On the first topic, you could try changing the order that the mod loads, that could help with compatibility, you can change them on the game's properties

On the second topic, you could convert the N64 controllers input into a Xbox360 controller or something like that, there's probably a way to do that, here's a post on reddit

ok, so i dont know if you care, but this doesnt play nice with the autobattler mod. IDK why, but im assuming its because the autobattle mod AI uses the default controls, and so ends up referencing/modifying the same keybind config yours does. Havent looked at the files (dont even know if i am ABLE to, tbh), so i dont know if this will be a quick fix or something more in depth and not worth the effort.

However, if you get them to work, it turns Brotato into a team-based idle autobattle game, and that sounds amazing!

On a completely sepperate note, how hard would it be to change the controls to use the numpad of two sepperate N64 controllers? Or even better, the joystick (though i think the game, being designed for computer, wont handle more than an 8-directional input. maybe look at how the controls for the mobile app might help? idk!)

when you're on the menu where you select characters, have you activated the coop button menu?

I'll try to explain.
We install the mod. One player plays on a joystick, the other two on the keyboard. But in fact they seem to be playing from 1 device

Игорилла, the insert key is only used for pausing, so you could pause using player 1, for example, so you should be good with that

Now it works that I add the first player with E, but I can´t add any other player(I am playing on an laptop where Page up button = the 9 button, if that helps)

How can I add more than one player to the lobby? The keybord is activated and he can control the keybord, but I can´t add more than the first player with "space"

Please add the ability to rebind buttons for each player, because there is no insert button on the partial keyboard

i can't get this to work :/ when i have mod options installed i can't get a single player to join and without mod options only one player can join with space - unfortunately E, Page Up etc don't do anything

try changing the tfgh option, and restart the game, it will work

it doesnt let me use y for 4th player

Hi FurnishedCash, you need to press e, then PAGE UP for second player, then O for third player and Y for fourth player, then you use WASD , ARROWS, IJKL or TFGH to move the cursor on the character select, then you press the same button you joined with and you select a character.
this is for the defualt layout, if you anything, leave it here!

How do you select the characters when playing on the same device?

HY_BOOM, check that your friend has the keyboard activated on remote play, to do that, press tab + shift to open the menu, and then click on the keyboard that appears next to your friend's profile, here are some more precise instructions:

1) Open and run the game
2) Invite friends to remote play by pressing Shift and Tab
3) Open the Steam overlay
4) Navigate to the friend you want to invite
5) Once the friend accepts, click the keyboard icon to grant them keyboard access

this do not work with Remote Play

hi I running on Linux this mod used to work until the latest update, I'm using Proton GE 25, but I have tried default or Proton Experimental but no lucks, I also removed all of the mods but that's not working either. :(

Dear mod author, I have been following this mod for a long time. According to my imagination, I should be able to add multiple characters by long pressing the space multiple times. When I used the old version, I could only add one character by pressing the space, and could not add a second person using the keyboard. Murdoc, maybe you didn't enable the keyboard for your friend if you were playing on steam remote play, to do that, on the steam remote play window, click on the keyboard icon on your friend, then, it should work, if you need mroe help, send me back
