When I do start playing again, I'll probably look into implementing this since as you mentioned it doesn't hurt the player. Thanks for the suggestion. :)
It's basically when they ask you to carve something on a tree and you do it, and there is a potential of you 'damaging' the tree and thus the host gets angry and gets a hook on you.
It's one of the event I tried to avoids since it's so dumb. As far as I'm aware, it's not region or religion-locked since I encountered it playing all sorts of overhauls and cultures.
This means it's maximizes compatibility for a lot of people. Downside is some of them don't enable Tours, and your Wedding mod on the other hand is virtually incompatible as all overhauls overwrite wedding event.
Basically if you fail it or whatever, the liege will get angry and force a hook. It's one of the worst outcome of it. I tried to avoid it at all cost.
Strong hooks prevent vassals from joining factions and also from joining hostile actions against you. A dread tour is also an option too if you succeed on making them (the vassals you visit) concede at a stop , they won't be able to join a faction for 15 years. The dread is just a cherry on top, to help prevent other factions/minor vassals from rising up.
