We are in the same boat. I think every (modable) game has according mods, that disable (default) "clutter" content. Only very few games have a one-button function, for on/off UI/FX stuff. And unfortunately game devs think it makes a game comfortable with with tons of info-boxes, icons etc. Imo. default should be mouseover activation, that would be the best compromise. Plus a button for on/off, or buttons (pl) for a few major UI/FX functions.
Anyway I agree with your last comment, I don't see the public targetted for these elements. For any games (total war included of course) the cleaner, the better, in my opinion.
As for UI and FX contents, i wonder why CA offers such according settings only halfbaken, when there are so many users who reject the cartoony elements. I mean, it can be default, but should be easy access to disable that stuff.
What do you mean with "What a pity"?
What a pity!
Anyway, enjoy bro and have fun with more authentic battle without clumsy elements :)
I'm just ready with my DB edits for today and will start a new Ramses campaign, and as that starts with a (possible) battle, i'll will seeif i get rid of the ugly or rather stupid looking huge banners.
Actual banner bearing units are very okay though, but those are then real skinned unit models, not whipping pyloms with flags, lol.
You access the panel of these elements by maintaining "space bar" during the battle.
Hope it works.
And yes ui_unit_flags is set to 0 for me.
Will test again, but i believe i playtested that already.
Sorry for spamming comments here.
The UI offers a slider where one can reduce the size of banners, and putting that on the most small setting is size 8 but it does not offer 0. And as far as i could observe, that setting makes no difference anyway.
First thank you for your comment.
Then to answer your question, when you are trying to personalize TW games you need to access the "preferences.script.txt"
This file is present in the following path: C:\Users\[your_name_user]\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\PharaohDynasties\scripts
There search (Ctrl + F) for the word Banner, and then you'll change for 0.
Normally I think it's what you are looking for if the options In Game are not sufficient ;).
Perhaps you can help me, i wonder where i can effectively disable the unit banners in the battle mode.
It was always possible in former TW titles, fe. within preferences.txt. The according file from TWPD has such a line but setting unit banners off there has no effect in my game. And just the game UI does not offer it.
And yes like you saw, had the same idea as you concerning the Building Icons (sadly on previous title hiding these types of icons was not successful, when I have some time I'll look into it, because I'm also thinking these icons are way too invasive, and so "arcadish"...
"Future update and work planned:
- Extend the effects and Ui hidden on the battlefield if possible (like building icons etc." -> I cannot wait!
