Hey, just out of curiousity, how on earth are you able to get the maps so precise? I ask since I've been considering making co-op versions of the campaigns, but I don't know where I can find the campaigns. I thought they'd be in the game files, but when I look in the campaigns folder it's empty

Basically, this was the issue that I was referring to: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/app/221380/discussions/2/458604254426968101/

Hey, I don't know if this is the right place or not, but I'm just looking for some help. Basically, I wanted to get back to this game for playing the campaigns, but I noticed that the slides of the cinematics that play before each scenario have lost that "blur" effect that they used to have in the original.

Does anyone know if there is a patch or a mod or something that restores the campaign cinematics back to the way that they were, instead of the slides just automatically "appearing" on after the other?

Let me know.
Thanks very much.

@Turan Khan, please add Genghis Khan hero from scenario 2 to 5. In addition, please add Genghis Khan's son or grandson in the conquest of Hungary in scenario 6.

I have fixed the 2nd mission, both A) need Players 2 and 3 defeated, not just killing Kushluk and B) fixed vanilla corrupted triggerwork to keep Kushluk nestled and tucked away in the back of the GREEN PLAYER (Kushluk) base. Also, added Genghis Khan hero unit to this mission. It seemed fitting. Also, it's a strong unit, so allows for aggressive play. Just uploaded the new change. @Apomind, you wrote, according to Google Translate: in the 2nd mission if I kill Kushluk the victory condition is activated, therefore the mission remains as easy as in the original AoE. I'm not sure if it only happens to me, but it's sad because I can't do the side missions, since when opening the palisades Kushluk goes straight to attack my urban center and dies from the arrows :/
Apomind 16 Sep, 2019 @ 4:51pm

@Mesmerion: I just fixed the mission 1 bug. The issue was me assigning player 5 (purple Tayichi'ud AI) to players 2,3,4 and 6. And assigning player 7 AI (green Naiman) to player 8 as well. Instead, I re-assigned the wrong ones to TK_NonCombat and it's now working as intended. Thank you very much again for spotting this issue on first mission! Kudos! :steamfacepalm:

Thanks Mesmerion!

Just uploaded the Saladin Expanded.

I'll be sure to fix the first mission and re-check Genghis Khan campaign again. Thanks for letting me know.

Guys, if you would like to support me (in order to prioritze my mod-making for particular titles as opposed to other titles, and to keep me focused/incentivized/motivated to do so), please support me on Patreon here: https://www.patreon.com/turankhan

I'd really really appreciate any and all help that you'd provide me. These take a long time. I enjoy doing these for free. But I'm exploring opportunity to possibly do this full-time... but in order to do these full-time, I need to get compensated.

I need to grow my YouTube, blog and other activities as well. Oh boy.
Mesmerion 25 Aug, 2019 @ 6:32am
nevertheless : few bugs here...in first mission (can't test further since it breaks the victory conditions) :

when i choose between green and purple tribe and destroy one of them , 80% of AI of the game abandons..it means that if u didnt bring the sheeps to blue before choosing between green and purple, blue will never join the horde...then they wont give you a monk and grey cannot get its relic . And the game is impossible to win after that.
Mesmerion 25 Aug, 2019 @ 5:21am
thanks for your great job and please update all the other old campaigns , your mods are brilliant !
Turan Khan  [author] 18 Aug, 2019 @ 3:59pm
Updated with all DLCs, including AF and ROR. Added Scenario Instructions. Added INTRO and OUTRO videos. Fixed bugs and issues.

Listened to your guys feedback, especially @Madatom (thanks buddy!) making the Merkid "doomstack" lesser with less frequent attack cycles. Overall made Mission 2 easier with more starting military units and a simpler flow. Removed the gate since it wasn't working with Rocks that get replaced after you kill the snow leopard. With no Siege equipment and two enemy Castles out in the back, this is still a tough mission already.
Madatom 21 Apr, 2019 @ 11:56pm
Hi Turan, i was watching your opening moves video for Mission 2 and your explanation on the Merkids "doomstack" and how to avoid it while helpful is definitely not a good way to convey a game system or mechanic to a player
Unless the player is instructed otherwise most players are going to take the northern camp like they normally would in the old scenario and then begin eco while scouting forward in the direction of the Kara-Khitai, only then to be suddenly attacked by a teal army many times in strength in comparison to what the player has available

this "doomstack" should be replaced with smaller forces raiding in intervals, or be seriously delayed
Turan Khan  [author] 3 Apr, 2019 @ 10:29pm
Thanks for your feedback, KasasPoxo and Relish. I'll investigate this manner with the custom AIs acting wonky. Anyways, I need to update the display instructions with video just like I did with the El Cid campaign. Hmmm, now to find the time some free weekend coming up. RL is so in the way, grrr.
Three Inch Carrot 2 Apr, 2019 @ 12:57pm
There is a bug where if you defeat the purple before defeating the merkids(cyan) gets you defeated. Please either specify in the objective to beat cyan first or to make it you don't lose by beating purple first.
Poxo 24 Jul, 2018 @ 12:00pm
Bugs on all the missions I've played so far.

1st mission, once I've done any of the mission a player resigns (not the appropiate one) I had to kill all the players to make it end.
2nd mission, killing Red or P6 (I killed both at the same time) got me defeated. Looks like triggers with player numbers are wrong.

Also, minor bug, constantly getting the sound and comment about red slinging red or whoever it is.

