I'm sad none of the AC mods seem to work anymore
sanityscraps 28 Feb, 2021 @ 3:31pm
Idk why, but for some reason this doesn't work now either, like any of the faction mods. I assume this is Firaxis' doing.
redbladeliger3500 11 Feb, 2019 @ 9:29pm
I decided to go for this, but if I am reading this correctly there is a point of confusion regarding the Spartan Federation. Why would it be assumed that survivalism would impare construction? Those most akin to survivalists among those I have encountered in the real world are often quite creative in adapting techniques that produce optimum efficiency in adapting the means in which they utilize supplies to survival in their environment. Or is this meant to meant to represent resources being received by the state itself? If the latter is the case than an economic penalty might be more logical.
ZombieCo 26 May, 2018 @ 12:34pm
Im morgan Freeman and Im pissed.
kittyspam 9 Sep, 2016 @ 2:55am
So this says part 1 - I hope this means other things are on the doket to make the game basically a modern alpha centauri?? Updates? Subscribed and next beyond earth game I play will be an AC game.
UristMcKerman 9 May, 2015 @ 6:09am
Morgan Freeman as Morganites leader, lol
Ariatiki 27 Dec, 2014 @ 9:32pm
Thanks a lot! Any plans on adding other aspects of AC into the game. (bases in the ocean, customizeable units, etc.) I realize those are a lot harder than adding factions, but I'm curious if anyone's thinking of doing it.
Direwolf202 15 Dec, 2014 @ 2:52am
I unfortunaltley cannot play this mod because When I try to run a game as the university I find that the game stops responding and then a window apperes saying Civilisation Beyond earth has stoped working does anyone else have the same problem?
zArkham4269 9 Dec, 2014 @ 9:26am
Sorry, forgot my second observation, I don't think the Gaians are as nerfed as people think they are. If anything I'm seeing the Peacekeepers being the troubled one given they just don't seem to build units.
zArkham4269 9 Dec, 2014 @ 9:25am
Also two observations, the SMAC factiions still lag badly in affinity. The worst being The Lord's Belivers. Even with her Faith Power, she's still at 0,0,0 and she was like the second faction to land after the Spartans!

Even with my "power-ups" I'm at 5,0,7 and I think the Spartans are at 0,0,5 with they Gaians at 5,0,1 or soemthing. Given how the tech tree is, I'm shocked that LB's don't have at least a few Supremacy affinity points even if you'd expect the LB's to lean towards Purity.
zArkham4269 9 Dec, 2014 @ 9:22am
Just a quick comment about the new patch. I decided to see how it would affect mods and so I only used ones very few like the Alien Strains and the "Alert of Death by Miasma" I am playing the Crescent Company faction but using this mod for everyone else.

So it could be *any* modded civ, but I got like 3 different iterations of Primogenitor ruins giving me a free affinity. Now I saw in the patch notes they have a mechanism to allow all factions to get those closer together but I think that mechanism is broke and I got them all.
Ben_Mitchell 7 Dec, 2014 @ 12:24pm
Can't seem to get the game to launch with this enabled any ideas?
grizlob 30 Nov, 2014 @ 10:08am
BIG UP! thanks for this mod!
kittyspam 24 Nov, 2014 @ 9:28pm
HELL YESSS!!!! and as for not using the AC pics I expect there were copyright issues ....
JEELEN 23 Nov, 2014 @ 10:14am
The traits seem very true to SMAC, but the leader pics (original though they are) kind of fall out of place with other factions. In other words: why on Earth did you not use SMAC pics?
neoamerican 23 Nov, 2014 @ 8:24am
What's with the Lord's believer's sponsor pic? Looks nothing like Godwinson.....

And why is her AI so pointlessly aggressive?
HousePet 20 Nov, 2014 @ 11:00pm
You used the same name for the addon as I would have done.
I'm mildly freaked out.
pgames-food 19 Nov, 2014 @ 5:56pm
cool morgan gfx :)
zArkham4269 18 Nov, 2014 @ 10:39am
Have played two games, one as the Gaians and one as the Spartans. I was suprised the Morganites weren't more powerful. However I did notice that the Lord's Believers really lag in affinity, often only having 2 total when others have around 6-8. What I can say is you need to un-nerf the Peacekeepers. I've seen them go most of a game w/o practically any units even though they are ahead in tech, wonders and affinity. I haven't taken them out (yet) because I needed the trade route money and couldn't afford the health penalty.
Marcvsiulius 16 Nov, 2014 @ 10:27am
Just testing your mod, everything is fine, but the other faction leaders don't appear on diplomacy screen. I use resolution 1280x1024, maybe there's some problem with that? I'm also using the euphotic stimulator, randomize colony names and map revealing technology mods, althogh I don't think they are the cause. I'm also having problems with the University logo. It appears on diplomacy conversations, but not at the diplomacy windows.
blep  [author] 16 Nov, 2014 @ 1:54am
@Shadow

