@heliostellar Yeah that would probably work. When I was making the mod, I just wanted to do the easiest/quickest fix because I just wanted to continue playing and do tours without the favor hooks. Which is why I ended up commenting out the problematic code block rather than looking into other cleaner solutions like how AI weights work.

When I do start playing again, I'll probably look into implementing this since as you mentioned it doesn't hurt the player. Thanks for the suggestion. :)

Is it necessary to completely disable the event? You could just change the AI weight of the options for that event, right? That way the player is not affected by this restriction...

The sacred tree fired off regularly once or once every other time I host a Tour.

It's basically when they ask you to carve something on a tree and you do it, and there is a potential of you 'damaging' the tree and thus the host gets angry and gets a hook on you.

It's one of the event I tried to avoids since it's so dumb. As far as I'm aware, it's not region or religion-locked since I encountered it playing all sorts of overhauls and cultures.

Good to know, can you give me an idea how to encounter the sacred tree event. I might start a new game when Steppes comes out and see if I can chase the strong hook down but I'm unsure if that's region or religion specific since i've never encountered that event before.

In addition, the claudia file you modify is basically untouched for the follow overhauls: EK2, AGoT, PoD, RiE.

This means it's maximizes compatibility for a lot of people. Downside is some of them don't enable Tours, and your Wedding mod on the other hand is virtually incompatible as all overhauls overwrite wedding event.

I can confirm about the sacred tree carving.
Basically if you fail it or whatever, the liege will get angry and force a hook. It's one of the worst outcome of it. I tried to avoid it at all cost.

Hmm, interesting. I've never encountered this event in any of my tours yet. Who or what were you playing as, to get this event to fire? I might try it later for debugging. I know it's a strong hook, and while this mod focuses on the weak hooks, it primarily aims at fixing hooks we don't have a say in. I did find the Sacred Tree event in code along with the loyalty strong hook, but firing the event in debug mode doesn't let it run properly because it's missing all the variables. So I'd have to do a tour myself to trigger it and test it.

there's also the one for doing a tour where you carve a sacred tree and a vassal gets strong hook on you. its easy enough to avoid if you're paying attention, but if you don't know, or are just clicking through events its a major pain in the ass. I like the events, nesting in a landmine to million events that get repetitive is insane. also no way to get out of the hook is also wild. like why would a king let a count he hates, and who hates him basically own him. its crazy.

Thank you! Yeah, it was probably an oversight on Paradox's part, not really a bug since it's working as intended technically.
KINGOAL 26 Oct, 2024 @ 1:14am
Damn great job. Hooks you can not control are super annoying, and if this is not a bug but a design choose, then I must say it is super bad choose. At least I think here should be a way to let you abandon weak hooks by paying something back. It can be cash or opinion something, but no limiting this action to cruel personality.
Tygrtraxx  [author] 19 Sep, 2024 @ 1:16pm
Well, even if you got normal hooks, they would still join against you. You would probably need strong hooks. I don't plan on adding a feature to allow strong hooks for land grants since I want to keep this mod mainly as a fix or QoL mod. So if you're planning to go on a war/murder spree, best to pick up some intrigue perks, like fabricate hook.

Strong hooks prevent vassals from joining factions and also from joining hostile actions against you. A dread tour is also an option too if you succeed on making them (the vassals you visit) concede at a stop , they won't be able to join a faction for 15 years. The dread is just a cherry on top, to help prevent other factions/minor vassals from rising up.

Is it possible to get hooks from vassals if you grant them lands? I feel like they become ungrateful mf once they finally get their own lands and joins a coup againts me. Though, its understandable since i've been burning and executing war prisoners.

No problem! Glad you like it :)

Thanks for this mod, sick to death of the god dam hooks!
Sledjer 17 Apr, 2024 @ 12:11pm
Any chance you could make a companion mod for grand weddings? They have a similar problem
Tygrtraxx  [author] 18 Mar, 2024 @ 7:49pm
No it's not strong hooks. The 7001 event only can make your vassal get weak hooks on you out of nowhere. Now there is a possibility of another event that is similar to event 7001, but I haven't experienced any strong hooks out of nowhere yet.
Kimchi 18 Mar, 2024 @ 7:46pm
Is this why out of nowhere some random vassal has a strong hook on me for no reason?
Tygrtraxx  [author] 15 Mar, 2024 @ 7:32am
Agreed, lol, got tired of it and reddit didn't have any answers to where it was coming from. Debug mode wasn't helping, since the triggers are hidden. So I just said screw it and opened all the files up, changed all the hooks, and slowly but surely narrowed it down to 1 file xD
Half-lidded Bruiser 15 Mar, 2024 @ 7:29am
UHHHHHH, based??? Still baffled that Paradox thought this was a good idea.