Please fix, the campaign was looking good.
Marco Carpentieri 3 Dec, 2017 @ 1:25pm
mission 2 is very difficult
darkdill 19 Nov, 2016 @ 5:55pm
Second mission is kinda brutal even on Standard difficulty since the Turks attack you with loads of Cavalry Archers, Camels and even Monks within the first few minutes. No real way to fight them off without taking irreparable damage.
darkdill 14 Jul, 2016 @ 1:48pm
Nice. I hope you'll get around to the El Cid and Attila the Hun campaigns.
zym1994815 4 Apr, 2016 @ 11:04pm
An interesting change in mission 2!
HotPot8821 30 Mar, 2016 @ 6:51pm
Hey Khan, in mission 2 It is a bit strange for the Kara Khitai (red) to attack the player with full force (at least 20-25 units) within the first several minutes after gaining control of grey's town center. This was on moderate difficulty.
Medve 27 Jan, 2016 @ 4:08am
Dude in the desciption it says Hungary is in misson 5 :S but they are in misson 6! At least in the original campagin, have you change that?
Turan Khan  [author] 15 Feb, 2015 @ 1:58pm
iknowjack123, I highly recommend Tamerlane, Prince of Destruction campaign by Mark Stoker. It should be up on Age of Heaven. Here's the link: http://aok.heavengames.com/blacksmith/showfile.php?fileid=234

To me it was VERY reminiscent of the old AoK and AoC campaigns. I'm actually trying to contact him in order to do my own Tamerlane campaign possibly. For example, I really love one mission where you choose in which town to build up, with pros/cons for each location. More macro-level troops strategy is what I like instead of micro-level unit strategy of MOBAs and so on.
iknowjack123 19 Oct, 2014 @ 11:55am
Lol and yeah I agree with what your saying. The old campaigns really weren't that complicated, but they were cohesive, challenging, and made sense. That's why I am a little shocked I havn't really been able to find any custom scenarios along those lines. Many of the campaigns I've played have levels or scenarios I like, but as a sum they kind of deviate away from what I'm looking for.
I think the simplicity of the old one's was a key part of their brilliance. I love triggers and mapwork as much as the next guy, but when the story makes little sense or is a collection of missions involving "move small group throughout map" it kind of gets old. I don't know its weird...kind of feels like not many people are a fan of the old "build and destroy" campaigns.
iknowjack123 19 Oct, 2014 @ 11:43am
Khan if you could make a campaign similiar to AoK that would be amazing! Like I said, I'm not trying to be rude to the people who made The Forgotten Campaigns, but personally felt they just really weren't upto par with the classics. Granted the first few scenarios were ok/good, most of them seem rushed out of the gate.

Can you recommend any campaigns that are like the old one's? I've looked (even checked AoK modder's site), but most stuff is really old or not what I'm looking for.
Turan Khan  [author] 19 Oct, 2014 @ 5:16am
Iknowjack123, your criticism against Forgotten Campaigns is a bit unfounded. While true they lack the classic's cohesiveness, their maps are first much more detailed and larger and interactive than the classics. If you REALLY take a look at the classic maps, they are SO simple to be borderline amateurish, imho. At least in MAP DESIGN and TRIGGERWORK, but just for the sake of triggerwork, the Forgotten Empires campaigns stand on a level of complexity MUCH higher than the Classics. Now however, complexity isn't ALWAYS what's good with strategy games, as classics show. Sometimes one does MORE with LESS.
Turan Khan  [author] 19 Oct, 2014 @ 5:16am
Hi iknowjack123,

I too hate mini RPGs in AOKs. I appreciate the modder's ingenuity, but Age of Empires is for building bases, empires, and training units and attacking.

I do like creating optional quests though, as long as their strategic and not RPG in essence.

IF and WHEN I'll get free time again, I'll try and create at least one TK custom campaign. See how you like it, is it closer to the classic or would I be overdoing it again like most mapmakers.
iknowjack123 19 Oct, 2014 @ 2:26am
The Age of King campaigns were some of the best single-player RTS series I've ever played. They were all excellent. Conquerors was a mixed bag - Atilla and El Cid stories were well done...the rest not so much. Unfortunately, The Forgotten Campaigns seems to be the weakest one's. No offense to the people who made those, but they looked like a bunch of maps some amateur modder strung together...can't believe how low quality those turned out.

The purpose of me writing this out was to see if anybody could recommend any custom campaigns that are actually good - something reminscent of the old Age of Kings campaigns. I've played a handful of custom campaigns and for the most they all seem like mini RPG's or are just entirely too easy. Any suggestions would be appreciated
Turan Khan  [author] 8 Oct, 2014 @ 6:25pm
@bigfyasko: Thaaanks, you're welcome! I'm really glad and happy to hear that you've enjoyed it, what little changes I've made.

I'm planning my own new TK campaign, most likely focusing on Russian Saga Apos basically Russian History, focusing on the Slavs civilization which wasn't covered by FE (Magyars, Italians and now Indians were covered well, love love love the FE campaigns). Another idea is take Marco Polo and follow him on his incredible journey through Europe and Asia, ending up at the court of Khublai Khan in preparation for the invasion of Japan.

AoF_1302 and I are discussing early plans for a Langobard or Lombard campaign to jointly work together on. That sounds exciting! So there are more stuff coming from me in the near future.

Love the work you've done with thesse campaigns.
Much appreciated.

09/26/2014 UPDATE Version 2.5

- All Missions received a custom Scenario Instruction Map (see screenshots)
- Mission #2: Both Kushluk (Green) and Kara-Khitai (Red) must be defeated. Just killing Kushluk is no longer enough
- Mission #2 triggers fixed and streamlined. Mainly the Yellow Caravanserai's units at one point will disappear completely from the map, this time
- Mission #5: Loss entry typos fixed
- Other smaller fixes here and there