It shouldn't be mine either, actually - the Believer's promotion uses Rejinaldo's old promotion and so the UI isn't affected (or at the very least, hasn't been in the multiple games I've played). I'm willing to guess the user is probably using another mod as well.
Shadow 15 Nov, 2014 @ 9:01pm
Hey, Albie. I got a report about unit UI glitches using my Alien Strains mod in combination with this one, and it couldn't be on my end since I'm not using the promotions system anymore. So I looked into your files, and it seems the "+20% Strength outside borders" ability the Believers receive is implemented through a promotion, and might be causing the aforementioned glitches.

Luckily, though, you can achieve the same effect through a perk, using the OutsideFriendlyLandsMod function. You can look into Alien Strains' files to see how I automatically apply largely invisible perks to give units special abilities.
Marcvsiulius 15 Nov, 2014 @ 4:51pm
That's fine, then, @Albie_123 , I've downloaded it, and I'll try it soon.
blep  [author] 15 Nov, 2014 @ 3:30pm
@ Marcsvsiulius

They don't get Affinity units, only 'regular' units. I'd like to be able to explain this in the UA text but unfortunately the Beyond Earth UI won't let me.
Charles Martel 15 Nov, 2014 @ 11:55am
Give me the Cybernetic Conciousness and the Nautilus Pirates and I'll download the heck out of it.
Marcvsiulius 15 Nov, 2014 @ 5:17am
Maybe you should prevent the Spartan Federation of getting the major units, like the ANGEL, the rocktopuss, and the like with their unique ability Propotypes. The rest, more "standard" units are Ok.
Snobgoblin 13 Nov, 2014 @ 8:32am
This look really cool! Have to give it a spin!
MetaAdInfinitum 12 Nov, 2014 @ 11:07pm
@JayDee: One solution is not to set the Graphics to Minimum. I'd be pretty okay with some blown up portrait or concept art from SMAC being used, even if it didn't look like the CivBE style since (without the other 8 factions) it'd be consistant.

If that's not possible, then whatever: It's still a lot done to revive the feeling of the Original SMAC and it's been less than a month since the game was first released.

@Albie: Subscribed. It'll be a while before I'm free to sit down and play a game but I'll give you some feed back once I can.
blep  [author] 12 Nov, 2014 @ 2:32pm
@zArkham

Nope. The only possible issue I can see is that any mod that reuses Rejinaldo's promotion for any possible reason will end up with the Believer's promotion (I don't think any mod has actually done this though, to the best of my knowledge)
zArkham4269 12 Nov, 2014 @ 11:03am
Does replacing the original factions matter when adding modded factions to the mix?
TheHoggle 11 Nov, 2014 @ 9:02am
I love SMAC, and I appreciate all the work you are putting in. However I loved SMAC and the changes you have made really just make the game feel like something of your own creation, the faces are brutal, and the quote voices are not there. Maybe this is something you plan on adding later but for me as of now this doesnt feel like SMAC given your are having to change much of what is still BE.
Fabricator 11 Nov, 2014 @ 6:04am
@Sapphire, I think the reason they've got a -50% is due to how in SMAC University were very lacking in the covert department and basically were always more at risk or less successful with such operations.

