The mod is a bit of a cheat, but it really helps out when there is a shortage of resources.

That's a Dwarf Fortress quirk. Since the active site of the building is off center, the building reticle is also off center. Since this is a raw mod I can't really fix it. Might be able to do it with DFHack, but I wouldn't want to add that additional burden.
Kaktus021 27 May @ 11:35am
When I go to place the quarry it shifts one space down and right from where it shows it placing in build mode.
CelticAngel 17 May @ 11:14pm
@Topples thank you, I came right with smelting it. I was just not having dorfs doing their jobs because I ran out of booze and they were sulking. Thanks for the reply.
Topples  [author] 19 Apr @ 2:47am
@CelticAngel

You need to make a smelter and have coke(coal) to fuel it, just like you would other metals. Note that most of the time iron and silver will come in ore-bearing rocks that won't read silver or iron (hematite, etc)

Though all that is basic info, so maybe something else is going wrong?
CelticAngel 18 Apr @ 1:07am
I love this mod and appreciate all your work on it. Just one question: I can't seem to figure out how to smelt the ore mined from the quarries? Specifically silver and iron. What am I missing?
Topples  [author] 3 Apr @ 12:56pm
I've updated this to make coal mining a clear option as well as clay mining. I also changed the way the mod works with which civilizations can use it. At the moment, standard civs, lizardmen and halflings can use them. I can now add modded civ entities to the usage list, so let me know if you guys want me to give quarries to any other civs.
Topples  [author] 10 Mar @ 9:23am
@Forekast
Ah, i guess I forgot to change the name. I'll get to that.

@Psyentific
Flux should be explicitly there. It looks like coal is under the wrong name.

@machotacoman256
No. The mod is meant to allow access to most common and uncommon materials that are required for some fortress actions. I just messed up the naming of the reaction and apparently it's labeled as clay.
Forekast 12 Feb @ 11:24am
Seems to be mislabeled as "mine clay", but the files indicate that it should generate bituminous coal & lignite

[REACTION:MINE_QUARRY_COAL]
[NAME:mine clay]
...etc
mistavipa 14 Jan @ 11:22am
OK, I'm not sure if it was my load order, but I remove one of my mods and the quarry is popping up now. Although I noticed that coal is not popping up to be mined. I look through the files for the mod and see that it is there, but it is not popping up to me minable. How do I enable it?
mistavipa 12 Jan @ 5:12am
@loony liberator I am currently on vacation and can't check my computer. But I know it is not under the workshop page. I'm not running many mods at all, but I will try to modify the load order to see if I can get it to pop-up.
Loony Liberator 12 Jan @ 2:14am
Update on my previous post, my bad load order was causing workshops to not show up in my game, I've corrected my load order regarding the Agriculture mods and have fixed that issue.
Loony Liberator 8 Jan @ 9:02pm
@mistavipa It will be immediately under the workshops menu, the very same as Carpenter and Stoneworkshop. I've found and confirmed that the Advanced Agriculture Compatibility Patches mod causes many modded workshops to disappear from the workshop menu for my maps. Just listing this just incase this is relevant to your situation aswell.
mistavipa 7 Jan @ 5:30pm
Where is the quarry at in game. I cant seem to find it.
Psyentific 31 Aug, 2024 @ 4:55am
Can you mine for Flux Stone and Coal/Lignite?
machotacoman256 25 Jun, 2024 @ 4:26pm
Looking around the files, it looks like there's lines for mining coal. Was this excluded to prevent coke from being too available? And could there be a separate task for mining flux so it's not mixed with other common rocks?
Aura Farmer 19 Jun, 2024 @ 5:28am
If it doesn't work, you need to change the mode order. Move this mode to bottom.
Deon ☣ 13 Jun, 2024 @ 12:00pm
From what I can tell, it uses a pick as a reagent, so it should be in a stockpile.
An advice to Topples is to make a pick a part of the quarry build, so people do not get confused and it doesn't take an extra haul job to get it started.

After all there's a pick in the sprite :).
Also the art is fantastic.
machotacoman256 12 Jun, 2024 @ 5:44pm
When trying to set the order to mine, it gets interrupted saying "Needs pick". I have many picks. Does it mean it needs an unclaimed pick?

