Great mod. Currently playing as one of the Roman factions and the challenge of the other Roman factions plus barbarian horde factions on the borders feels very high-stakes. Love it!

Great mod! Loving the different factions and the map. However, by the time I can gather a full stack, I already get blasted by multiple full stacks of my neighbours. Is there something I'm doing wrong?
mshoaf89 20 Jul @ 3:44pm
Chris P Bacon if you change the city name you can then use the Process_cq just fine that way, or at least you should be able to do so that way.
Schnell_Scheisse 4 Jul @ 12:44pm
Would it be possible to have some kind of script of feature that if you conquer enough of the other Roman factions cities you can annex them/ they join your faction?
miro23 27 Apr @ 6:13am
HI nice but keep crash of freze cant play 25 turn sorry
Norgath 27 Mar @ 7:21pm
Hey is your work related to Invasio Barbarorum family of mods?
Eagles 25 Mar @ 6:06pm
good mod, the only bad thing for me is the vanilla map
Andreas Mathetes  [author] 23 Mar @ 1:49pm
@Z&K, if you have the original Rome Total War there is a vanilla-style version I already released. I have not ported that version to Remastered but I may in the future after finishing another mod project I am working on right now.
Andreas Mathetes  [author] 23 Mar @ 1:48pm
@Chris P. Bacon sorry for this issue, maybe try Bracara? I can't remember exactly.
Andreas Mathetes  [author] 23 Mar @ 1:47pm
@ProbusVerus I thought of doing something like that but I wanted the Romans to be on more equal footing for the Civil War scenario by having the same units, and since the guard was already falling out of use well before this I decided not to put a unit in. As you said, it would only make sense for Maxentius, and there is a chance I may eventually add it later.
Z&K 21 Mar @ 8:43pm
Could you release a version that uses vanilla units and original unit cards for barbarian invasion?
Chris P. Bacon 13 Mar @ 2:56pm
Hello there! Loving the mod! I have a campaign where I am playing legit but I also have one where I am chilling, conquering, and using cheats. When using the process_cq cheat, I notice that some of the settlements use the new names you gave while others use the original RTWBI names. However, I cannot figure out what the command for Bracara Augusta city in north west Spain is. I've tried everything I can think of. Any idea of what name would work for process_cq? Thanks!
ProbusVerus 8 Mar @ 10:35am
Hi are you planning to have some unit variety between the Roman factions? You could give the Praetorians to Maxentius and take away the scholae palatinae or something like that just adding a little bit of variety. Great mod overall!
VersionZero 25 Feb @ 4:06pm
best mod on the workshop
SzczypiorTHC 24 Feb @ 10:01am
sadly mod crashing all the time for me
Zef 12 Feb @ 4:26am
Great mod, i love how compared to RTR it's more focused in it's approach, keeping the same mapn while focusing on improvements.

My only pet peeve though:

- textures/models: when coming from RTR playing greek factions, these look .. yeah.. outdated is one way of describing it.. but hey most of the time you're not really zoomed into battles that close anyways
khider.yassine 7 Feb @ 2:51pm
Hello, I have a problem launching the MOD. It shows me this, what should I do please? THANKS
error with melkor factions etc
JuulUp 3 Feb @ 1:50pm
you can capture all the major roman cities with Constantine but you have to do it asap and have captains(other fam members) conquer the far out locations. the campaign was pretty easy after 2 more challenging starting fights pushing Rome. biggest issue i had w playthru was unit variety. excited to see your work tho, very good mod
Zealot 21 Jan @ 3:44pm
Capturing Biggus Dickus was the highlight of my playthrough.

Hello Bombei12, I personally do not have this error and I'm not sure it has been reported by other users before. Try redownloading again, perhaps there was a file corruption. If this doesn't work, use this link and follow the instructions: https://www.moddb.com/mods/tetrarchy-a-new-beginning-311-ad/downloads/tetrarchy-a-new-beginning-remastered . If none of this works notify me again.
Andreas Mathetes  [author] 12 Jan @ 10:51am
@希拉克略帝 I only work on my mods whenever I feel like doing so, and as a result it is not too stressful for me. Thank you for your concern.

