Just came across an Orphan Camp map with just x92495 wood logs inside a room.
I don't really know what happened here but I guess I'll never be out of wood. :papyrus:

You should put a MayRequire for Royalty on the hospitality quests, it causes errors if you only have Biotech.

Huh. I never knew that I wanted this mod until I came across it.
This will be pretty good for a number of mod lists that I'm planning.
Especially any playthrough that has a colony that will be decent people or a xenotype that can make more of itself by mutating others.
Even the DUNE Butlerian Jihad will want this (more humans agains the machines).
And the 40K colonies (more warriors for the Emperor).

Try unsubscribing and then resubscribing, maybe steam didn't download the update for you for some reason

Mod description says it was updated for 1.6 but in game it is still showing it as 1.5 only

I just had a very unusual encounter. I got a quest to pick up an orphan in a camp near my base, so I sent a couple people over. I then had a psychic ship mechanoid raid land on my base while they were away, just before I got to the orphan. So far so normal. Getting to the orphan camp an hour later, I was immediately hit by a raid on the orphan camp! This was with the full value of my colony, so a couple colonists, a few horses, and a 3-year-old with no defenses against 40 elite mercenaries. I use Cassandra, so it shouldn't be possible for a raid to occur within the same hour as another raid. This was like an "ambush" but instead of being scaled to my pawns, it the size of a full raid that would hit my colony.

The Orphan Camp doesn't have an icon on the map like other Quests. Is this normal?

I was already destroying a raider camp nearby, so I swung around on the way over. It was winter the second year, which is important because the orphans had very few clothes of awful quality (the boy didn't even have pants). Also, there were three of them, and I wasn't prepared for three children, so I had to carve out a new bedroom pronto. Also-also, they count for raid size, which was painful since I'm not sending an 8-year-old to fight. The 7-year-old girl is maximum adorbs with Ponpeco's checkered hood and coat and a teddy bear, however, totes worth. GarryLv doesn't need to worry about it, these kids are primed and ready for warcrimes, however. I took my eyes off the adorable 7-year-old for a second to designate some mining space, and I suddenly hear a "shnk!" "MOOO!", look up, and there's the adorable little girl hauling in the muffalo baby she just auto-butchered with a blood pool behind her.

I'm using this with Ponpeco's Kid Clothing/Furniture, and some other faction mods. I had some colonel (Dead Man's Switch) ask me to babysit their daughter while some political thing was going on I was told I didn't need to know about to keep her safe until things blew over. It was like 20 days into the game, so she was a bit unhappy with the unpaved cave we were living in, but wound up forming strong bonds. A few seasons later, we had a pair of satyr children (from Roo's mod) who came in and made a bunch of really age-inappropriate comments but generally, they got along. (For some reason, my children never go skywatching or nature running, however... It must be some mod conflict, but I can't figure it out, and I don't want to turn off mods to try to root it out and risk breaking this save.) Then, I paid for a tip (RimQuest) from a passing trader, and was told about "some orphans" in a place nearby.

Would you be open to adding sliders to adjust the frequency of how often these quests appear? I'm liking the idea and for now I made a local copy with the numbers manually adjusted up if I want to make babysitting-themed runs.

this mod is awesome! i rescued a bunch of kids, and then a neighbor offered to adopt one of them. our colony was still starving in the middle of a harsh winter (all my crops died by then), so it felt like a good ending.

so I'm playing with Dead Man's switch and one of their people asked me to look after their kid while they deal with some politifcal trouble. Kid lands and it's a mechanoid lol, not sure what to do with it since I don't have a mechinator yet.

Love this mod.

A random wanderer joined in, some weeks later the orphan event kicked in and one of them turned out to be the wanderer's son and the second orphan was then adopted by the Empire. Peak Rimworld storytelling.

I love this mod! Any chance you might add a small ritual (like the guaranlen linking, where it's not ideo-locked) to have an actual adoption, ie creating a parent/child relationship between the pawns in question? I think it'd want it's own unique relationship 'adopted parent/child' (not blood relatives, after all), but it'd be a good way to add another layer of wholesome community vibe on an already excellent mod :D

If Anomaly DLC is not enabled, Orphan camp will be missing Icon Texture.

Yeah, they are in the quest menu, the quests are Hospitality_Daycare, OrphanageChildRequest, OpportunitySite_OrphanCamp, AdoptionRequest(this one you need to have an orphan to appear)

yeah its weird, it only shows up when there are multiple lodgers and the asker is a leader of the faction, and not everytime. Even tho I don't have any lodgers0_label in the description for those specific descriptions

These are some really nice additions to the game. Any chance you can make an option to disable the goodwill loss from rejecting the Child Care Request? None of the other charity quests give you a loss of goodwill on rejecting to help. Also, if you play with more frequent quests like I do I fear this event will pop up semi regularly.

You can make the hospitality quest optional and only load with Royalty, just add the MayRequire attribute to the top node of the QuestScriptDef
