Sleeping Officer Follower Fix

I have the same issue too
DarkRaven  [author] 11 Apr @ 3:12am
@Tofof I've been unable to reproduce that issue with the "Career Campaign Character Progression". My tests have officers that are forced to sleep have their assistants removed, and when the sleep is cancelled they have their assistants returns, both with random sailors and specifically assigned sailors.

I have noticed an unrelated (to either mod) and possibly vanilla bug, where if you have sailors assigned to squads and assign a specific sailor to any squad, all squads have 1 sailor removed.

@Tofof I'd have to look at that particular mod to figure out if there are any interactions before I can really comment. Though it is kinda weird, since this mod is super simple since I refactored it as it removes sailors when someone starts the sleep action and reassigns then when they stop. Maybe it's running the removal too many times? I'll look into it when I get the chance.

So, this mod was definitely working a week ago for me, and was a really nice QoL addition. However, I started a new career to make use of the "Career Campaign Character Progression" mod and now this mod is partially broken - it unassigns on sleep, but never returns assignments when the officers wake / go back on duty. Career Progression does fiddle with the slots, giving only 1 to engineers, so it's plausible that's the cause of breakage? In my (broken) setup Career Progression is at the bottom of my mod list, so loads last, so could be overwriting stuff from here. To be clear, in both cases I have assigned specific crewmen to my officers.
DarkRaven  [author] 5 Apr @ 8:35am
@Bane The same way you would in vanilla, by going to crew > squads and assigning sailors to the officers.
Bane882266 5 Apr @ 7:50am
I have two chief engineers and two radio officers. I always want 2 crew assisting whichever chief engineer is on duty and one crew assisting whichever radio officer is on duty. Is there a way to set up the mod so the officer calls back crew went on duty?
DarkRaven  [author] 4 Apr @ 2:37pm
Mod is not broken and is working as intended. Per the description, "It also returns them based on the scheduled sailors...". If you have 0 sailors scheduled to the officer, it will return 0 of them.
George 4 Apr @ 1:20pm
same here, mod is broken
Bane882266 4 Apr @ 7:45am
One second I think I'm missing something. Do you have to enable this mode in game and not just at the launcher? Every time an officer goes on break they release the two crew with them but don't call them back when they wake up so now all of my crew are unassigned and every time I reassign them it's just cleared the next time they go to bed and wake back up.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank...YOU!

This non-feature was maddening to me!
DarkRaven  [author] 3 Apr @ 1:50pm
@Bane As of the last forum post regarding this functionality, the devs prefer not to have it.
Bane882266 3 Apr @ 4:13am
Why is this not base game yet?
TangoHotelCharlie 19 Mar @ 6:02am
Thank you for your awesome mod :honor:
Emilio 12 Mar @ 12:03pm
thank you buddy we really appreciate the effort and time you put into the mods you make. Cheers!
DarkRaven  [author] 12 Mar @ 2:49am
@Emilio Sorry for the late reply, that is not intended behavior and I'll be pushing a fix. Thanks for the heads-up!
Emilio 10 Mar @ 3:32pm
FYI for some reason if you have 2 sailors assigned to an officer and you send him to rest only one sailor is removed from duty and not both, is this intended? or is there a way to select it so to speak?
Sir Digby 3 Mar @ 2:06pm
@DarkRaven Good to hear, thanks for giving up your little free time for us armchair Kaleuns ;-P
DarkRaven  [author] 3 Mar @ 12:05am
@Sir Digby Hey, work kicked my butt the last few days, but I pushed out an update. It -should- fix all existing issues. I hope. >.>
LAntorcha 28 Feb @ 6:14pm
In the current version, this mod works as intended, but makes conflict with the portrait orders. You have to puch TAB and order from there, otherwise the order does not function.
Sir Digby 27 Feb @ 7:53am
@DarkRaven Ok thanks for the quick response. Will look out for update. Not a huge issue tbf but thought I'd raise it. Cheers.
DarkRaven  [author] 27 Feb @ 1:19am
@Sir Digby That is not intended, but was also not tested for. If given the order through the Tab menu, it will behave properly as well as just canceling sleep order. Also, I noticed a bug with the portrait sleep order. I'll try to have a fix for those ASAP.
Sir Digby 26 Feb @ 8:24pm
When I force my radio man with direct order to bed he drops his helper as he should but if I then force him back onto the radio/sonar from bed I have to manually add the helper back. Is this by design or do they only come back if it's a scheduled return from bed?
DarkRaven  [author] 24 Feb @ 10:40pm
@houghs Why? It's working as intended AFAIK.
houghs 24 Feb @ 6:50am
Please update
DarkRaven  [author] 27 Jan @ 9:48pm
@W0mbat That is not the purpose of this mod.
W0mbat 27 Jan @ 9:46pm
Is it my understanding that this mod only has subordinates to work only when assigned to their relative officers. If that is the case then it dont work as I see them working different shifts with other officers or on their own.
JAKeller 26 Jan @ 5:58pm
The one thing I'm concerned about (thus far doesn't seem to be an issue) is the warning that the mod might cause unpredictable results with the graphics support DLCs
SergeiOneShot 26 Jan @ 3:58pm
Thank you for your reply. I am currently in the middle of a convoy off the English coast, Admiral! So I will do the tests a little later. For information, I use the icon next to the portraits. I will change the method for sleeping and also test the automatic shift changes. I will keep you informed.
DarkRaven  [author] 26 Jan @ 3:34pm
@SergeiOneShot That's weird. I've come across a similar issue once when testing, so the only thing I can suggest is that you try making them sleep via another method.
For example, if you were making them sleep via the button next to the portrait, either use the tab menu sleep command or when the officer is selected, there is a menu on the bottom left, use the sleep command there.
Toggle it a few times and if it doesn't help, I don't know what's causing your issue, sorry.
SergeiOneShot 26 Jan @ 3:16pm
I cleared the cache file, unsubscribed and then subscribed, but the mod still doesn't work for me! The sailors remain at the officer's service when he sleeps. The boxes are grayed out and the sailors are not available for other tasks.
JAKeller 26 Jan @ 9:04am
This has been extremely useful. I like using a mechanic (with an assigned sailor) as an 'extra' to manage torps and various mundane tasks on the boat. What was always annoying was that the schedule assigned the sailor whenever he had duties to perform, but I always had to manually take the assigned sailor back off whenever he'd stop in between. This mod solved that.

