You're not alone—another player recently brought up the same issue about gender-specific hairstyles being ignored when pawns spawn.
I shared some thoughts and workaround ideas in my response, which might also be helpful in your case.
If you're interested, please check the comment thread from around June 4.
I truly understand how frustrating this can be.
Unfortunately, I haven’t found a perfect solution yet, but I’m continuing to test and explore.
If anyone else happens to know more about this, I’d love to hear your input as well.
Thanks again, and take care! 🙇
I'll keep doing my best to live up to your kind words 💪
Hope you have fun customizing your pawns!
I’ve just pushed an update to match the release of RimWorld 1.6.
Fortunately, it seems like this update didn’t affect the mod much—everything looks fine on a quick check.
But if you notice anything unusual, please don’t hesitate to let me know!
I’ll continue to support version 1.6 moving forward. Thanks again, and happy RimWorld adventures!
Your kind words truly encouraged me, and now I feel inspired to create more glasses variations!
With the 1.6 update just around the corner, my main focus will be on keeping everything compatible, but I’ll definitely continue expanding the accessories too.
Hope your RimWorld adventures are full of fun and surprises!
Talk about perfect timing for the update! 😄
Thanks so much for checking it out!
@cains8329
I'm really glad to hear you’re enjoying the mod—thank you!
For glasses and similar accessories, I usually make them as separate items instead of attaching them to hairstyles.
You might like this mod I made, which includes standalone glasses:
Ponpeco Accessories

If you're looking for hairstyles that include glasses, I recommend this adorable mod by another creator. I personally love using it! (Apologies if you already knew about it!)

@Head
Thanks a lot for jumping in and sharing that!
・Added new hairstyles.
・Now compatible with “Young and Old Hair”!
https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3488673364
This mod restricts certain hairstyles by age group.
When used together, it prevents scenarios like toddlers with pompadours or grandmas with twin-tails, resulting in more natural-looking character spawns.
・Hair categories have been split into three groups.
・Minor texture adjustments.
・Shortened some hairstyle names that were too long.
I just realized how long my reply was—sorry for the wall of text!😲
I'm truly grateful that you took the time to read it.
Thank you for the extra info!
You might be right—there just aren’t many male-only hairstyles, so the probability might be skewed. I’ll double-check the gender tags and investigate a bit more.
If I find anything new, I’ll let you know!
Again, thank you so much!
Even when the Ideology DLC is inactive, I’ve observed that gender-specific hairstyles may still sometimes be ignored.
Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to identify a clear cause for this either, and it’s currently under investigation.
I’m sorry I can’t offer a solid fix yet, but if I discover anything useful, I’ll be sure to share it in a future update.
(If anyone happens to have insights into this issue, I’d really appreciate it if you could share them!)
Apologies for the long comment, and thank you again for your interest.
I hope you continue to enjoy your RimWorld adventures!
Start a temporary new game with the hairstyle mod enabled.
Then, use this very helpful mod to copy the hairstyle settings:
https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2820645169
I recommend copying not just your own faction, but also pirates, tribals, the Empire, etc.
After that, switch back to your main save and paste the copied hairstyle data.
Note: Dev Mode must be enabled to paste settings.
(To be continued in the next comment...)
This may not apply to every situation, but if your Ideology-assigned hairstyles were randomized (which can happen when adding hairstyle mods mid-game), here are two possible ways to adjust them manually:
・Batch gender assignment by category
In the next update, I plan to split the current “Ponpeco Hair” category into three:
PHair Male, PHair Female, and PHair Any.
https://imgur.com/a8knEd2
This will allow you to manage gender assignment per category.
In Dev Mode, you can edit hairstyle preferences for both your own and other factions.
(To be continued in the next comment...)
Thank you for your comment!
I'm really glad to hear you're enjoying the mod!
About hairstyle gender settings
RimWorld (vanilla) does support gender-specific hairstyles, and I’ve assigned gender tags to all hairstyles in this mod.
However, I've also seen male pawns spawn with female hairstyles, so you're not alone.
I suspect this might be related to the Ideology DLC.
When hairstyles are added mid-game, Ideology may assign them randomly, ignoring gender tags.
But if the hairstyle existed at the start of the game, gender settings are usually respected.
That said, in my latest test, the new hairstyle wasn’t assigned to anyone—male or female.
I’m still unsure and a bit confused.
(To be continued in the next comment...)
It's fine if there isn't any, still made my day.
This mod is actually coming up on its one-year anniversary!
I’ve had so much fun updating it thanks to everyone’s feedback and support.
I really appreciate it, and I’ll keep doing my best to make it even better!
I truly enjoy making these mods, but knowing that other players are using and enjoying them brings me even greater joy.
I hope you have a lot of fun with it!
Thank you so much for using my mod!
I'm really happy to hear that — drawing long hair is such an enjoyable time for me! 😊
Thank you so much! I'm really happy to hear that!
For drawing, I use a Japanese illustration software called “Paint Tool SAI 2.”
I don't rely on any features that are exclusive to SAI, so I believe you could achieve a similar art style with other programs like CLIP STUDIO, FireAlpaca, or ibisPaint as well.
I’d love to see what you create—have fun experimenting with your own style!
Thank you so much for your always warm and thoughtful feedback!
I tend to over-detail things when I draw, and finding a good overall balance is still a challenge for me.
I have so much respect for the work of other mod creators—I’m constantly learning from their incredible skills.
Curly hair was quite tricky to draw, but after a lot of trial and error, it somehow turned out nicely, even surprising me a bit! 😄
I’d love to try adding more curly hairstyles besides ponytails in the future, little by little.
If you have any requests or ideas, please feel free to share them anytime!
Reminded me that I wanted to suggest you some more curly haircuts :)
As the curly hair mod that I'm using currently has much lower quality than your mod.
I started modding simply because I wanted to use these hairstyles in my own game, but somewhere along the way, creating them became even more fun than playing.
Knowing that other players enjoy my work is the greatest reward I could ask for.
Your support and encouragement mean the world to me—thank you!
I’ll keep them in mind for future updates. 😆
I may not be able to fulfill every request due to my skills, time, and the mod’s concept, but I truly appreciate the opportunity to hear what kind of hairstyles would make everyone happy!

I'm so relieved that everything is working fine again.
If you ever run into any other issues, don’t hesitate to reach out!
I really appreciate you using my mod.
I couldn't pinpoint the cause on my end, but there's a chance that my network connection was unstable and the upload might not have been complete.
Just in case, I've re-uploaded the mod with fresh data.
Please try updating again, and if the issue persists, feel free to let me know. I'll do my best to fix it!
Oh no, that’s a big problem!
Thank you so much for bringing this to my attention—I’ll look into it immediately.
If anyone else is experiencing the same issue, please feel free to reach out. I really appreciate your help!

This hairstyle comes with the flower wreath as a single unit.
If you're looking for a standalone flower wreath, my mod Ponpeco Accessories includes a clover flower crown. Feel free to check it out!

I looked up Eleanor from Civ6—she's really adorable!
Now I'm tempted to create a separate rose flower wreath as well.
