I do have a couple suggestions though. The current build recipe is the same as ordinary light armor (Steel Plates); I suggest you change it to be based around Girders and Construction Components... the quantity is simple to figure out: a girder for each edge, and a construction component for each corner.
I also would suggest changing the collision boxes to only cover the solid parts, so that little bits can drift through, and it doesn't do much to stop projectiles. I think that's possible, since it works on doors and other blocks that let things pass through openings.
We use to use Scaffolding mod but these look cooler and are colourable, Keep up the great work.
