Balance-wise, I'm relatively loose with things.
I do try to aim for something that feels at least somewhat balanced, but ultimately it just comes down to gut feel and I don't really spend entire playthroughs or anything like that to figure out if something is properly balanced or not.
I am always open to balance-related suggestions, though.
tianlu pixiu 29 Jul @ 11:02pm
i'm just now discovering all your mods, these all look like a dream!! I've always hoped Relogic would add more player races, or someone would finally step forward and makes mods for it.. and it looks like you're doing just that!

what's your philosophy when it comes to balancing these? is it important to you that it feels balanced, like weighing the upsides with downsides properly? or do you have a more loose approach and don't really mind if certain races end up extremely powerful?
Turtleren  [author] 28 Jul @ 4:09pm
Info is in the L'il Dragon mod description. You need to make Breath Power Gems and use them.
bord 28 Jul @ 3:30pm
how do you level up your elemental breath (im using storm)
Turtleren  [author] 28 Jul @ 5:24am
noh

Also, tail spikes maybe. Finishing new mod first :p
bof 27 Jul @ 12:35pm
inspiration here, make all the armors work with the dragon body! :)
tyrantish 27 Jul @ 8:20am
will patterns and tail/body accessories like spikes and patterns ever be added?? would love to see that!!! would be super cool :] otherwise i LOOVE this its what ive been wanting for AGES
Turtleren  [author] 27 Jul @ 12:31am
If Charizard counts as a dragon, then yes! ;)

...but in all seriousness, I can't really say for sure. I don't really have a plan for what mods I'm going to make next outside of the immediate future, as I'm just sorta following wherever my inspiration takes me, when it decides to strike me.
wizard2890 26 Jul @ 8:03am
i saw u made other types of dragons. Do you have more you might make (hoping for magma wyrm)
bof 18 Jul @ 3:17pm
I wish you had some awesome melee attack without any weapons like biting or swatting that would complete the power trip idea i had in my head of being a dragon in terraria
Turtleren  [author] 15 Jul @ 6:57pm
...names are patched now!
Turtleren  [author] 15 Jul @ 6:45pm
Those already exist! I need to fix their names though... dyeable was incorrectly spelled as 'dyable'.
Natedogwoof 15 Jul @ 6:17pm
Suggestion can you please add dyeable body's like the lil strange dyeable body from lil dragons mod into this onebthank you, I really want to use Auric Dye
Turtleren  [author] 14 Jul @ 9:59pm
@Hayes, the B'ig Dragons use an edited version of one of the sounds the Moon Lord makes (NPC_Hit_57 specifically). Sounded beastly enough ;)

@F3LLGaming, I did think about that, but implementing them that way would also mean having to replicate all of the functional components of said armours, which in itself is a hassle, but also means if those armours ever change their stats (looking at the possibility in 1.4.5...) I'd have to update mine accordingly. More maintenance :<
Hayes 14 Jul @ 8:54pm
Whats the name of the hurt sounds/which enemy uses them?
F3LLGaming 14 Jul @ 3:28pm
also to add onto that comment if a player accidentally makes the armor you could A) add a alternate craft that can turn it INTO normal armor and vice versa or B) they can just go use the shimmer to uncraft it
F3LLGaming 14 Jul @ 3:26pm
small idea but i think making the armor for the dragons a seperate item that functions like the armor would be far better than it being a vanity set. ideally it would be made in the same way with the same amount of materials but only usable on the dragon race. ive seen other mods like gem dragons have class-only items so hopefully this is possible? because this conflicts with mods like Anti-social if someone wants to wear 2 armor sets for the buffs.
Natedogwoof 14 Jul @ 8:32am
It's already compatible.I've been playing a play through with this with calamity and it's fully compatible
Turtleren  [author] 12 Jul @ 8:38pm
What's Calamity?
electricbeach 12 Jul @ 7:23pm
It's already compatible.
Sanji 11 Jul @ 8:34am
Calamty compatibility plz
Buck608 25 Jun @ 10:28am
now its time to make a b'igger dragon mod lol
Omega_Wolf 11 Jun @ 3:59pm
i see now what my problem is: i didnt even know about affinity gems xD
i havent played in a few months so thats why i thought it was a bug, thank u for the help!
Turtleren  [author] 11 Jun @ 1:42am
Hmm, the immunities should work. Things you can check:
- You have fire breath.
- You have used the Affinity Gem item (this is different from the Breath Gem items). If you want to double check if it's active, you can get a second one and see if it has a vibrating white outline in the inventory.
- The server configs are set up to allow fire/lava protection accordingly.
Omega_Wolf 11 Jun @ 1:33am
for some reason, i dont seem to have fire and lava immunity as a big dragon while being attuned to fire
Raiku 20 May @ 6:47am
okay i found the culprit, in controls, there is a mod that adds: "dash double tap overide" i removed the key, and the dashing now works like normal
Turtleren  [author] 19 May @ 4:32pm
That is not normal. You should be able to, and I haven't personally had any issues with the shield.
Raiku 19 May @ 12:39pm
is that normal if i can't dash using the shield of cthuluh being a big derg ?
Turtleren  [author] 18 May @ 4:25pm
@Inferno47, I take suggestions, bug reports, etc. over on the L'il Discord server (link in the mod description), but I do also look here from time to time.
I've actually been asked about mannequins multiple times, but as it stands I have NO IDEA where to even start on implementing a custom mannequin and couldn't find an example. It'd very likely be a large amount of effort to figure out my own from scratch, something which I don't really have the motivation for as of late 😅

Regarding items becoming other items, I haven't encountered such issues myself before, but I also haven't played my mods with Calamity/Wrath of the Gods. I've heard a couple of folks having issues with Wrath of the Gods and my mods 🤔

