This ship is a goddamn monster! Never fought the Legacy before, yet I managed to rip and tear into an infector like noones business.... the ship was barely scratched (though the repair price suggests something else). Then was able to take on an Imerat without barely a scratch... 2 ships and I had enoough resources to take this to a core 9 with 2 quantums to spare and a solid start of resources... Would suggest you guys switch out miniguns for ligth lasers x4 asap, not as good against drones, but is an immense help vs shields at the beginning... INSANE job on the ship Artemis... a real beast for its cost

Hey Artemis, you have so many good Ships, but i dont know where to start. Im advanced Player in overall RE2 Experience, but not so good in Combat, specially in CV vs CV Combat. I have defeated small and medium Zirax-Ships as well as small Drone-Ships (never fighted any Legacy). I usually go for Thrusters or Generators (its may be easier to shoot out Turrets, but i want their Loot), im not a pro Player who knows every Core Location for fast kills.

So with which Ship should i start? It should be max Core 9 (get some Quantum Processors from Abandoned POIs) and should be upgradeable. In the end it should handle Drone and Legacy the same. And should don't need Core Position Knowledge.

Or do i have unrealistic wishes?

Thanks for another great ship, can I ask for some advice on how best to place the reactor and where to install the quantum and drone cores? I have now installed a small reactor and in the same room I have placed the drone cores, separating them with a xenosteel wall, but this does not seem to be a reliable solution.
I also found that I do not have enough mounting places for installing turrets, I would like to install at least 8 + 16 + 6 turrets.

I have half a dozen ships already that will kill Drone Nurseries, T-Hammer. The Hero V2, The Arcadian, The Sovereign, The Ballantide, The Halcyon now... any of them will kill a nursery. I have youtube footage of me doing it with The Hero V2 a few months ago. The Nursery fight is more about tactics and weapon choice, than needing a particular ship to beat it, there are multiple ways to kill it solo, and you can PM me on discord if you'd like some help/tips. im waiting to see your drone ship for nurseries.

Fair enough - but let's say I'm using this against Zirax Frigates + Corvettes (which is where I'm at in the game progression) - are those plasma guns that critical? Keep in mind I'm sure plenty of us are nowhere near taking on legacy ships yet - I just started my first RE2 play-through a day or two ago. So while I can see that when taking on those tough end-game ships plasma is the way to go (makes sense) I'm talking early/mid-game here.
ArtemisRouge  [author] 18 Oct, 2024 @ 12:43pm
The closest thing to Plasma, are manual Cannons, you can try them, but I think you will end up using even more ammo and you wont like them. They dont go through hull as fast, they dont have as large a radius, and when your manuals are your primary anti-shield weapon, you will be disappointed by their anti-shield performance as well.
ArtemisRouge  [author] 18 Oct, 2024 @ 12:37pm
Nothing. No other Light weapon performs as well, I dont consider any of them an acceptable alternative. Cannons r garbage with heavy ammo and their shield damage is sub-par, lasers and railguns have no radius and so cannot be relied upon for coring a moving target, missiles are heavy and inaccurate due to their slow projectile speed/homing effect. 2000-3000 plasma rounds is a small price to pay for taking down quantum-bearing ships. You can save on ammo when you move to a larger ship with Triple-Heavy manuals. Learning a play-style and progression that gives you the resources you need is part of the game. It's why I set my first base in a tight and plentiful star cluster, smaller jump distances, and you should always hit a Pent asteroid when you find one, because trying to find them after the fact with their limited detection range is a PITA.

Nice, I ended up going for the Halcyon. In terms of weapons, lets say I'm erestrum + pentaxid poor, and therefore would like whatever guns are "second-best". What would you suggest in lieu of plasma cannons? Ideally something with ammo that is easier to craft/source.

Most new ships I make are typically better than what has come before it. I learn things with every build and every round of testing, but every new ship is not necessarily better for all encounters or intended to replace previous ships. My best airframe to fight Tovera dreadnoughts right now, at the lowest CPU levels, for example, is a blueprint that's almost a year old now. But the Tovera fight is not the most lucrative fight, nor is it an easy fight, in fact you can get quantum processors 10x faster fighting other ships... So, I try to keep my focus where the players focus is, I build what I feel people need, for the content I believe they should/will be encountering most often. The Halcyon is exceptional as a Core7 against Legacy ships, and that is what people are fighting with Core7's, it has a great upgrade path all the way to end-game, too. It isnt the best at everything, but it's the best I have right now against Legacy at the Core7 level, without complicated part requirements.
ArtemisRouge  [author] 17 Oct, 2024 @ 8:38pm
@ramzay This ship is an excellent alternative to any of my other Core7 airframes, it adds the option of a really large hangar, and especially strong frontal armor, with no xeno requirement. It's more legacy focused than some other ships, because legacy are particularly lucrative fights. It focuses on Light weapons, to keep part requirements simple. This is an especially forgiving ship, it can take it to the face for extended amounts of time even without a shield. The difference between this and Honeybadger is this will take a lot of un-shielded damage to the face and the honeybadger wont, but this ship is 8-9 targettable blocks tall and The Honeybadger is just 4 targettable blocks tall. If you know how to use something that is only 4 targettable blocks tall, the benefits of that can outweigh even the heaviest armor, if you dont know how use a ship like that, something like The Halcyon is a good fit to steamroll the encounter with sheer heft and good armor design.
Ramzay 17 Oct, 2024 @ 6:48pm
Nice - which of your other awesome ships would you say this "replaces"? I'm currently working on making the HoneyBadger, with the Sovereign as my end-game objective.

Rich miner with teeth and backbone?

Aaa, forget it, I can't read=) it's all written anyway.

Wow, nice looking ship, I see on screen xeno but in blueprint fullhanded steel, Does this mean we have to wait for version X?
