Under normal circumstances, the shield highlight effect should only display for a few seconds. The issue you're experiencing is likely caused by conflicts/interactions with other mods.
Try temporarily disabling other mods to identify which one might be interfering with the highlight system.
Perhaps there were problems after the update... Let me check...

In the mean time i will ask the modder of the thermal camera.
Because this mod uses the custom data on the control seat to store the shield values, it overwrites all other Custom Data inputs for the other scripts.
Is it possible to have the shield value an option via shield display script instead of solely on Main Cockpit? Or, not sure how easy it would be, but have it made compatible with other scripts' Custom Data inputs?

Sorry, I used 20 large red ships to attack each other for 20 minutes, until half of them were completely destroyed, but I did not encounter the situation you mentioned.
