind mode, and the weld mode for the large one is invisible until you start moving around. Is this something you can fix or is it Space Engineer's spaghetti code?
The Nameless 1 Mar @ 9:29am
After several days of thinking about it on and off, I've finally realized what you don't understand.

You think I mean the tool stopped running. That is not the case. The tool IS running, but voxel harvesting freezes.
Palpatine  [author] 24 Feb @ 1:07pm
@The Nameless This means you need more power. The flicker is Toolcores way of showing you that it needs more power.
@cbct Yes it is, Toolcore and Weaponcore are managed by the same body and fully compatible.
cbct 24 Feb @ 6:14am
Hi there! i was just wondering if this is compatible with Weaponcore?
The Nameless 21 Feb @ 5:36pm
When mining, works briefly then stops deleting voxels. Starts working if I use secondary mode, then stops again.
Palpatine  [author] 20 Feb @ 1:54pm
Does it have enough power?
smackyerbob 19 Feb @ 1:18pm
Also, the welders will not affect anything attached to the same grid as the welder itself. As soon as you detach the intended block from the same grid, it will begin welding.
smackyerbob 19 Feb @ 12:52pm
Replying to my previous post, the welder seems to have a minimum work distance of 7 large blocks. Is that on purpose? I have not seen that stated anywhere.
smackyerbob 19 Feb @ 12:03pm
I can't get the grinder or welder to work. What might I be doing wrong?
Palpatine  [author] 8 Feb @ 3:50pm
just uploaded fix to offset being wrong on weld
GloBeast 11 Jan @ 1:23pm
Tation - I'd suggest searching youtube for SE custom turrets. just replace the gun with the tool.
Tation 17 Dec, 2024 @ 4:11am
Just a quick question is there anyway you could make a turret out of the drill or is there someway to make it in game?
ParasiteAutomata 17 Nov, 2024 @ 6:42am
ok so i went ahead and tested everything i could think of to give you a list to make it easier for ya, number 1 as stated in other comments the small grid large tool grinding laser is out of whack , 2 there seems to be big issue with multiplayer we cannot get it to work right at all for multiplayer i.e. it wont work for anyone who did not build it and no one can see the tool working or the voxels updating . 3 the large grid large tool is not as strong or effective as small grid large tool , mostly the grind and weld function of it , its very narrow work area compared to small grid work area . 4 the vanilla handheld tools are quite broken , welder has a debug line on it and all but the drill are very wonkey to use and its frustrating , personal i preferred the vanilla tools to be left vanilla and have actual laser tools if your gonna mess with handheld stuff . other then these nothing else found to report
Joergitech 15 Nov, 2024 @ 10:43am
found a bug docket on station with my small ship have i the tools bar at g menue but when undock is this not more to see
FEEÐBACK 15 Nov, 2024 @ 7:03am
Hi ! I confirm, grinding laser (red) is " invisible " on large and small grid, large or small tools both
ParasiteAutomata 15 Nov, 2024 @ 4:34am
it does , i think if your gonna do that make dedicated laser tools for hand held stuff , . yea the drill works now , the grinding laser is still fubar on the small grid large multitool , and there is a green line in my face when i use haldheld welders
Palpatine  [author] 15 Nov, 2024 @ 2:29am
Yeah it was up the stream, small issue in API update we uncovered (good job guys!)
So I just pushed an update that will make your drills work again.
Also your welders and grinders just got a massive range boost.
I want to get some feedback, know if anyone feels like having longer range is game breaking then I am working on some model updates for the tools then we'll end up having hand tools in their own mod.
Thanks for the support and help, good engineers like you are why I write this stuff. o7
ParasiteAutomata 14 Nov, 2024 @ 3:56am
yea tryed everything . cant fix it , and like others have said , handdrill broken , shows a orb around it like the draw of your tools ,
Palpatine  [author] 13 Nov, 2024 @ 9:59pm
Ulti this is wonderful news! This means I can make laser hand tools! I have been looking for something to mess with, expect updates!
Palpatine  [author] 13 Nov, 2024 @ 9:58pm
ParasiteAutomata try to rebuild the block itself, toolcore stores inside the bp of the thing so it might be weird until it gets remade like old WC weapons
Ulti 13 Nov, 2024 @ 8:56am
since the update i cant use the handdrill anymore. I dont get any stones/ores from mining with the handdrill and the tier 1 drill has an absurd hole size.
ParasiteAutomata 13 Nov, 2024 @ 3:50am
so i tried the updated mod and no change , the laser and field still apear behind the tool . im not sure , maybe something messed up on my end il have to try a few things
ParasiteAutomata 13 Nov, 2024 @ 3:42am
im about to try now , also , on a less important note of minor bugs , the secondairy function for drilling does not work it still functions as primary but not gamebreaking or anything ,
Palpatine  [author] 12 Nov, 2024 @ 8:30pm
ParasiteAutomata just did an update, I switched around how the grinder works so its a tighter beam. Everything looks alright on my end and I think I got it. Let me know buddy
Palpatine  [author] 12 Nov, 2024 @ 6:38pm
ahh ok, should be an easy fix let me look into it real quick
ParasiteAutomata 12 Nov, 2024 @ 6:34pm
on the grinding mode for large tool . the laser is tring to apear behind the tool by a few blocks , and so is the actual grinding area is also offset back few blocks
Palpatine  [author] 12 Nov, 2024 @ 6:00pm
what is happening with grinding mode? Explain more please, good news that its updated though!
ParasiteAutomata 12 Nov, 2024 @ 2:32am
toolcore just updated and now the grinding laser doesn't display correctly , the other tools seem fine , i let both know just in case as im not sure of which mod is at fault
miku567 1 Nov, 2024 @ 4:59pm
Update: this problem affects both small and large grid 3x3 multitools, grinding and drilling works fine
miku567 28 Oct, 2024 @ 5:03pm
I tried the 3x3 multitool, but the welding mode does not work. The tool is connected to storage block with enough components and yet the block construction is not progressing.
SmooreMC85 11 Oct, 2024 @ 8:06pm
Were you able to recode another version in tool core? Either way cool mod! I'm on a big homeworld kick right now and this is sort of the closest this I can find to the tech used in homeworld 1 as I slowly build my way up from corvettes to battle cruiser.
spEeͥD`eͣxͫ 29 Sep, 2024 @ 3:23am
Great Looking Tools, Animations, Models, and Cost wise for survival.

