I'm also curious before I try this. If I do Rogue planet, will it reflect on the world map, and when traveling with the gravship or caravans? Would be interesting to have some pressure to escape the planet and/or get self sufficient on the grav ship.

I also wonder if biomes change as they get colder/hotter

@Darian Stephens Thanks for clarifying! Any idea about my other questions? Especially curious if the temperature will ever reach a minimum, or if it will go forever?
Darian Stephens 22 Jun @ 6:15pm
@Andreas
SoS2, in the newer version at least, don't allow you to just go straight to other planets.
Instead, it lets you save your ship and crew to be loaded in a new scenario, which is where you can change all the settings and mods and stuff for a new experience.

1. Is Rogue Planet mechanically speaking just a more severe version of Ice Age? Or is Rogue Planet gradual while Ice Age is more like an on/off switch?
2. Will the temperature eventually cap out when reaching absolute zero?Or does it go into non-physical temperatures?
3. Do these events follow you if you use something like SoS2 to move to a different planet? Or will the game switch off something like Rogue Planet if you literally go to another planet?
4. Will biomes and the world map change in response to the new temperatures?

Either way, this is one of my favorite mods, thanks for updating!

How subtile is exactly fading of light and lowering of temperature? I added permanent game condition "rogue planet" constructing my playthrough but seems like something wrong - my solar panels don't decrease in power, temperature don't go lower. Maybe I've done something wrong and condition must be added by different means? 1.5 rim with all dlcs

If the sun gets smaller every year in the Rogue Planet scenario on the global map, it will be mega cool. is this feasible in principle?

Yep, it'll definitely add some urgency and a time limit.
wydscum 23 Oct, 2024 @ 2:56am
@darian stephens I was thinking the same! escape the planet type playthroughs are perfect w thiss
Darian Stephens 23 Oct, 2024 @ 2:30am
I could see myself doing a Rogue Planet playthrough with Save Our Ship 2, the goal being to flee the star system, with a shorter-term goal being to get in to orbit where the ship's systems can keep us safe, and trying to scavenge and trade and build up the ship to finally get out for good.

I'm currently running an Ice Age save; it's permanent winter - very harsh but survivable. It's into the -100s(F) in the far north. I believe it will only get worse to a certain point. With a Rogue Planet, you will eventually not be able to survive as the temperatures will drop too low.
Hapcube 22 Oct, 2024 @ 3:21pm
What's the difference between Rogue Planet and Ice Age?
HIM🐀 21 Oct, 2024 @ 4:07am
