Interesting. Never knew this. The source I looked at must have been outdated.

"From the 15,000 Navy and Marine pilots who qualified, there were numerous men who would go on to become important figures in US history. Among them was future president of the United States, George H.W. Bush, who qualified aboard the Sable, became the second youngest navy pilot of WWII, and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. Another famous figure in aviation history was Ensign Charles S. Downey, the youngest naval aviator in WWII. In fact, Downey wrote a letter to former President Bush after Bush claimed to hold the title at age 19, not knowing that Downey was actually 11 days younger, and the two later met in Bush’s residence to reminisce about their days flying for the Navy. Downey would go on to earn the Distinguished Flying Cross for his heroic actions in the Pacific and became the Captain of the Naval Reserves at age 39—the youngest man in the history of the Naval Reserves to attain that rank."

@flakhappy, George HW Bush is known to be the youngest American Pilot for the Navy in World War II. He was only 18 when he volunteered. - National WWII Museum.

I also have two microcontrollers that will replace all the logic blocks and give you more room

Always happy to help. I fixed the gear issue, you also had the parking brake off upon spawning, I fixed the logic so now is on by default, cut the bomb load by half which helped the gear issue and gave it a proper d-day paint scheme, and converted the gauges to show RPM, MPH and temp in Farenheight

Good to know! I might not include all of these fixes on this aircraft, as it would be too much work for my currently busy schedule, but i will be sure to take that information into account in any possible future builds like this. Thanks!

Good aircraft. Some thoughts:

Nice history to establish the lore but I would switch the pilot as everyone knows that GHW Bush flew in the Navy. Also , Chuck Downey is credited as the youngest naval pilot beating the former president by 11 days.

The air force wasn't incorporated until 1947. before that it was the Army Air Corps (USAAC) and then the Army Air Force (USAAF) . Invasion stripes were applied in June 44 when the majority of large aircraft still used the Olive Drab paint scheme. The stripes were ordered to be removed immediately after the invasion. Natural metal wasn't common until late in the air war (post D-Day) when opposition was non existent.

If you are showing later service, ditch the invasion stripes and use the insignia with the stripes in the bars.

*beef up the landing gear. Most play with low physics and the gear collapse. also when taking off the gear look like spagetti.

*the controls are ultra twitchy. I suggest a dampener or a gyro to help with that.

*Maybe use an Alt hold.

*change the throttle to w/s and the collective to 1/2

You've got a good build. with those tweaks it has the possibility of being great.