Overall, makes schedule management just a bit easier.
DarkRaven  [author] 25 Jan @ 11:43pm
@Mikhail_Filitov My enduring hope is that the devs will render most, if not all, of my mods obsolete, especially those focused on fixes.
Mikhail_Filitov 25 Jan @ 11:41pm
Great mod. Hopefully the devs will add this in in the future.

They have a good track record of adopting good ideas that mods use.
DarkRaven  [author] 25 Jan @ 10:10pm
@SergeiOneShot Can confirm the mod works as intended as far as I can tell. What part isn't working for you?
DarkRaven  [author] 25 Jan @ 5:20pm
@SergeiOneShot Sorry about that. I'll check it out in a few hours.
SergeiOneShot 25 Jan @ 4:05pm
the mod doesn't work for me
George 27 Dec, 2024 @ 8:22am
works great thx <3
Gudilla 24 Dec, 2024 @ 9:31am
It's an annoying thing, because you always have to remove a sailor from service. Where does this come from, from the old prussian tradition?
grei209ks 22 Dec, 2024 @ 9:35am
Thank you very much. This is a really necessary mod for what seems to be an already natural event.
Do you plan to do any more modding regarding realistic actions and ways of duty for private sailors?
pardon my textbook English.
Artemis 5 Dec, 2024 @ 3:09am
nice
DarkRaven  [author] 4 Dec, 2024 @ 10:35am
No problem! This mod, like most, should work even if it's labeled 'outdated' barring a large or very specific developer update.
Person of Interest 4 Dec, 2024 @ 9:20am
Thx for the update!
Finess 4 Dec, 2024 @ 4:58am
Many thanks! It was really annoying. ✌️
DarkRaven  [author] 29 Nov, 2024 @ 3:44pm
It's annoying to do that every time an officer's shift changes, which is why I made this mod.
D-8521 {Scp sl crack adict} 29 Nov, 2024 @ 5:52am
btw u can unequip their crew when their sleeping by jsut hovering over the bar and clicking
DarkRaven  [author] 24 Nov, 2024 @ 9:08am
No problem, glad you enjoy! 🙂
SimerPhil 24 Nov, 2024 @ 3:13am
@DarkRaven, wow that's fast you're awesome men Thanks for all the hard work your putting out for us !
Kaleu 24 Nov, 2024 @ 1:45am
Dankeschön
DarkRaven  [author] 24 Nov, 2024 @ 1:41am
@SimerPhil Patched the mod to work with the TAB menu. Thanks for the heads up. =)
DarkRaven  [author] 23 Nov, 2024 @ 1:55pm
@SimerPhil Ah, that's a good catch, thank you. I forgot about the tab menu and it's currently only hooked to that button. I'll take a look at it later.
