Fuel Rods Give Radiation

I doubt it for enhanced reactors, but maybe for neurotrauma. If something touches the fuel rods (aside from volatile fulgurium) it won’t be compatible without a patch)

What about the Hazardously Enhanced Reactors and Neurotrauma compatibility?

@Verbose Mode most non-inventory containers such as backpacks, exosuits, crates, etc. work

Ik i was only mentioning it the only real issue i have with the mod is that it affects NPCS and NPCS that spawn with it die if you don't remove it from their inventory.
Verbose Mode 6 Jan @ 10:05pm
What methods are there to safely transport radioactive materials? Any containers that don't count as "handling" it?
TheStormQueen  [author] 6 Jan @ 3:21pm
Your friend isn’t a feature of the mod :D
NPC 6 Jan @ 7:54am
and ofc i mean no offence
NPC 6 Jan @ 7:49am
Mod bad my friend is obsessed with using this mod for "realism" like why it just makes the game harder and kills any npc that spawns with it
Losyashik 9 Dec, 2024 @ 8:54am
для реализма пойдет

Yeah I had said it in the description of the mod - there's nothing in the code that says that Fulgurium gives radiation. It felt a bit weird balancing-wise though, so I decided to put it in. Plus, as you said, it's weird that volatile is so radioactive. Thorium is described as "weakly radioactive," and if fulgurium has no radiation inherently within it then idk how that would work lol
sintri 8 Dec, 2024 @ 6:26pm
Well Fulgurium chunks are listed as "A rare metallic alien material, capable of storing massive amounts of energy. Used in high capacity batteries." So likely not generating heat via radioactive decay. Volatiles have thorium mixed in, tough how mixing the two somehow makes better reactor fuel probably requires some imagination given the nature of Fulgurium is unknown to begin with.

@kingmagma111 I forgot to respond to this before, but yeah I was in a similar boat for a while. I eventually started learning small bits of XML for some personal mods (and for some minor save editing), and decided to quickly create this since it really wasn't that difficult. Just had to change one or two lines of code lol
TheStormQueen  [author] 8 Dec, 2024 @ 11:02am
@The Pizza is Aggressive it likely wouldn’t be necessary as the radiation is only applied when held
kingmagma111 8 Dec, 2024 @ 9:09am
Funny, I thought the exact same thing when I read the trivia blurb on the fuel rod wiki page. I'm not a modder so I didn't have a clue where to start, and it didn't bug me so I forgot. This is cool though, I'll try it out.
The Pizza is Aggressive 8 Dec, 2024 @ 6:50am
if they ever reimplement this, ships should have lockers that block radiation
TheStormQueen  [author] 8 Dec, 2024 @ 1:57am
Love you too <3
M12 8 Dec, 2024 @ 1:42am
you should die
TheStormQueen  [author] 6 Dec, 2024 @ 8:03pm
@Neder3 because it was originally supposed to exist and just doesn't due to a bug lol
heheboi 6 Dec, 2024 @ 3:14pm
Why not.
Langton Industies 6 Dec, 2024 @ 3:10pm
WHY!!!!???!!
TheStormQueen  [author] 4 Dec, 2024 @ 4:40pm
Me when I forgot one line of code and it completely ruined Fulgurium rods and I just didn't notice because I have a mod to not open the debug console on errors :D
TheStormQueen  [author] 4 Dec, 2024 @ 3:23am
Oh yeah I'm aware of that lol I ain't blaming you for it
Just wanted to give diving suits any consolation they could for balancing lol
It doesn't matter that much though; I just wish it was possible to make exceptions for items that don't break it (mainly thermal and electrical goggles)
sokolov 4 Dec, 2024 @ 3:15am
had to make it that way because otherwise the diving suit helmets break horribly :(

also stabilozine can heal radiation sickness, so specific meds arent required
TheStormQueen  [author] 4 Dec, 2024 @ 2:13am
What can I say? I really enjoy the look lol
I originally used it to bypass a restriction made in Sokolov's hats with visible hair mod (I wanted to use helmets without a diving suit) but that restriction has grown on me recently and I ended up making a patch to put both of them together alongside Diving Suit Light Adjustment because I just like all three :D
Won't release that mod though - most of the code is stolen from the Backlit Suits + DSLA patch
heheboi 4 Dec, 2024 @ 1:59am
Erm, someone using backlit suits
TheStormQueen  [author] 3 Dec, 2024 @ 9:11pm
I mean, then just don't be constantly holding fuel rods lol. None of these have any AoE, and are only affected by holding them. Just don't constantly hold them or like install another mod to add more anti-rad meds lol
ALE199 3 Dec, 2024 @ 9:03pm
Yeah but it is kind of a waste when you have so little
TheStormQueen  [author] 3 Dec, 2024 @ 6:34pm
Likely not in this mod specifically. Again, this is just made to fix the radiation bug with fuel rods.

And besides, anti-rad is kinda stupid cheap. Two uranium, one thorium, and one stabilozine is all you need to make one (the uranium and thorium is needed to make radiotoxin, the toxin used to make anti-rad)
ALE199 3 Dec, 2024 @ 5:54pm
I do like this mod, but could you add some early game anti-radiation medicine? like how the Immersive Reactors mod gives you Anti-Rad Pills for both resistence and curing low amount of rad poisoning
TheStormQueen  [author] 3 Dec, 2024 @ 4:17pm
May consider that for an additional mod. This mod was more or less just to fix this bug lol
sokolov 3 Dec, 2024 @ 2:47pm
Having Uranium ore / material emit radiation would be fun too
