I love this mod, sad that it doesn't work with the Modern EU4 mod even if it doesn't make sense there (since it starts at a post 2020 date)

the Sankore Mosque and University located in Timbuktu is older than Oxford believed to have been founded in the late 1000s and early 1100s. im not sure if its already in game or not but i didnt notice it on the description list

@DaVincix Oh thank you again, one more uni added to the mod thanks to your comment ^^
DaVincix 10 Jul, 2024 @ 6:07pm
Yeah, it's a not so easy field to determine what counts as "university", when looking into the whole world, ancient and medieval times. Especially fe. the Asian locations, there could be mentioned a lot more locations of learning.

But i guess we should have at least also Isfahan/Persia, the school of Medical Sciences, probably the most famous (and advanced) one already in the middleage, founded 1024/1025.
ReyDeLeon  [author] 10 Jul, 2024 @ 12:13pm
@gamv1989 Thanks! They are already added!
@DrFunnyFun I left it for further investigation if it existed later on in the game's timeframe and... It's now added aswell ^^ Thanks for reminding me :)
DrFunnyFun 8 Jul, 2024 @ 3:37pm
You ironically didn't add the oldest university in the world - University of Al-Qarawiyyin in Fez
gamv1989 8 Jul, 2024 @ 2:24pm
Hi, Mexico had the Universidad Real y Pontificia de México in 1551 in Mexico city and Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla in 1578 in the ingame province of Cholula
ReyDeLeon  [author] 7 Jul, 2024 @ 9:53am
@ DaVincix Hey, great, it is now added ^^
@AQUILA Thank you ^^
@Mekh_Tea Yea, I always felt like it's a missing feature of EU4's that's why I made this mod :P
Mekh_Tea 6 Jul, 2024 @ 7:51am
should be in the gane and honestly education deserves its own mechanic in eu 5
AQUILA 5 Jul, 2024 @ 7:29am

Thanks for the update
ReyDeLeon  [author] 2 Jul, 2024 @ 12:27pm
@Barococo Thank you for your input! I fixed it and added missing universities. :)
Barococo 2 Jul, 2024 @ 10:17am
I assume that with Loon (2974) you mean to represent the university of Leuven/Louvain? This should however be situated in the province of Brussels (92).
Staying in the Low Countries you forgot the universities of Franeker (Friesland; 100), founded in 1585 and Harderwijk (Gelre; 99), founded in 1648. Both were closed in 1811 after the annexation of the Netherlands by France.
ReyDeLeon  [author] 2 Jul, 2024 @ 9:50am
@DaVincix thanks, sources are wikipedia: List_of_oldest_universities_in_continuous_operation, pwn encyklopedia, Berlin, Humboldt-Uni will be added in the nearest update. I will add a province modifier also instead of a building modifier to make the mod more compatible

@HP LaserJet M110 Colour thank you, it will be present in the nearest update

@[Reyne] Rabbit thank you for kind words and nice suggestions, maybe an event where you choose a dean will impact the functioning of a university
[Reyne] Rabbit 2 Jul, 2024 @ 12:58am
If we're talking about old universities, wouldn't it be the case that old universities came into existence because of the different faiths? Therefor they'd be linked to the faith?
If I'm not mistaken, this should be the case with the majority of old universities (but maybe not all, I don't know).

Maybe it's an idea to link universities to an event, which either grants a choice of additional (local/global) conversion strength (because they did contribute to their respective faiths), or weaken it (because some also contributed to their respective heresies), or something alike for institution spread (due to the faith embracing certain institutions (renaissance arts)) or debuff (due to the faith rejecting certain institutions (bookpress!))?

This is post is ment as food for thought, because this is a nice flavor mod already :)
DaVincix 1 Jul, 2024 @ 7:11am
Fired it up. Excellent!

Check Berlin, Humboldt-Uni, 1809.

Btw., the vanilla buildings file content is a compatibility issue. I propose the following:
a) Make the hint that mods with 00_buildings.txt file must be put below your mod
or
b) resist using that file in your mod ;)
or try
c) extracting the uni code-block and make that a separate buildings file like fe. "uni_building.txt", so only that block can overwrite. That method works at least in other pdx games.
HP LaserJet M110 Colour 1 Jul, 2024 @ 5:21am
Nice mod! Technically Lothian should have a univeristy in 1444, St Andrews (in Fife but it's part of Lothian in vanilla EU4) was founded in 1413 ;)
DaVincix 1 Jul, 2024 @ 4:01am
Thumbsup! Will check that mod out, soon.

Thanks a lot for this impressive work. What was your source or sources?
ReyDeLeon  [author] 30 Jun, 2024 @ 2:48pm
@peta393 It's present ingame, just wasn't written in steam description. Thanks for spotting and comment :)
peta393 30 Jun, 2024 @ 1:13pm
You missing Carls University in Prague :)
ReyDeLeon  [author] 29 Jun, 2024 @ 9:29am
I changed it to 75%/20%/5%
ReyDeLeon  [author] 29 Jun, 2024 @ 8:39am
@Stacks AI's will choose 1st option 85% of time, 2nd 10% of time and 3rd option 5% of time which is multiplied by x1000 if the nation is in debt so not every game should act exactly the same.
Stacks 29 Jun, 2024 @ 6:54am
Will the AI choose the historical option by default when they get the event to spawn a university after 1444?
