I personally do not like the new fast track stage, though I will start with what I like. The deserters are the most interesting faction present, they feel like a high tier faction brought down to an early game power level, with melee fodder and assault rifle bearing damage dealers.
The waysiders don't have enough going on, they throw things and dodge, and that's all they really have. The westerners are also a bit flat, they shoot you, and have melee units that are slightly harder to kill, and that's it.
you can headshot em preety well.
I don't know what's worse.
Train level 2 where melee weapon is useless, or Bosses what his main attack are instant kill.
though he did get stuck when he spawned on the balcony forcing me to end my endless run... dunno if that can even be fixed
