planets in this game are not realistic.
With this skybox I feel like realism
Thats a space game so
its perfect

Totally understandable. Midspaces Speedmods are surprisingly hard to find as well.

Thanks Audiopulse, I havn't played for a while so I'm terribly unfamaliar with the current modding scene. I went ahead and added it into the description.

Hey Grimmers,
your built in Speedmod shouldnt be a problem, but if youd like you could also instead refer to Midspaces Speedmods:

I always wonder why everyone takes them skybox-included, when they could have it stand-alone. Less Mod-cluttering this way.

Thanks for the headsup Meatman, I've edited the new values and redisabled fog. I also decided to add some speed mod values which seems to be all the craze nowadays (460, 400), if it breaks anything I'll revert it.

If anyone else has any problems please lemme know.

Skybox is almost perfect for me now , there is one little thing i find the stars in the background cold get just a little bit more glow or shining (?) I know its not easy to get it well shining after converting .
But behind that , its a realy amazing looking Skybox well done !

Finally works for me, thank you for the instructions :)
I tryed to remove the small point that you used for aligning but for some reason the textur is just blank when i open it (tryed with Paint.Net) .

However, this small thing doesn't bother me at all, looks like a small sun in the distance, so thx again for the help

Glad to hear it Kevbad. Thanks for the heads up on the problem.

Just tried your Overview again and the sun-lit surfaces are normal again. Thanks for the mod, think it's great!
Grimmers  [author] 5 Nov, 2014 @ 1:56pm
Ahh, that's unfortunate. But yeah sure, just extract that same .sbm file into it's own folder with winrar or 7zip and then open up the Data/Environment.sbc file within it. Edit the "SunDirection" line to:
<SunDirection x="0.339467347" y="0.709795356" z="-0.617213368" />
and the "SunSizeMultiplier" value to "200" (or keep it at 100 or 150 if you like a smaller sun)

Extracting the .sbm into being just a normal folder will effectivly change the mod into your own personal version, which should keep steam from ever trying to redowload it. Just make sure to switch to it ingame since it'll be a different mod now.

You may notice a particularly large star where the sun used to be which was my reference for aligning, it should be easy enough to imagine it as a nova or a distant reflective station though. Sorry the updated version didn't match up for you, but I'm glad you like the mod enough to go through all that though.

And yeah it's a great little comic, glad you like it.
Dwrlesky 5 Nov, 2014 @ 11:19am
I deleted the file and steam downloaded it now correctly, but unfortunately the sun is still to low for me, max Output is around 80 from 120kWh. Maybe you can tell me how to change it by myself so you dont have to change it for everyone who likes it as it is now?
Anyway thx for your effort :)

I already stared to read the comic, I am a Elder Scrolls fan, Skyrim is the game i played most on Steam.

Thank your for sharing it with me ;)

Possibly, try unsubcribing and resubscribing or deleting 334855676.sbm in your C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Mods folder to force it to redownload. The sun should more or less be on the opposite side of the sky from the initial version, so it should be pretty easy to tell when it's changed. It's only a slight few degrees off from the position in the default astroids.

And thanks. I believe it was made by an anonymous artist on 4chan or some other. The character is from the Prequel webcomic though, http://www.prequeladventure.com/ . I highly recommend it, especially if you're an Elder Scrolls fan.
Dwrlesky 4 Nov, 2014 @ 12:58pm
For some reason the sun is still where it used to be. Is it possible that Steam didn't download the update? I'll try it again tomorrow

btw I like your profile pic, Simple drawn but it looks good. Where have you got it or is it selfmade? ;D
Grimmers  [author] 4 Nov, 2014 @ 6:58am
I had the sun moved too far away and the lighting was going haywire it seems. Moved it way closer and shrunk it's size, seems to be corrected now. Thanks for the feedback.
Kevbad 4 Nov, 2014 @ 2:42am
Seems to have developed a problem rendering sun-lit surfaces. Can't see why as it was perfect at first (yesterday) Did one of the updates cause this problem?
Grimmers  [author] 3 Nov, 2014 @ 12:25pm
Thank you bringing those issues to light Dwrlesky and J4xon.

I've re-rendered the skybox to try an eliminate the color banding which was causing the visible borders and also realigned it to use an almost-vanilla sun position, so solar panels made using the vanilla skybox should now work. So both problems *should* be fixed now.
J4xon 3 Nov, 2014 @ 9:16am
Nice Earth view , but i see some borders on my screen.
Dwrlesky 2 Nov, 2014 @ 1:53am
Looks really nice, but it completely busts my SolarPanels, because the sun is somewhere else.
Don't want to rebuild everything
IamGood 1 Nov, 2014 @ 6:31pm
everything is better then that asteroid field -_-
nice look bu the way
