Windows break so quickly in vanilla so unless you mean for boarded windows and doors then yeah I will do that if I come back to zomboid :)

If this is going to stay unlisted, can you make thumping zombies having the chance to lose interest its own mod? And can you add a choice for a minimum time and maximum time before they can lose interest?

i think even in older builds they couldnt do that haha, maybe you were using a mod? but yeah i can look into adding an option soon ive been wanting to try zombies opening windows also

sorry if this seems like a mess, in short: Yeah, it would be great if you could add a sandbox settings to have infected open unlocked windows?

They might have outright removed high cog + open doors zombies from being able to open windows in b42.

If they removed this feature for whatever reason, adding a chance for them to open the window in the config would be super helpful, if you have the time!

@☁ Zombies with the ability to open doors can open windows, im just asking if the mod would interfere with them being able to open windows, since I havent seen them be able to open them anymore since b42 came out

With the update I just put out they will not be able to open the window, I don't think that is even a vanilla thing right? They can still open doors if you set their cognition to that. Or are you suggesting to add a chance they open the window instead of smash it?

@☁ Can infected that can open doors and windows still open windows with this mod turned on? I want infected to be able to open windows, but not smash through them.

@aves, yeah I believe if the zombie is too far from the player it doesnt work correctly, i noticed they do a lot more damage to doors the further away you are from them and for windows idk how it behaves so i could make them just stop thumping at a certain distance as a quick fix but also the recent patch may have broken something so i need to look later :D

This mod is broken due to a patch.
The doors were still secured, but the windows came crashing down like cakes.

This mod works great, but it seems that zombies can still break windows and even doors if given enough persistence. Dont know if anything can be done to make them truly unbreakable. I know there was one mod that made them unbreakable with the caveat that windows couldnt be opened or broken by the player, but that mod hasnt been updated.

Is there anything that can be done?

Subscribed purely because of the idea of zombies eventually giving up on banging on doors. It was so easy to get zombies to just...get stuck thumping on doors forever to cheese hordes.

PLEASE, can you add more options?

eg:

Allow brake windows true/false (standard = true)
Allow brake unlocked doors
Allow brake locked doors
Allow brake wood barricade
Allow brake pipe barricade
Allow brake steel barricade

chance to brake windows true/false (standard = true)
chance to brake unlocked doors
chance to brake locked doors
chance to brake wood barricade
chance to brake pipe barricade
chance to brake steel barricade
or
damage multiplier for windows 0.00 - 1.00 (standard = 1.00)
damage multiplier for unlocked doors
damage multiplier for locked doors

I know this is basically a cheat already, as it works outside of sandbox mode, but adding this and "Barricades, Doors, Windows, and Vehicles Hurt Zombies [B42]" together makes the game extremely easy...

Group of zombies? Hide behind close-able barrier and wait...

Not sure if this is intended behavior - outside of sandbox, I mean, since options cannot be changed in a non-sandbox game.
Also, not complaining, since I haven't played in a long time and it's nice to get my barrings with the mods I've installed before going into the deep end...

Would it be possible to make it so zombies have a chance to deal damage to doors per thump, instead of not damaging them at all ? Because when you spawn in a jail cell you have no chance of getting out if you don't have the key, and seeing a large group unable to break down a door for hours is a bit too much. Maybe just add this as an unchecked sandbox option.

is it still doing it now after the update I just put out? I haven't been testing on servers and I'm on B42 now so it's a little harder to test but I think it should be fixed

Since this mornings update I am now getting errors on my server console. Not sure if it is a mod incompatibility because of the changes or if it was the changes itself. Thought I would share. The server still launches and seems fine. I had zombies hitting a base game and build menu door and window and nothing broke.

If anyone else is having the issue where zombies are still breaking wooden barricades on windows, add this line in the UnbreakableDoorsWindows.lua file, line ~77, for a (bit silly, but works) workaround:

thumpTarget:addBarricadesDebug(1, false)

Every time a zombie hits the window, the game will attempt to add a new wooden barricade, if able. This makes it impossible for zombies to ever break through.

For anyone looking for a new way to play through PZ, get an unbreakable doors and windows mod, a mod that spawns you on the mall helipad, have zombies be shamblers, and crank up zombie populations to max. For bonus fun, have randomized characters.

Its basically a Dead Rising run. Its incredibly fun to try and lead zombies out of the mall instead of the traditional way of killing them all.

This is really cool, well done!
But I was wondering when or if you could add a feature that prevents windows/doors from breaking unless a certain amount of zombies are thumping against it. For now only 1 zombie is enough to break the window by default and while I want stronger windows I don't want them unbreakable from an entire horde.

Great mod, really appreciated. I just wanted to inform you about a bug that I found. If you change the sandbox default values of the three local variables you set in line 35 to 37 (file UnbreakableDoorsWindows.lua). These changes gets reset once you restart your game. A possible solution would be to initialize the values every time at game start with the Lua Function "Events.OnGameStart.Add".

It's in 42. If nothing else, I love the feature that zombies give up "thumping" after a while if they don't see/hear the player. Even if I end up disabling the indestructible barricades, which was the entire reason I got this mod. Maxing the player construction health setting and having weak zombies does a good enough job.

My biggest request would be to make them give up thumping doors as well.

Is that in 41 or 42, if 42 maybe they changed something with the barricade or another mod conflicting but I'm not currently updating mods so I'll look at it later thanks for reporting though @Varlun

Is there a way to set metal doors as indestructible but keep wooden doors breakable?

There's a bug with this mod. Zombies can still break the barricade, but after it's destroyed it's still considered barricaded. In my case a door. Zombies can't go through, but you also can't unbarricade it. Basically turned the door into a wall.

finally, i love the idea of exploring and finding keys to unlock doors and picking the locks, but then it's ruined by zombies just breaking all the doors before i even see them.

Your mod is great, it's a game changer !

I guess it's quite a challenge to add an option such "Door have chance to be open by zed when detect a player : X %"

1% is the 1% that can mess up an exploration. :deadrat:

This is great because the vanilla option in sandbox to make player constructions invulnerable to zombies doesn't work with barricades for some reason and this will fix it!
