As of testing this evening, it does not work and throws an error. Went ahead and threw log files in a discussion to keep comments clean.

As a near term work around, Ferny's Easy Caravan Formation DOES work, but it's just a "Send instantly" tool, rather than having a more balanced delay like this one has.

@BlueyBirdy it seems the problem was RimCities, im going to assume youre playing the extreme warfare modpack since so am i and i have the exeact same problem as you. After removing the mod this one started working and my caravans started traveling and resting again

yeah this is broken and they wont pack caravans. had some of mine pack untill it was -5 hours left before i used dev mode. Someone mentioned it was the newst vanilla expanded framework update but i dont know

It appears as though the latest Vanilla Expanded Framework update has broken this mod. My caravan’s packing time is going into minus numbers and there’s no way to cancel the caravan.

You can skip the preparation time with the Set Up Camp mod, you just need to set up camp and leave immediately

Im having a issue where I cant reform caravan, after leaving the colony, i have to manually walk everyone to the edge of map to leave

"Nocturnal caravan" option in "Vanilla Patches" by ThatHitmann is incompatible with this mod. Took me a day to figure that out. And before somebody misunderstands me, I'm not asking for compatibility, I'm just reporting in case somebody get's a similar issue.

It seems like when I removed this mod, loading into the actual game save seems to have stopped my game and frozed it.

Well that sucks. :/ Use at your caution.

don't know if its because of my mods, but when i try forming a caravan, during the time when on the world map, we can see "Busy packing etc..." well it makes my game lag at lot

@Dutha insect hives in undiscovered caves and enemies in unopened ancient danger rooms sometime cause that for new colonies. Also wild fires I think. Also invisible anomaly enemies but that's so rare I doubt it's your issue. When you attempt to send a caravan and get that warning, after 4 hours you'll be able to send them fine regardless of what the hidden threat is until you reload a save. And if you are really in a hurry you can use the vanilla send button on the caravan loading screen to have the pawns pack up and walk off the map normally.

I'm not sure if this is a mod conflict or what, but I'm getting the error "Cannot pack, hostiles on map" whenever I try to form a caravan. I don't currently have any hostiles on my colony map, none of my colonists are in any type of "state" that's uncontrollable, and I'm not sure what could be on the global map that would count as hostile (it's just the normal quest objective markers.)

sadly it seems this mod is incompatible with mechanoid caravans, as it blocks the mechanoid only caravans:

Found this gem thanks to a reddit post. This is now added to my 'essential qol' list.

@Jaded On my game settings, using caravans to flee from raids is depressingly routine. Fixed wealth + high difficulty + low player skill. My personal justification is that if I sacrifice a few animals as bait, it makes sense if the rest of my colony escapes.

Given how many times I've seen caravan loading absolutely just bug out later in the game, this is a huge help and way outweighs my concern about balance on the super rare (if anyone does it at all) instance anyone actually packs up to flee a raid they can't defend from.

I don't think it affects vehicles atm, it will have an option for that in the future though.

Yes it essentially moves all the packing to be done in the caravan on the world instead with all items being instantly removed from the map. The amount of time the caravan spends waiting at the base can be customised.

if it works how i imagine it would, then this is really needed, even the "load items" mods i use have delay issues
