btw will this mod work in DS/torch server with V+? cannot test it because i don't have a server
yes it is compatible, WC is not a must-have for this, but there's differences between framework themselves so you won't get the same experience when using it on different frameworks
also 100% of problems you have can be solved by simply placing more reactors on your ship
So I reasonably assumed I didn't need WeaponCore.
It's very likely that you don't have enough power on your grid. V+ weapons will stop working and not consume any power when the power output isn't met their requirements
also actually this weapon is designed for WeaponCore, not V+ (i.e. the ion cannon's firing power adjustment is based on WeaponCore's RPM adjustment slider, which V+ don't have. But still you can manually adjust the firing power by directly control the turret). Compatibility between different frameworks is very complicated and can become unstable sometimes
eg: The ion cannon does nothing. It's fully charged, but the control button is disabled so I can't control it manually. It ignores hostile grids directly in front of it, even when I target them. Your description says there is a choice of different shot types, but in the control panel there are no such options. There is only an ammo type with a single "Energy Charge" type.
I have difficulty believing that it works for you and not me when it's the same game installation without any kind of plugins.

capacitors will deplete it's energy over time, slightly faster than a single emitter's energy output(and also the conversion to stored energy is not 100%), for a single emitter the reflector block is a better option
use laser capacitors, they can work as beam combiner
(i think the 5th screenshot is obvious enough)
and i know, i just love the look and vibe of that ship
put the laser block 1 block away from the turret(and other laser blocks), they have a very short "safe distance" that will pass through everything within this distance without damaging them
