Buzzerker, what mods do you use
Buzzerker 21 Oct, 2021 @ 5:38pm
This mod doesn't work but there are some that still do, I use about 5 of them all the time, every game I play. There is no normal level in this game, Vostok is the middle of the road level, actually it's one notch above that and all that difficulty levels do is make your AI opponents better than you. It gives them an edge in bonuses and I think it might give you penalties. It's not the greatest game but it's far from what Rayki is saying, this game has some really cool concepts, graphics aren't bad, tech tree isn't bad, combat is fun, units are cool, diplomacy is pretentious but it should be, it's about survival of the fittest on a hostile alien world after the fall of earth.
Buzzerker 21 Oct, 2021 @ 5:35pm
a quick comment on what Rayki's comment. This mod is trash, I don't know what the author even made it for because he indicates that if you want to use it for 'normal' multiplayer or singleplayer, then you have some hoops to jump through. Use RESHADE instead, it works and there are a handful of other mods that make this an excellent game. Rising Tide is awesome, Rayki didn't know what he was talking about, I play this game all the time, it's the best damn Sci Fi Civ game ever made, better than that ancient old mess that needs a serious new version the god-like legendary Alpha Centauri. I can't bring myself to play that game it's so damn old. The UI is like trying to figure out Egyptian hieroglyphics.
Rayki 14 Nov, 2020 @ 5:25pm
@Everyone Most mods for this game have been abandoned since 2014, they don't work properly because Firaxis essentially fucked the game up at a code level and it became a nightmare for modders. That was when Firaxis essentially abandoned the game, face with trying to fix the abortion that was Rising Tide they instead threw in the towel and left you all with a broken product.

This game will never run right on it's own, let alone with mods, I'd give up and get something else.

i got the dlc and the game, but each time i make a game or custom game i get error message saying it fail to install texture so i'm frusrtated the mod not works for me... for any visual mod it not works, fail to load textures ...
Doctor G 3 Oct, 2019 @ 1:16pm
if it does not work, then push the flag and report it as so
Ryan Gosling 22 Feb, 2018 @ 8:30pm
Why would you create and then release a mod that doesn't work?
mr_mellow3 14 Aug, 2017 @ 12:02pm
"To everyone who wants to play this mod in normal singleplayer and multiplayer - There is a way to make this possible by forcing C:BE to load loose asset files instead of FPK files. Unfortunately, i haven't figured out how to make that work yet. If you can help, leave a comment :)"

If you can't make it work in single player what was the point? Can't recommend this collection. Didn't work for me at all.
SeriousApache 26 May, 2017 @ 11:42am
Yeah, in BE one type of terrain can have many models, it is realy confusing (moreever if you play always with random map).
But thanks God we always have small window with information about current tile, which exists all time.
You will be missed in Civ 6

This mod is too old to work with Rising Tide, but another one called Biomes Redux may work
Brad Marchand 1 Jul, 2016 @ 5:46pm
I'm wondering, do your Visually Distinctive Terrains mods work with the linux version of Civ BE?
Coolbeano 8 Jan, 2016 @ 2:57pm
This mod may make me play this game again
Phayntom 24 Dec, 2015 @ 12:22am
can you update this for Rising Tide?
Witterquick EQ 12 Nov, 2015 @ 6:34pm
I love this mod but I'm getting some terrain textures just disappearing into black bars.
Crazysmuk 14 Oct, 2015 @ 11:43am
Ya.. i've noticed they are better. Although the fridgid one seems to be very hard to tell the land apart imo. The volcanic one is a bit better.
Cousken  [author] 14 Oct, 2015 @ 11:40am
@crazysmuk I'm still playing my first match in Rising Tide on the cold template, and i think i can make some improvement, although the new biomes are better than the original ones. New mods i make would be "higher contrast" rather than distinct :P
Crazysmuk 14 Oct, 2015 @ 8:17am
Do you have plans to make these for Rising Tide? I do hate having to look at the tooltip all the time to find out what i'm building on.
Frozen5 1 Feb, 2015 @ 5:14am
Civilization is goood game...
Vallornic 15 Jan, 2015 @ 10:45pm
If you actually take a closer look, TYRONE, he changed the colors of the trees and some terrain to make each biome look different.
JT 15 Jan, 2015 @ 4:35pm
wtf all you did was ZOOM IN :(
7R1P0D 1 Jan, 2015 @ 11:40pm
Is there a version with the original tree textures?
Red Earth 17 Dec, 2014 @ 9:03am
My one complaint from looking at the pictures is that this might be a bit too distinct, It's a problem with the concept of an arid tile set in that you can't have three different moisture levels of terrain but still have them all look arid and look different. Perhaps if the plains had a cracked earth look to it and the grassland was patchy, like it's just hanging on to life.

"When o' when Michaelangelo; when will you make a finish?" ...and add the lush biome?
curtmbriggs1505 17 Nov, 2014 @ 7:32pm
When will you add the Lush biome?
Monado 17 Nov, 2014 @ 11:59am
I look forward to seeing the third map type finished!
KnightOwlToo 10 Nov, 2014 @ 9:09pm
Cousken, you rock! I can now start a game without going into the advanced options and making sure that only "lush" maps are used... I had big problems telling terrains appart on desert and fungal maps and had given up playing them. Thanx much!!!
Jack 10 Nov, 2014 @ 7:05pm
This is too flourescent green imo.
Baleur 9 Nov, 2014 @ 7:07pm
Please please please add a direct download link for your wonderful mods, for some of us the workshop downloads simply wont start sometimes.
VaeliusNoctu 8 Nov, 2014 @ 3:24pm

@gunnergoz

Originaly by teinedraig, 10 hours ago:
@gunnergoz that is actually a known Civ big at this time and if you actually untick and retick the mod it will also fix the unit issue and leave the mod in :)
gunnergoz 7 Nov, 2014 @ 12:25pm
I find that this mod must conflict with others because whenever I load a save that originally incorporated this mod, I cannot see the unit window in the lower left screen - or it is corrupted. If I go back to the mod list, remove the mod and then reload the save, the unit window looks and acts normal and I can play the save.
Cousken  [author] 7 Nov, 2014 @ 7:57am
Next mod is out! Why not check out the whole collection?

@Moshu: You have to start/load your game via the "mods" button in the main menu. Then go on from there. You can enable/disable any mod from there (AFTER you subscribed them of course)
