I figured they wouldn't be appearing as-is, but I apparently forgot a config flag. Will be fixed shortly

Is there a way to prevent the wookie voices from showing up on resistance fighters? Maybe I'm just unlucky, but both times that I got an extra resistance soldier on a mission, they spawned with the wookie voice. It's jarring (cause they're human).

This discussion just made me remember that the mod "Children Of The King 2.0 [WOTC]" also have a Boltcaster that is categorized as a sniper rifle.

yea i will, btw. "Dark Forces Nostalgia Weapon Pack [WOTC]" and [WOTC]Star Wars Rebel Alliance Weapon Pack have a wookie bowcaster.

Yeah, there's really no way to account for that as the Boltcasters don't really have their own category by default and are just 'rifle's. But yeah reskinning would work :)

Well, as long as they are the same item the bonus will apply. For example, if you're using Iridar's Alien Hunters Weapons Rebalance, that makes the Boltcaster port of the 'sniper rifle' category, the bonuses still apply.

yes there some mods which change the weapon category, so i wondered, but no problem, maybe i just reskin the vanilla boltcaster then with them, thx for the fast answer

@RambelZambel Yeah it specifically looks for the three vanilla boltcasters. I could open it up to config for any other modded bowcaster-like weapons but I didn't know of any so didn't think it necessary.

How is the boltcaster ability assigned? Specifically to the vanilla boltcaster weapon?

I... believe so? I'm not 100%sure on it, as I don't really mess with .upk files that often, but I'd assume that'd be enough yeah

I have one question though:

Lets say I want to pick one voice from pack 1 (almost 2GB the entire thing) to create a local mod that is smaller, Do I just need to copy the .upk file to a "content" folder + make a entry in a XcomContent.ini file and it would work or its necessary the use of the Mod Tools to do something?

I'm on linux and AFAIK, the DevTools can't be installed in it, so my only option to modding is to rely on config edits and similar stuff.

Besides, there is 2 wookie voices (Wookie + Chewbacca) in part 1 and 1 wookie (Wookie) in part 2... although the names are the same, the source doesn't seems to be, so aren't they different enough to be included as wookiee 1 and wookiee 2?

Yeah... now I see 2 voices listed ("Wookie" and "Chewbacca"), but when I click to preview, there is no sound... so, that summed with the file size being too small, I think my guess is correct, you didn't include the sound files into your mod.

Yup they are spawning with the voices on a clean modlist at least, it's possible that it conflicts with the original SW voice packs, but other than that not sure what could be going on...
Did you make sure the mod updated by right-clicking it through AML?

I mean you can still select human voices but they should generate with one of the two wookiee voices, they should be at the bottom of the list. At least they were when I tested it. I can triple check tho...

I started the game and checked my character pool and you still can select human voices for wookiees and what I expected was that only 3 wookiee voices were there. But the wookiee voices aren't there either.

Perhaps you uploaded the wrong version? x)

Did you forget to include the voice files? the mod should have increased in size to something around 10mb if my guess is correct.

By the way, it seems there is two more wookiee voice at the first pack
Star Wars: Voice Pack WOTC (1 of 2)
- Wookiee
- Chewbacca

You could pick those as well so all the wookiees don't end with the same voice.

@Ironmonk in that case I can probably just ship it with the Wookiee voicepack. I'll look into updating it, I want to add proper localized values as well to Bowcaster Expertise so I might take the excuse to upload a new version.

Anyone is allowed to use anything inside this mod as long as they give credit, and link to this page. You can use it in your mod or mod pack. Have fun and create!

So, you just need to give him credits and directly pick the voice from his mod and include in this one.

Is there a way to set a condition to detect if the "Star Wars: Voice Pack WOTC (2 of 2)" is installed and automatically select wookiee voice for all wookiee characters instead of other random voices?

@armbarchris damn I thought I had replied to this one, sorry. It's unlikely that I'll make it a class mod. Even within Allies Unknown I don't like the aliens that have custom classes, and only use the ones that play like regular soldiers with extra spice.

Well, if after you check his collection and decide to implement a couple of races from there, maybe you can convince him to port some more interesting models and make a collaborative mod (without the commission)

@Ironmonk +aim and +crit is an interesting idea I didn't think of, and you might be right on the hacking side, I'm not fully sure how I'd implement it, but I might replace the +1 damage with those bonuses if I can figure it out.

That's good to know. I'm not fully sure I'll ask for the comissions, as a broke college student, but maybe some day.

I just remembered... Asthye takes comissions to port models from fortinite (if you are willing to pay)... I did check the model list (at the link he provided) and there is plenty of star wars and other media models that could easily be made into AU races.

Yeah, I would have tried to make some a year ago when I did my last playthrough... but I switched completely to linux and it seems the DevTool doesn't work on linux... so I gave up any mod plans I had at the time.

On this particular mod, maybe you could:
- add +Aim or +Crit with boltcaster instead of +damage and maybe -Aim or -Crit with other weapons. (for better balance)
- add some Hack bonus since Wookies are really good at Tech
- Maybe reduce the Will bonus to 5?

@Ironmonk oh for sure, most of Cavily's mods are from before cooking assets was widely spread, and I can see why you'd avoid them. I can certainly check out Asthye's modlist and see if there's anything useful there.

But, despite the big filesize, I've made these last three especially because I've felt like they were begging to be made into AU aliens, since I'm not that fond of using non-human cosmetics on human soldiers myself.

I think your mods are good addition to the Allies Unknown family... but, the cosmetics source file are all too big, and to heavily modded games, the utilization of multiple new races will certainly cause performance issues. (I personally avoid most of the races with files size above 50mb)

The user/modder Asthye ported many skins from Fortnite in very small files sizes (most are 10~20mb)... it would be cool if you take a look at his profile to check his mod list, perhaps you can find some races that can be adapted to Allies Unknown in performance-oriented mods.