@Alll-Mer
Message me on discord and show / tell me about the race you want graphics for. My username is .topples
Alll-Mer 7 Jun, 2024 @ 12:23pm
@Topples
Just portraits for a personal race mod of mine, I'm not skilled enough yet at pixel art so I can't really do it.
Topples  [author] 6 Jun, 2024 @ 9:19pm
@Alll-Mer
Maybe. Depends on how complex what you want is.
Alll-Mer 6 Jun, 2024 @ 12:23pm
Topples are you willing to do commission work?
Stormlord 17 May, 2024 @ 2:03pm
Thanks mate!:steamthis:
Topples  [author] 5 May, 2024 @ 1:25pm
Hey everyone,

There was a glitch that caused actions on the quarry building to lag and might have been due to a corrupted graphics file. That issues is fixed and there is no longer any lag with quarries.
Topples  [author] 30 Apr, 2024 @ 6:39pm
@Sir Thomas More
The quarry requires a wheelbarrow, a minecart, and an enormous screw to construct. All three can be made from wood.
Sir Thomas More 30 Apr, 2024 @ 4:29pm
What does the 'any tool' mean? A tool is required to build the quarry, but I have tried with a pick, an axe and even a mortar. What am I doing wrong? There is nothing in work orders that give me the possibility to craft simply 'a tool'.
Alll-Mer 22 Apr, 2024 @ 5:26pm
@Miniman6565 So that's an easy edit, if you go into the mod folder and navigate to the text file that patches the human and dwarves. You can just copy paste the mountain entity in it and then replace mountain in [ENTITY:MOUNTAIN] with whatever civ you want. example would be "EVIL" for the goblins.
梦伯爵X 11 Apr, 2024 @ 9:49am
I love your MOD,thanks`
Miniman6565 7 Apr, 2024 @ 2:54pm
Is there any way to modify this to work for other civs? No worries if not. Just curious
Surwich 31 Mar, 2024 @ 6:43pm
Got them working together just by putting this below Dark Ages in the mod load order, which is the opposite of how I would assume it would have worked, but ya know. Just updating for readers that may have similar issues. Great mod, thanks topples.
Surwich 31 Mar, 2024 @ 6:30pm
That was easy. First and most obvious culprit. For any readers, it is not compatible with dark ages. I'll probably poke around in the files and see if I can merge them into a compatibility patch/one working mod but I am extremely incompetent so will see.
Surwich 31 Mar, 2024 @ 4:09pm
Mod conflicts can cause it not to show up in under workshops, as it works fine by itself but conflicts with something in my massive stupid modlist. I'll probably try to diagnose exactly what at some point. Imagine its dark ages V or something that changes cobalt.

Is there any copy and pasting I could do offhand to whip up a compatibiity patch? If not its cool. Definitely a me problem.

Love the mods. Lizardmen have a permanent spot in my playthroughs.
Aura Farmer 30 Mar, 2024 @ 11:47am
now play ontheground
Kalidari 30 Mar, 2024 @ 6:58am
Ah this is great, can finally give a dedicated miner something to do when they aren't digging new rooms
VanBuren30L 29 Mar, 2024 @ 11:15pm
Ah sorry, I just didn't see it. The mod works great
Topples  [author] 27 Mar, 2024 @ 4:57pm
@VanBuren30L
It should be under workshops, yes. Do you not see it? Mind you, this mod only adds it on dwarf and human civs. https://files.catbox.moe/9je7bm.png
VanBuren30L 27 Mar, 2024 @ 4:09pm
I have absolutely no idea how to build a quarry, is it not under workshops?
Curious 25 Mar, 2024 @ 5:53am
I very much like that it's not a 100% chance to obtain the resources, makes it feel a lot less like a cheat and more organic :gorge:
Topples  [author] 24 Mar, 2024 @ 8:15pm
@Alll-Mer
Ye
Alll-Mer 24 Mar, 2024 @ 7:25pm
so put it on repeat and hope to find stuff?
DW420 17 Mar, 2024 @ 10:03pm
Thanks for this :)