Glad to hear you're enjoying the mod though!
Inferno47 18 May @ 2:00pm
This mod is by far one of the best not too popular mods on this workshop and future updates will make it even better. I am wondering if you take suggestions/requests for additions to this mod, if you do could you add something like a mannequin to display the amazing armours. If you don't take requests it's alright, still an amazing mod. I also remember encountering a glitch in multiplayer where some of the placed down items when mined became different items, though i'm not sure if it has been fixed, I believe i was using Calamity and Calamity Wrath of the Gods during the glitch. But overall this mod is unbelievably good.
Turtleren  [author] 22 Apr @ 4:13pm
Make the gates the same way you make vanilla ones: at a Heavy Workbench with wood and iron/lead. You'll need 8 wood and 3 iron/lead bars.
Jonny956 22 Apr @ 2:54pm
how can i make the gates XD
RaptorBlue09 22 Apr @ 4:02am
Furniture for Dragons and 10/10 mod
Event Horizon 22 Apr @ 2:22am
Most likely. I'm still able to use the mod, just had to deactivate one part of it that, admittedly, I didn't much use often (Job Stones), so wasn't much of a loss. Armor renders just great now, though! So lmao.

I believe the activation of Job Stones alters the base appearance of the sprite or something, so placing rendered items that aren't the default size caused it to wig out? I don't really code so I wouldn't know but, just a thought ^^;;
Turtleren  [author] 21 Apr @ 7:44pm
That's... really bizarre. I have no idea why a mod would cause issues with armour rendering, especially considering I leave vanilla code to do most of the dragon armour rendering, save for the legs and any glowing textures.
I can only guess that the other mod hasn't accounted for non-default sprite sizes, which is fair enough in a way considering Terraria is basically hard-coded for the player's default sizes in a few different places.
Event Horizon 21 Apr @ 12:46pm
Update 2: Appears to be a mod conflict with Final Fantasy: Distant Memories (Alpha) mod! Not sure what specifically causes the issue, but uninstalling the FF made the vanity armor work just fine.
Event Horizon 21 Apr @ 12:37pm
Update: Appears to happen with all the vanity armors for the Biggin's. Due to this, I suspect a mod conflict, though I have no idea what would do so. I'll try and hunt it down.

To see what it looks like:

Event Horizon 21 Apr @ 12:29pm
For some reason, the Forbidden Armor set is.. not working correctly. The head accessory works just fine, but when I use the chestpiece and leggings, they cause the dragon's model to mess up - it appears my tail and wings are brought forwards more, hovering ahead of my dragon's body, and the chestplate shows up as like.. a weird red and green image clinging to the background of my character.
Turtleren  [author] 20 Apr @ 11:06pm
I haven't been able to reproduce any such issues myself, so I'm suspecting it's some sort of mod conflict. Anything that touches the player's rendering could risk breaking how the dragons appear, especially the big ones considering their difference in size.
Morbus 20 Apr @ 4:44pm
Super fun mod to play on, but I've noticed an issue I'm not too sure on how to fix
It seems that the breath + most head accessories (for big dragon) don't fit to the actual head, but instead hover below it, and only fit when crouching
Oddly enough accessories for L'il dragon seem to work and are positioned properly
Arakamira 17 Apr @ 6:35pm
Oh my goodness I was trying to figure out a way to get around the effects for all this time by mixing and matching dyes and armour pieces but you're already adding a toggle to it? Thank you so much :sob:
Turtleren  [author] 17 Apr @ 5:27pm
Glad to hear you're enjoying the mod 🩵

I can add a client config option into the L'il Dragon mod where most of the custom set bonus functionality is handled, so you can manually toggle those set effects on or off. You can probably expect that update to come out in the next 30 minutes in v4.6.1

The horn hiding thing is a different beast altogether and I'll probably leave that as it is for now :)
Arakamira 17 Apr @ 4:32pm
I've fallen in love with this mod, the fact there's custom armours for the dragons just makes it better...

Though, is there a chance that you could add some sort of item that disables like, the vanilla set bonus effect? I think the hallowed armour set looks unbelievably pretty, but I'm not a fan of the pulsing and afterimages it leaves behind so it forces me to not use a helmet

It would also be nice if some helmets hid your horns completely since they have the horns poking out a little depending on which horns you picked

Still, this mod is amazing and I love it, thank you for making it a thing!
Turtleren  [author] 5 Apr @ 4:35pm
Hey @Shadow81, dragon breath has two parts:

First, if you haven't already, you need to craft and use a Breath Gem.
Make the Dragon Breath Bench with 10 obsidian, then you'll need 3 of either Ruby, Sapphire, Topaz or Emerald gems to craft a Breath Gem for either Fire, Ice, Electricity, or Life breath respectively.

Second, you need to bind the key in your Controls (from the main menu, Settings > Controls > Keybindings). It's under the MrPlague's Authentic Races category, and it's the Primary Racial Ability. Hope that helps!
Shadow81 5 Apr @ 8:36am
When trying to use the dragon breath abilities, the Z key does not do anything. How can I check to make sure that it is the correct activation key, and how could I edit it in the server.config?
Turtleren  [author] 3 Apr @ 2:27am
They are indeed very good! This community never ceases to impress me with their commitment to these dragons :)
It's an honour to implement such awesome additions~
Syrreth 3 Apr @ 12:16am
The new armors look fantastic, actually blown away by them. That's some insane commitment to do every vanilla armor! Now lets see them complete the repertoire and do every single calamity armor as well!.. Nah, but I wouldn't put it past them after a random drop like that. Good job Chaos_Knight, you legend.
