LCDs
Operator Durszlaka 5 May @ 8:29pm
Does this one have proper upgrade guide LCD or just markers around the ship?
Captain M 4 May @ 5:04am
ah ty i thought i was going insane xD
Ente  [author] 3 May @ 7:18pm
SGT Roc/K/ is right, armor blocks add to shield capacity in RE2.
SGT Roc/K/ 3 May @ 4:35pm
Pretty sure Combat Steel and Hardened Steel blocks add to your shield rate, not sure by what amount.
Captain M 3 May @ 12:43pm
in re2 advanced shields have 24k capacity how did you get 33k capacity without any extenders?
Lion1469 5 Apr @ 5:12pm
Thanks, I missed that lcd!
Ente  [author] 5 Apr @ 6:16am
hey, yes the gen can be replaced with a small fusion generator. There should be an upgrade lcd for that.
Lion1469 5 Apr @ 5:24am
Hi Ente. I've placed a few Gun Turrets (4, 30mm) )underneath to deal with ground targets, plus capacitors for the shields. Now sometimes I get Gen warnings. Is there a way to upgrade the generator or should I remove something?
Ente  [author] 13 Feb @ 12:11pm
Thanks! The video is in the screenshot gallery at the start. Not in the text.
humanmattress 11 Feb @ 1:38pm
Awesome looking ship, can’t see the link to any videos. They must get removed for some reason! Would love to check out this in action

It isn't necessarily always the pivot point, iirc. Might be the case for the mediums.
Xerkus 30 Nov, 2024 @ 8:52am
I am trying to upgrade them to 1x2x1 mediums for a little bit more turning torque. I can afford to replace them after fights.

Do you know which part of the thruster is targeted? I expect it to be the pivot point which is the base block. If it is on the exhaust side then I might have drawn fire a bit towards the armor surface and somewhat exposed decoy in the process.
Ente  [author] 30 Nov, 2024 @ 8:08am
@Xerkus: I use the small ones generally as decoys to draw fire into the armour. If you replace them with better ones that will still work, but you may lose those thrusters if you take a lot of armor damage.

@suntrip: Hitscan really only means that the shot hits instantly. You press the fire, and whatever is below the crosshair will instantly get hit. Its much easier to hit this way, as the opponent can't dodge a projectile, as with the non-hitscan weapons. The blocking thing here is one of the many weird things that EGS has and isn't really intrinsic to the hitscan mechanic itself.
Xerkus 30 Nov, 2024 @ 7:28am
Ente, if I replace small decoy thrusters in armor bulk with medium plasmas will I regret it? They are no longer one block deep in the armor that way
suntrip 29 Nov, 2024 @ 6:59pm
Oh, that's good information. I've read about hitscan on the discords but never quite understood what it meant.Thank you!
I took this one out for some fun last night at core 7 with a couple of extra laser turrets, trying to do the Dronelands mission for the aux core blueprint so I could get the Marauder built. It went okay and I got my first four drone parts from a harvester, but then just as I got the next four from a second one, a Guardian swooped by and blew the rear off my Hydra. It had been bugging me for quite some time, but I hoped that I had time to loot 2 km away. Lesson learned, and combat virginity taken I guess :)
Ente  [author] 29 Nov, 2024 @ 9:29am
Light railguns are hitscan, so their shots will get blocked by your hull depending on camera position. If you want to use them in 3rd person view, place them somewhere on top. If you want to use them from the 1st person bridge, place them on the underside.

I usually find precision coring an unnecessary waste of time, but thats just subjective me. You do you :)
suntrip 28 Nov, 2024 @ 11:29pm
Slowly getting into space combat in RE2 with this one. Did a few T1 combat / Bandit asteroid fields last night to ease my way into it.
I was looking at placing some light railguns in place of the deco antennas on the bottom (either side of the decoy turret). To have something for precision shooting/coring. Would that make sense? I feel they're pretty exposed there but otherwise it seems like a suitable spot.
Alternatively I could remove a couple of armor blocks in the nose and bury them there but that would spoil the idea of the decoy turret I guess.
LlamaaRaamaa 27 Nov, 2024 @ 11:54am
@rollinshultz - The marauder won't fit inside, have you seen that thing? it's insane for an SV
Ente  [author] 14 Nov, 2024 @ 3:35pm
Added the video again. No Idea why that was missing.
MrGoobz 14 Nov, 2024 @ 11:53am
Pardon me, I'm currently on my phone but I cannot find the link for the video of the hydra fighting the destroyer, where can I find this?
Ente  [author] 5 Nov, 2024 @ 10:34am
Thanks Bubo Ferro and AntonRollad6! :)

@AntonRollad6: That would require a complete rebuild of the bow structure. A simple copy&paste wouldn't work, as the Nightfall is much, much larger than the Hydra.
AntonRollad6 5 Nov, 2024 @ 9:50am
Hello Ente! Really love your stuff! All of it is really awesome.
Im a new player and I'm working on building the Hyrda. But I also REALLY love the look of the Nightfall's bow. That open port/docking bay just looks sick as hell
I was wondering if you might have any advice on how to copy/mimic that onto the hydra in place of the forward/2nd bridge

