Building a sun diver as good as my uploaded ones takes tons of testing. The main issue is crew delay when shields lose power during rotation. Crews idle in quarters, not ready with power cells. If we could set them to “standby” in the shield generator with a power cell, these would be easier to build any size and more reliable.
My near-perfect designs come from trial-and-error. I tweak shield gens, move quarters a block or two to cut travel time. I haven’t made a single-tile centerline design work yet.
My medium diver has 2 shield gens on the outer layer, large has 4. A 3-gen outer layer hits a weird middle ground. I haven’t made an uneven centered design work as well as I want. I’d love to see other designs that work as well, in different sizes too, more options the better!
the tips of the clover design also have the weakest power delivery since the shields are more compact it is harder to fit crew quarters into ideal locations, but it roughly balances itself out and the tips of the clover are still more then enough to tank the sun up close
the same luxuries can not be had as easily with smaller designs
Congratulation on uploading! I am happy you came up with a solution, but am somewhat disappointed it was so simple. I made a design like this as version 2.0.0. It failed due to too few shields in the clover's four slopes. I suppose I wasn't thinking ambitiously enough. My efforts were focused on using armor slopes to alter shield arcs manually instead of using a solid wall of emitters.