However, it materials it extracts is insane. Half a second mining a larg grid laser gives you 300k nickel ore, ill never use that and the voxels removed feel like 5 second right clicking with the hand drill.
Also the Stone duplication bug fills up your ship in an instant. Makes it not really usable.
P.S. i dont like throwing out stone via 100 connectors while mining to keep up.
TheVillain 29 Jul, 2024 @ 7:20pm
Having looked at other mods like this, they all seems to be built around toolcore- and they all seem to have some issues. I honestly wonder if TC just needs more time to mature?

Appreciate the work you've done, and your response. It looks really cool when it fires up in its housing and animates. For me Cheetah's old laser tools is still the right balance for my taste. Sadly its wiiiildly out of date.
Palpatine  [author] 29 Jul, 2024 @ 7:06pm
Thanks. I am going to end up recoding this entirely again. I made it in the weapons race as toolcore was introduced and honestly fell behind on keeping up with bugs. I'll remake it with the newest formatting and prolly scale back the sizing a bit.
A much lower power version would be on the list of things to do next as like another mod geared at that vanilla+ niche you mentioned.
TheVillain 23 Jul, 2024 @ 10:13am
Really great art and animations, and clearly alot of thought has gone into world building. Sadly I also get the stone duplication bug, which is worse than I expected as my ship cant chuck it out fast enough to take off.

I also find that the tools are wildly over powered for what I want. If you want to 'delete' an asteroid then this is the tool for the job. I suspect I could use the Grinder function as a combat weapon.

I think all I want is a multi tool, without any real bumps to vanilla other than reach.
Black-Panther-DM 15 Jun, 2024 @ 11:14pm
Be carfefull, by using this for drilling. The FPS are dropping hard and the game freezing sometimes.
Burningsun 4 Jun, 2024 @ 6:54am
those tool seem to be be bugged and creating a infinite amount of stone ...
crashdodgers 24 May, 2024 @ 1:19pm
Hi, I like the look of your mod, but before I decide to use it or not I need to know, how big is your small grid tool, as so far all the block tools I have tried have always been a large block size?
Silence 21 May, 2024 @ 6:34pm
So I tested it out, and it mined a lot of stone but not a lot of gold, which was what it was also grabbing, minor bug?
spEeͥD`eͣxͫ 11 May, 2024 @ 5:29am
Really nice mod, ive run into an issue tho.
When mining something and deactivating the laser, it still produces ore without actually mining. Making infinite resources. This can be stopped by turning it off

I also have other laser tool mods using tool core and no other mod is having this problem
Imperialer Offizer 11-B 7 May, 2024 @ 8:42am
1.8GW on a small grid as max and 110GW for large grid
Imperialer Offizer 11-B 7 May, 2024 @ 8:40am
dont need to lower the power use. just recomment to use the Arc reactor mod. this baby make more than enought power
RavenTheLatex 5 May, 2024 @ 8:52pm
Personally, seeing how small and powerful these laser tools are, i find this power cost very reasonable lol. Thank you for such a Wonderful mod <3
Palpatine  [author] 5 May, 2024 @ 2:24pm
Raven its weird right? As developers we should make things that make since for the player? So they do the right thing kinda intuitively ya know? It really seamed to me these were logical power requirements for this kind of tool but soooooo many people seam to be not powering them enough. I've been considering lowering the power requirements because it catches so many people up.
RavenTheLatex 5 May, 2024 @ 10:58am
FYI,For any of you wondering why it just flickers the laser on for a split second. The power requirement for the tools. is in MEGAWATTS.
Imperialer Offizer 11-B 1 May, 2024 @ 7:30am
sounds nice. even for small grid? want to geht rid of that only LG auto mining turret that is very old thing.and very energy consuming
Palpatine  [author] 29 Apr, 2024 @ 10:56pm
Rysten - there is a bug in the API that is leading to that currently, will be addressed on a future update.
Rob - TURN THE POWER UP HOMIE! You need more power.
Imperial Omega - Yeah I'll get around to it. Before end of next month somewhere.
Imperialer Offizer 11-B 29 Apr, 2024 @ 4:19am
i see here high potencial for auto mining turrets. is that on plans maybe?