Hello, I have this problem when starting the game.
Error in descr file Q:

希拉克略帝 5 Jan @ 6:02pm
@Andreas Mathetes What I mean is, can you handle two mods at the same time by yourself? You have other things in your life. This MOD requires your maintenance and. So that's what I mean. Making mods is not easy.
Andreas Mathetes  [author] 5 Jan @ 5:11pm
@希拉克略帝 the new mod I am making is called Optimus Princeps and it will start in 1AD using the Mundus Magnus map, which extends all the way to India. I am making it for the original game first and will then be porting it to the Remaster. I am not quite sure what you mean by impatient, what was it you meant?
希拉克略帝 26 Dec, 2024 @ 6:03pm
@Andreas Mathetes I'm glad to hear that you made a MOD. If possible, can I know the background, era, and so on? Also, will you be impatient when making a new MOD? Are you busy enough.
SonOfThunderY2K 26 Dec, 2024 @ 5:17pm
All good, I appreciate the work you did for this mod. It's only a minor thing for me. This is one of my favorite periods in Roman history and I've been spending the past few days enjoying this mod.

Looking forward to seeing how you tackle it in future updates.
Andreas Mathetes  [author] 26 Dec, 2024 @ 2:34pm
Hello SonOfThunderY2K, you are actually right about the campaign moving too fast since Constantine managed to conquer all of Rome very quickly which is probably not possible with the 2 turns per year setup. My initial aversion to making it 4 or 8 turns per year was that the map and campaign might not be focused enough to justify such a long timescale. This may change in the future, however.
Andreas Mathetes  [author] 26 Dec, 2024 @ 2:32pm
Thank you 希拉克略帝 for your very insightful posts! I am actually working on another new mod of mine right now, so until that one is finished I am not going to be doing any work on Tetrarchy. Once it is done perhaps I will do as you said and make a post asking about changes people want to see, as it is a good idea.
SonOfThunderY2K 25 Dec, 2024 @ 5:40pm
Any chance for 8 turns per year or 12 turns per year? I feel like the "important characters" like Constantine die a little too soon before the empire unites like it did historically. Still enjoying the mod and probably my favorite for RTW.
希拉克略帝 21 Dec, 2024 @ 4:18pm
Personally, I believe that we should not feel proud and complacent about everything we currently have. Although these words are the words of my family.
希拉克略帝 21 Dec, 2024 @ 4:17pm
@Andreas Mathetes I currently have a suggestion, I think you should post a post. Inquire about everyone's opinions and suggestions, and brainstorm. Think about it, if the producer of this MOD is only you or two people and you can't keep up, why don't you ask for everyone's opinions and suggestions? More importantly, you are also very busy in your life, aren't you? So my personal suggestion is that you should post a post and see what everyone's suggestions are. What is useful and what can be used. This will be helpful for updating your MOD and for you.
希拉克略帝 21 Dec, 2024 @ 4:13pm
I think it's just about the four emperors ruling together. Four emperors of the Roman Empire. Their military branches and everything are the same, there is not much difference. In terms of the history of the Roman Empire, the period of co governance by the four emperors was a remarkable and charming era. I certainly hope this MOD will get better and better.
希拉克略帝 21 Dec, 2024 @ 4:11pm
The era of the Four Emperors ruling together is very interesting, and I have no dissatisfaction with it. I just want to say that this MOD is not yet very complete, especially in terms of troops. Of course, it will get better and better with the passage of time and updates in the future. Just not now, and I really appreciate you bringing me such an interesting MOD. But at this stage.
Andreas Mathetes  [author] 21 Dec, 2024 @ 3:45pm
Hello 希拉克略帝! I am glad you are enjoying this mod so far. If you want to play a mod about emperor Aurelian, please try Rome II's Empire Divided DLC, or download Imperial Crisis, a mod for RTW BI which concerns the Crisis of the Third Century. I got my units from Imperial Crisis. If you feel like you need to polish the mod or change it, please feel free to do so and upload it to Steam if you want!
希拉克略帝 20 Dec, 2024 @ 12:39am
