Report a translation problem
No problem, I miss things sometimes. Just glad I can fix.
most maps work on all difficulty settings.
I have a few maps where settings change a lot, or custom setting required for intersting implementation
maps made before U5(badtide) should still work without problems,
Exception: in maps with lots of water pollution can affect large areas and creator had no pollution in mind. You can harvest badwater in badtide and work around that most times.
Update 6(U6) maps may be broken as options existed that no longer work U7
(watersource placement / may get deleted as not valid anymore)
Most maps didnt place sources on overhangs, so most maps not affected.
Some maps are made for mods for unique effect like changing max height limit.
You need mod on those.
then when looking through maps i read some comments and the creators are like "yeah this is balance for normal, or this map was made before badtides was a thing, or make setting X"
and im just like, dang i didn't know maps were made with custom settings i thought they were all balanced around being beatable on normal and challenging on hard.
and then most map descriptions are like "map size blank then story" and no additional information like settings or if map hasn't been balanced etc.
Sorry, good points, need to check if my other map descriptions are up to date too.
Reading Comments should NEVER be necessary to understand a map.
For this map, severall issues:
players played and won map on hard with badtide
more than one interesting difficulty setting including hard and badtide
Updated map has grown berry bushes with ripe fruits now.
Thank you for feedback, I will update description.
Nice, if expierianced players need to think outside the box the map works as intended.
If you just want to build a nice base with a twist, you can deactivate badwater.
YES, some maps can be harder on their own if you do something weird ^^
For some of my maps you should read description as I write when you need to know complicated things or hard mode is barely possible
"Not an English speaker myself and you notice with my german Grammar sometimes"
Really nice map/idea. But you really need to know the game really good to do it I think if you don't have good random bad water.
I've managed it on the third try in normal with iron teeth. Forced me to think hard on it.
Bad water seem random in the game. I've bad water cycle 7, cycle 8 and cycle 9. It means that you can go without water for around 4*19 = 76 days !!!
@Arcadaeus : I read your pinned comment after succeding the map :p .... +1 for unpredictability du to bad waters and the fact that difficulty is kind of changed. Not sure with this map that hard is harder than normal.
my solution for first win :
I managed it basically with inventing ressurection protocol ^^ (only possible with iron teeth, i'm sure people have already think about it but i've never read/watched content about timbertown, just played it) which allows to generate a new population after an indefinite period of drought.
Strong runs, not sorry for the berries

Nice, have not played Ironteeth in a while.
The map is definitly hard enough on normal without badtide. (recommended setting)
beating it on anything else is like an extra archievement.
easy: risk of running out of water as drought may come too late
normal: starting ponds running dry and flood at roughly same time
hard: brutal early floods, but more "water" with more floods
badtide: takes away floods and adds unpredictability late game
2 badtides in a row and your water for two cycles is gone
this may be the hardest map, so congratulation on beating it on hardest difficulty
Lore-wise my dam is controlled by misguided AI and with your dam,
you basicly gave it a hardware update
over 500 people trying, failing, and trying again
You proved that you can put up base despite the circumstances
and that you can adapt to anything
Thank you for giving this a shot, you have been flooded ^^
The maps I made after my small lake are more technical as I discovered negative sources there.
I always write what you need in the description. I play on normal, so Im not as familiar with hard.
Maybe I make something similar with badwater one day
its called SUBMARINE THE RUSTY SPEAR
was a lot of work but decided to finish it before update 6 goes live
after re-reading your comment: YES IT IS POSSIBLE -but
My dam has basicly many holes and can expell a lot of water
Dosnt because surrounded by -8 sources
A single small hole lets only small ammounts of water pass.
Yes, this limits the flow. Yes, you can run a river with it through drought, and
Yes I have built this
BUT
You need a reservoir and if it runs dry, no river
Lets say in your map, you build a reservoir behind your central river and let water out a small hole,
then you can have a river in drought as long as you have water in reservoir
but I dont think its worth it to make space for and how long this tank lasts? Long drought...
SO, YES -same trick, and completly different map-vibe
I suggest a new map if you want to try
You need a water reservoir for that (like behind my dam)
There is no watersource that can produce at drought sorry ( if I am wrong tell me please)
a power 0 source can be used for deco, but cant be removed by players
(also makes overhangs indestructable when placed top)
Source guide:
Negative sources absorb water up to the negative power
example:
Power 5 watersource runs next a -3 watersource = some water gets through
Power 5 watersource runs next a -5 watersource = may stop water depending on placement
-8 watersource = stronger
so it is possible to just reduce water or stop completly
Negative Badsources work the same way but may be worked on with the rig building /not tested
they are basicly a drain you can close with a building
power zero produces no water (I have to test the rig thing)
any non bad-source on the map edge blocks water from exiting map on their place
(above AND below)
in a map surrounded by source 0 water cant leave edge
All sources stop at drought
The negative watersources absorb all water that would exit the dam normally.
to fill the dam to this level I have to use a lot of sources as the negative ones drain a lot constantly
when drought starts ALL sources stop working.
So the negative sources stop absorbing and allow the water to flow past them
normal sources stop too, so the water in the dam has to get you through drought
I also gave starting water by placing sources and deleted them to leave the water in editor
had to figure all this out myself
+ Map is harder as I make it out in the description (tested it out when I wrote it, sorry)
play Weirdwater Valley if you want to play an easier version
Tipp: deactivate badwater as it uses up important droughts that you need
My map Weirdwater Valley uses the same technic
and i am working on a 2nd underwater map
