I think vanilla already make the amount in the packet random, not 100% sure tho haven't played in a bit.

The idea behind putting a single cigs in wallet was to give that small extra chance to find cig when your really desperate and make them useful, hardly a reason to look at wallet in vanilla. It just give you that small slight of hope when your see a wallet.

I don't know how realistic putting a cig in a wallet is but I definitely stored a joint in mine before lol

I think it makes more sense for zombies to drop cigarette packs that are not full and sealed instead of units, so you should forget wallets. But cheroots and cigars makes sense at units, since they are way more expensive.

I think I found how to do it on the modding discord.. now is it a good idea to change the cigarette to be allowed in wallet again? I guess the drawback is that you can put a shit ton of them in there..

They didn't drop purses when I made this mod that's for sure, so not sure if that's a B42 bug.

Alright so there a new tag on item called "FitsWallet" and I have no idea how or if it's even possible to edit that in a mod. It's in a .txt file.

I didn't know about this bug, but I went into debug mode, grabbed a knife and jawstabbed a bunch of them (it was pretty fun ngl). And in fact, it seems like they don't drop the purse as loot anymore. But the mod still helps with the insane lack of smokes in that apocalyptic world.

Well I don't know what they changed but it's straight up impossible to even put a cigarette or rolled cigarette inside a wallet anymore. Doesn't matter that it's a 0.1 encumbrance item and the wallet has a capacity of 1 and is empty. It become red when you drag it on the wallet.

Seems like they cracked up on what can be put in a wallet, I can't put a 0.1 worm either. So weird.

Hum so they do still spawn but I got 3 rolling paper and 2 matchbox out of 110 wallet which is pretty freaking far from the amount I was getting when I first "calibrated" this mod lol. I wonder what they changed, maybe just added more stuff in the wallet loot table.

BTW I have never ever seen a purse ever, did you actually see one!? I spawned multiple thousands of zombie to test this mod. Never a purse. I wonder if it's just the horde manager that does this. I still gave them tobacco item in the loot table just in case tho.

Funny thing, I use the horde manager to spawn 100 zombie and there no way to spawn them dead, but you can spawn them "fake dead" and they instantly drop dead. Before they would stay dead. But they fixed that bug it seems, because now when you turn around they all come back. Scared the living shit out of me lol

Wallets and purses aren't spawning with the loot anymore. But zombie loot is still good.

Added some lighter and matches spawn, sorry for the delay. Gonna try to add the customisation settings soon.

Update: It worked I found a pack of papers and a tobacco pouch ;) That settles me for a while

Thank you. I will try again. I just loaded an older save with your mod active and there they are. All the items. I actually do not get it. The mod list is almost the same. Maybe I forgot to activate it when starting the save. That would probably explain it.

There two way of doing a mod like this, either you replace the whole spawn table or you add to it. Any more replacing the whole table will break any mod that load before them. So if a mod was doing that and was loaded after mine, it would cancel my mod out. My mod is adding to the table so it's safe to add it after another mod changing the same thing. Worse case your just adding more chance for tobacco item to spawn if you have two mod that add them. So basically try putting my mod at the end of the load order. With 100 zombie there very little chance you would get nothing from my testing.

Okay something is not working for me. I can't find ANY of the items. no tobacco, no cigarettes, no papes no nothing. I killed almost 100 zombies now and none had a single tobacco item. Are there any mods overwriting this?

matches were everywhere back then, gas stations, stores, literally any business would give them out for free if asked with their branding on them. you can still get a pack of matches from most gas stations if you ask for one for free

Matches for smokes I was say was pretty light, even in '93. Usually people used lighters as they were more effective.

@facepump @Seemo I'll look into adding some spawn for those, honestly that just make sense anyway to find lighter on zombie. I'll make it so those disposable lighter spawn a lot more than the b41 one. Gonna be more realistic I think. Do you think the disposable lighter should be more frequent than matches? I have seen a lot more of those than matches or zippo in my life. But I was also 8 in 1993, so maybe I don't remember that much and matches were more popular back then lol.

@nicevibe Do you have the loot rate to rare? Do you have lucky? Just trying to understand if it's a setting on your side. I haven't really tested the spawn rate with other difficulty than survival or trait that help spawn rate.. mostly because it's not like I have a lot of control on spawn rate there. I have one number I can give it that apply to all difficulty. But anyway I do plan on making the number configurable soon, just want to make sure I have the right default setting first as I don't expect people to give me much feedback about that once I do. If you want you can edit the file in "steamapps\workshop\content\108600\3393726240\mods\SmokeLikeIts93\42\media\lua\server\items\SmokeLikeIts93.lua" to set custom spawn rate for now. Just backup your change in case I update the mod.

About finding tobacco seeds -- unless you forage them (which I haven't seen anyone do since this update came out), then they are impossible to get ingame. There seems to be no tobacco seed pack added into the game, despite there being a full growing and drying cycle functionally implemented into the game.
I don't know if there was some bug that made the devs cut this system from the game or if it was an oversight, but someone would either need to add a tobacco seed pack as a whole new item into the game, or make it so that tobacco seeds can spawn inside of farming stores by themselves.

Thank you for making this mod, the unstable update is currently in an unplayable state when trying to use the smoker trait and this solves one of the main issues causing that.
As other people have mentioned, lighters almost never spawn on zombies anymore, which could be able to be addressed in the same way this mod addresses the cigarette spawn rate. This is less of an issue in my opinion, because we can now light cigarettes with ovens, but it would be a useful change.

hey this is a great an needed mod, i feel u have it really balanced with the rate of smokes on z's .

the problem im seeing. after a good 10 hours or more in playing this mod. is all these zombies having smokes.. ud really think maybe one or a few of them would have some type of way to light their smokes. i smoke, my lighter is always with them.

i do see ur mention of low spawn rates in the description .. tbh the spawn is like non existent :(

Making the percentage customizable would be nice as you said in the description. It's way to hard to find cigarettes in vanilla 42 at the moment, but this swung it too far the other direction for me where I'm finding one on every other body.

Just now realising your comment is more about implementing growable tobacco, than about the spawn rate of seeds. I haven't tested it but tobacco is suppose to be a growable plant in b42.

Yeah I'm wondering where those spawn, I have yet to find any seeds. I'm not sure about adding them on zombie as that doesn't seem very realistic. It always fell weird in B41 to find single tobacco seed on zombies (with that tobacco overhaul mod that I forgot the name) and I want to avoid that. But i'll take a look at the spawn table to see where they spawn and maybe add more places if that seem needed.

This is a great mod! As a suggestion, though I know it'd take a lot more work. But being able to find tobacco plant seeds and grow your own tobacco could be a next step for this mod, or as a separate side mod to this. Just food for thought :)

*thank you*. It always bothered me that *so little* cigarettes spawn in game when even though I was a baby in the early 90s I still remember grabbing a pop can off the coffee table and getting a mouthful of ash. Everyone friggin' smoked back then.