Thanks for all the hard killer work and designs!
Bubo Ferro 18 Oct, 2024 @ 10:22am
love the "hooded" top hull look <3
Alenvire 21 Aug, 2024 @ 12:55am
I have not braved legacy yet. lol. I plant to have something bigger before that. Probably this ships big sister.
Ente  [author] 18 Aug, 2024 @ 10:47pm
If you are going for legacy use xeno. Otherwise combat steel.
Alenvire 18 Aug, 2024 @ 4:20pm
I brought this into my world and did the upgrades. What armor blocks to you recommend in the front? Combat or Xeno? There appears to be a lot of combat and I wonder if throwing in a bit of xeno will help out.
Ente  [author] 5 Aug, 2024 @ 4:02am
They cost quite a bit of CPU, which means you will have less CPU for weapons/shields/thrust. I.e. things that actually help with combat - Plasma turbines do nothing for you in combat.

Not a hard rule obviously, there are hybrid use-cases where you would still want turbines. But simplified speaking, you need to be aware that every turbine could be a turret/weapon.
jbspencer03 5 Aug, 2024 @ 12:52am
im pretty new to empyrion. why not put plasma turbines on a combat ship?
Ente  [author] 25 Jul, 2024 @ 12:04am
Yeah you need to buy them or find them on wrecks
ZeroCool 19 Jul, 2024 @ 8:06pm
I don't see rocket thrusters in the tech tree. This is a BP that requires items you have to find or buy?
Ente  [author] 19 Jul, 2024 @ 9:13am
Yeah new RE2 item
ZeroCool 19 Jul, 2024 @ 7:18am
Rocket thrusters?
Ente  [author] 16 Jul, 2024 @ 1:37pm
Noice! Yeah will probably do one as well, at some point. Will be a while though.
GREYSE 11 Jul, 2024 @ 6:18am
We need something more, like Griffin or Eclipse! Please!
Ente  [author] 7 Jul, 2024 @ 6:00am
Thanks Nedison! The ship is built to not need chargers and capacitors. If you really want to use them still the hydroponics area is a possibility. You can also use the armor spare area to place stuff there Rip out some blocks there if you need space. Even though you might limit your ability to tank on armor then.
Nedison 6 Jul, 2024 @ 1:15pm
Great design Ente!

One question. Where do you add shield chargers and capacitors? :) Currently I've placed them on hydroponics area.
Ente  [author] 6 Jul, 2024 @ 2:01am
Thanks Guys! :)

@rollinshultz: Nope will not fit in there.

@Zartan5000 : The video is at core 5 yes. But please be aware that it does require some good knowledge of the Imerat to know where you can hang out and what to shoot first. If you aren't familiar with that better do some upgrades first.
Zartan5000 5 Jul, 2024 @ 2:24pm
First of all, another amazing ship! Second, in the video, are you fighting the destroyer stock as it comes at core 5?
rollinshultz 4 Jul, 2024 @ 3:04pm
Quote: "it may get broken". I'm, so used to RE2 breaking stuff, it doesn't even phase me now. I usually have to modify ships anyway when they don't spawn in correctly especially when they spawn with ION drives.
Will the Marauder fit inside it?
LYNX 4 Jul, 2024 @ 1:50pm
I might have the odd feeling of being in an armor-tanking Caldari Drake, but I gotta try this ^^
Nice ship, kudos o/
Ente  [author] 23 Jun, 2024 @ 11:23am
If you keep your bow towards the enemy, as you should, then no not a problem at all. The core and cpu aren't targetable, so the armor really only needs to catch the occasional missed projectile. Thats basically nothing.
><> DarkUncle 23 Jun, 2024 @ 8:59am
With shield penetration, is the core and cpu room being covered by only a single layer of combat steel ever a problem?
Ipurgepeople 7 Jun, 2024 @ 5:10pm
Fascinating, I might just have to give it a shot!
Ente  [author] 7 Jun, 2024 @ 10:52am
I did fight and kill a legacy devastator and infector with it at the same time, after upgrading it to core 9. A single infector should not pose any problems. Upgrade to core 7 if you want to be sure.
Ipurgepeople 7 Jun, 2024 @ 10:30am
Would this thing be capable of taking on a Legacy Infector with some CPU and gun upgrades or no?
Ente  [author] 25 May, 2024 @ 10:39am
Thanks Adonnay! :)
Adonnay 25 May, 2024 @ 1:57am
That is one sexy Motherfluffer :D
CheesyWamBam 23 May, 2024 @ 1:10pm
Ah ok, makes sense. I did see the CPU cost and wasn't planning to use them because of it but thought there might have been another reason. Like a big bada boom boom lol. Awesome build as always dude. I look forward to the RE2 Eclipse!! lol :)