When I see the MOD of Four Emperors Co ruling, sometimes I also think about it. Since there will always be a co governance of the four emperors, why isn't there a crisis in the third century like playing Emperor Aurelian. Laugh. Of course, I have indeed thought about it that way. Maybe someone will do it in the future.
希拉克略帝 20 Dec, 2024 @ 12:36am
@Andreas Mathetes Author friend, I need to introduce myself first. I am a Chinese player from Chinese Mainland. I don't understand English, so I'm using domestic translation websites. I want to say that I am very grateful to you for bringing me such an interesting MOD. Thank you very much for what you have done. However, this MOD also has many issues. For example, there are too few types of troops or some aspects are too rough. Although the four emperors ruled together, the historical background of the reign of Emperor Constantine is very attractive. I also know that this is a MOD that has been around for a long time. But I think the current situation of MOD is not enough to support that exciting era. I feel like I still need to polish it. Lastly, this is the first time I have played a MOD from the Four Emperors' Co rule period in the long history of playing Total War in Rome. thank you.
Andreas Mathetes  [author] 11 Dec, 2024 @ 5:33pm
I think I know what you mean, probably the Gothic Warriors. I am not sure why this is the case because they don't appear that way in the vanilla version, and it doesn't have anything to do with the texture. I am not sure how to fix this yet.
Eisen 11 Dec, 2024 @ 10:14am
There is a unit for the goths that appear to have a graphical glitch. I don't know if this is intentional, but their faces have a blackening effect. Its the sword infantry that I am referring to.
Andreas Mathetes  [author] 10 Dec, 2024 @ 6:25pm
Thanks Crimson Duke! I agree, there is a deficiency in Early Rome mods out there. Peninsula Italica for RTW is a good mod if you want to play the Samnites, and perhaps you might even consider a game like Hegemony III if you love the Early Italy setting.
Crimson Duke 8 Dec, 2024 @ 5:32pm
Yeah I know, thought as much too, although part of me wanted to believe.
Since unfortunately there aren't many ways to play Italic civs, outside Rome, in most total wars and strategy games in general, a shame.
Thanks for the swift response tho!
Love the mod
Andreas Mathetes  [author] 7 Dec, 2024 @ 8:58pm
The Samnites were not a distinct people group at this time, and ceased to exist as a politically important body after the Roman Social War in the 1st century BC. As such it would not make much sense historically to add them into the game, unfortunately.
Crimson Duke 4 Dec, 2024 @ 4:10am
Any plans for Samnites?
Andreas Mathetes  [author] 30 Nov, 2024 @ 10:46am
Thanks sfricke, I definitely think that the music adds a more culturally immersive element to the game, even though the empire is beginning to crumble it makes the atmosphere more calm. I extended recruitment time for Roman units to reflect their professionalism as well as the fact that it was becoming more difficult to recruit new legions.
sfricke 30 Nov, 2024 @ 6:54am
Just started Constantine campaign. Definitely an awesome period of history to start in. I like the added challenge of units taking longer to recruit. Outstanding work on it and look forward to playing it more! Mixture of background music is a good touch as well.
Andreas Mathetes  [author] 29 Nov, 2024 @ 1:24pm
Thank you so much for your feedback Gegejames. I think the amount of armies probably has to do with the fact that I lowered the upkeep of some units for the AI to help them put together armies more effectively, and since they managed to create sizable empires their economy is strong enough to make a lot of stacks which is what you saw. The problem with the AI not doing anything with those armies is unfortunately beyond me as of now, it was a problem in vanilla RTW as well.
Andreas Mathetes  [author] 24 Nov, 2024 @ 12:41pm
It was a great AI only campaign.
GAMER01 23 Nov, 2024 @ 4:45pm
this is my next mod to play,I'm looking forward to it after seeing Melkor give it a a spin:Attacker:
Andreas Mathetes  [author] 23 Nov, 2024 @ 12:02pm
Thank you so much. Cool to see someone who plays as Maximinus! Underrated emperor for sure.
tzartzarevich777 23 Nov, 2024 @ 12:45am
I love this mod, playing as Galerius and it feels good. Thank you making this port.
ConqueringHero 22 Nov, 2024 @ 11:15am
Here after seeing Melkor's AI only of this mod