Also really loving this and can't wait to see the factions from Crossfire as well. Would it be possible to pick and chose between the two collections? Say I want to play University but want to go up against the Data Angels?
blep  [author] 11 Nov, 2014 @ 4:37am
@Oldstead66 - due to their free Alien Bio tech, Gaians start with harmony levelled. I don't really see any of the other factions as tethered to certain affinities. Why couldn't the Hive's oneness extend to the selves of Planet? Why couldn't The Believers see the native life as a gift for humans, in the vein of God's command to 'rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky'? I really like what Beyond Earth did with affinities for this reason! :)
Oldstead66 11 Nov, 2014 @ 4:24am
This is brilliant work. Look forward to trying it. One idea I had myself, was how to mix affinities with this. Could the Gaians not get a boost in Harmony from the start, The Human Hive could be supremacist (in my head they fit atleast) And The Lord's Believers Purity of course.
Séb 10 Nov, 2014 @ 10:45am
I'm not quite sure University was about free-flow of information. Wasn't that more the Data Angels? I've always had the impression that the University was more in a "all knowledge for me" line...
Gonok21 9 Nov, 2014 @ 9:43pm
But.... the university was all about the free-flow of information. Isolation doesn't make sense.

Also I feel some of these penalties are too high. Haven't played it though, so I wouldn't really know...
Sapphire Bullets 9 Nov, 2014 @ 12:35pm
For The University, wouldn't "Increased Intrigue Growth in cities" be more appropriate?
VNLover 9 Nov, 2014 @ 6:54am
The peacekeepers managed to spawn twice in my game, for some reason. Probably something to do with replacing the original sponsors with them.
blep  [author] 8 Nov, 2014 @ 6:46pm
Try playing a game with them, please. Believers are actually remarkably good in the hands of the player and the AI alike. Spartans are pretty useless in the hands of the AI, but that's unsurprising considering they are combat-oriented.
Fņŏŕď 8 Nov, 2014 @ 5:43pm
The problem is their not balanced at all. Morgan is OP. Spartans and Believers are just weak.
UnderKingDuck 8 Nov, 2014 @ 1:14pm
Would you do something like this with the orginal factions in BE? I think that would be rather interesting. Also I do have a question. Is it possible in anyway to see the return of UB and UU for different factions in BE like in Civ 5?
Brother 8 Nov, 2014 @ 9:45am
Would it be possible for you to make a version that adds them to game alongside the other sponsers?
omnizor 8 Nov, 2014 @ 9:37am
the Gaia penalty is way too intense. Halve it and I think you have a reasonable faction there
jomarg7290 8 Nov, 2014 @ 9:32am
Also I wanted to run an idea by you. To make the game much more active rather than a bunch of passive bonuses. Something like a Colonist Revised mod, basically when starting a game and choosing your seeding, colonist are pretty boring. They just give you passive stats. What if instead there was an active component to colonist, to make the game more rewarding and further the strategy of picking your start to alter the way you play. For instance Refugees grant +1 extra food whenever you build a farm. This is just a basic example but takes away the boring passive boost you get and instead makes it something you have to do to get the bonus. What do you think? I'd do it myself but I have very limited modding skills resorting to just tweaking other mods. Anyways thanks again and let me know what you think.
zArkham4269 8 Nov, 2014 @ 9:31am
On further reflection, I think Gaians would be better off if certain tile improvements cost more if this is doable. So things like farms, energy collectors and the like would be fine, but mines, quarries and the like would cost a lot. Maybe even have a health penalty like the manufacturing plant. Given how hard keeping one's empire healthy, I think this would work better.
jomarg7290 8 Nov, 2014 @ 9:25am
Hey Albie Just wanted to thank you for your mods I think they are awesome and I have had a ton of fun trying them out. I aprreciate the time and effort you put into them to make the game a more challenging and fufilling experience for us players.
zArkham4269 8 Nov, 2014 @ 9:22am
That being said, so far I believe this is the best SMAC conversion so far.
zArkham4269 8 Nov, 2014 @ 9:21am
I wondered why the Planetfall Mod for Civ IV used Morgan Freeman and the Reverend Mother for their factions because who doesn't want to put the hate on Morgan and Sister Miriam. (Who didn't hate her early game rushes?)

Also, I think you need to tweak Morgan Industries negative. While I sort of see it being a result of no safety, health and the like, it also doesn't marry up with their expansiveness inherent into their no-holds-barred capitalistic style. Not quite sure what can be done given BE screwed the pooch by mixing happiness with health.
Replica 8 Nov, 2014 @ 8:21am
Where are the actual SMAC leaders?
Morgan Freeman, a cyborg zombie lady from some sci fi movie and what looks to be a north korean leader doesn't quite match up with who I remember leading in SMAC...
Pillow 8 Nov, 2014 @ 6:58am
Thanks for your work on your mods. Is there an easy way to alter the faction city colors? Morgan and University both appear yellow, Hive and Peacekeepers both appear white.
