Causes the butcher hook UI to fail. Do not use this mod
daniel_pace 24 Jun @ 1:10pm
This needs a update
GeneralGwolf 14 Jun @ 7:41pm
Thank you so much for the amazing mod.
With the most recent release, it seems that this mod is causing an error when accessing the butcher hook. The menu will not open when clicked.
Just wanted to make you aware.
KeepItDory 4 Jun @ 6:09pm
The numbers for the cows make sense, pigs also seem reasonable, but deer seem a little questionable and rabbits are totally off. My family used to raise meat rabbits and one rabbit will feed one person. They aren't big. I also hunt and while wild rabbits can will get older and bigger than farmed rabbits they still probably won't be feeding two people. I would say 1-2 meat per rabbit is more sensible.

is there an patch that can kill rat got on hand?
Thread 17 May @ 11:57pm
I removed this mod after it wasn't working (head bug) and it destroyed my save. Use with caution
Tank5168 16 May @ 3:56am
The animal's head cannot be removed.
capsulexxx 12 May @ 6:41am
can't remove head

HEAD BUG
F1tgal911 25 Apr @ 3:33pm
Pls fix head bug.
xenotrip 20 Apr @ 11:53am
When I have this mod active I can no longer gather heads off the butchers hook from animals. Will this be fixed?
encrede 19 Apr @ 5:10am
what is the vanilla formula for calculating amount of meat from butchering?
Flexible Games 31 Mar @ 12:56pm
Yeah, I updated this and am testing now
Major script update and wasn't sure if the OP wants to update it.
intnox 25 Mar @ 3:28am
Confirm, Head cannot be removed on the hook.
And need to enter debug mode to delete the animal carcass.
If is on the ground butchering works normally.
Eiko 20 Mar @ 1:42am
The last PZ update broke something, the head cannot be gathered and so the whole process of butchering stays incomplete.

@rayman did the project humanoid subreddit leak to steam??
rayman 10 Mar @ 6:55pm
could you add human corpse ?
Slalt 6 Mar @ 7:09pm
@Pro_gamer1230 , hey man. I've getting some bugs due the introduction of the racoons. Just to let you know.
mich 6 Mar @ 11:11am
If you butcher an animal, you should have so much meat the problem should be storing it all. The pitiful amount feels so wildly different to reality (especially when compared to other game mechanics) I would rather not play with animals. Thanks for this mod, I might actually give animals a shot now.
NaNoServers 5 Mar @ 3:43pm
Not enough meat?? HUH?
I think the vanilla game is way too OP already.
I eat 1/4th of a doe steak and get the max full stomach moodlet, making one doe steak last me for 2 days. Thats huge, considering they drop like 6, and that there is other food in the game as well/you killed/butcher more than just one animal anyway.

Or am I not getting something?
Dru 27 Feb @ 1:53am
I think the Ram (sheep) is missing. I butchered one and it gave me negligible amount of meat.
Irritant 20 Feb @ 3:41pm
@Pro_gamer1230 - That discussion you linked to is from two years ago and doesn't apply to B42. Just kill a cow, right-click, and you'll see the option to pick it up (as long as you're not over-encumbered to begin with). It's probably a temporary mechanic until they add the option to "drag" animal corpses, like they have for zombie corpses, but that's how it works, currently - you can go above the limit as long as it's just one item. The same thing applies to car seats, BTW. Even if a car seat can only carry 20 kg (which is nonsensical, because a person weighs more than that - but let's ignore that for now), you can still put a 40-kg generator on it as long as it's the only item.
Irritant 20 Feb @ 3:33pm
@梦才_MornTsuy - That refers to dead animals coming back to life on the hook. Unrelated to the amount of meat, which is what this mod changes.
Irritant 20 Feb @ 3:32pm
@Pro_gamer1230 - You can definitely pick up a cow (or anything) as long as you're below your normal carry weight limit before you pick it up (i.e., if you're already overloaded, you can't pick it up, but if you're not overloaded you can always pick up one item, regardless of weight). Your character just starts slowly losing health if you walk while over-encumbered. If you couldn't pick up a cow, you wouldn't be able to put it on a butcher's hook (which is part of the vanilla game).
梦才_MornTsuy 13 Feb @ 1:34am
- Fixed Frankenstein animals on butcher hook. Sorry.
This is a content from the B42.3 game update on February 12th. I don’t know what it means, but it seems to be related to your hook modification.
Mantisek 10 Feb @ 11:26am
It's annoying that I have to 'fix' every indie store feature with a mod. What are they thinking with this? I got 2 pieces of pork from a fully grown pig sow.

Why do they keep doing shit like this?
Hepatitus B 9 Feb @ 9:58pm
Thank you so much for making this mod
after butchering a 650kg bull and getting 1 steak and 2 beef ( less calories than 4 eggs) at butcher 5 i was ready to quit
Constantine 3 Feb @ 11:54am
Rabbits need to be rebalanced, doesn’t seem realistic with the amount we get from butchering them, although everything else feels just about right
Irlfit 3 Feb @ 10:34am
Aren't rabbits a bit overtuned? Got nearly 40 cuts from 3 small appalachians
Blood 30 Jan @ 5:57am
Great mod, definitely feels more realistic than getting just three tiny pieces of meat from cows/deer/pigs. Though definitely would love to see config for multiplayer. Just to mix challenge, and realism somewhat. In any case, props. <3 the mod.

https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/app/108600/discussions/0/3198119742674166784/ heres a discussion about the weight "issue" I am wrong. It does not kill the player but prevents you from doing anything. I'm unsure what would happen if you "forcefully" add more than that. I'm not willing to try and find out. Someone else can.
Pro_gamer1230  [author] 29 Jan @ 6:10pm
@Irritant Numbers are based off of the numbers you can find in the file lua file quoted in the mod description. They are rough estimates because I can be bothered to read any more of that spaghetti code to figure out what its doing. I found the "tuning" numbers based solely on the name of the variables. Was not hard to figure out.

IIRC, the vanilla code does not change *quantity* just the *quality* of meat based on skill.

And I don't think... you can pick up a cow...?

I will admit I am probably wrong or misquoting whatever I heard some other modder say. There is some sort of hard limit at 50kg, I know that much. It's always explained why at a certain point you can't pick up a fridge anymore, and you have to put stuff down first. I'm aware of the slow health degradation and sitting down causes it to stop, but I still think that's below 50kg.
Irritant 27 Jan @ 12:58pm
BTW, carrying more than 50 kg doesn't "automatically kill the player" (you're able to pick up a whole cow, after all), it just causes health to start going down if you're standing / walking (it'll stop decreasing if you sit in a car, for example).
Irritant 27 Jan @ 12:54pm
Does this take the butchering skill into account? What skill level are the amounts you listed based on?
ЛЮБЛЮ ТВИКС 25 Jan @ 5:51pm
@advers
i'm not sure but maybe it's a cutting skill thing or something like that, maybe it's because you don't know how to cut meat well yet, if i'm wrong it's really funny

I once killed two chickens, butchered them and their condition was different, you know what I mean, that is, one was in a much better condition than the other and this affected the hunger relief
advers 24 Jan @ 9:41am
i got 4 mutton chops i butchered from a dead ram i found on a farm (cdda), -9 hunger each lmao...... wtf are those devs doing, adding bloated systems without giving them much thought besides just making them function, its sad
Pro_gamer1230  [author] 23 Jan @ 7:05am
Patch released to putting adult rabbits on a diet

- reduced base chance for all adult rabbits meat chance. This should hopefully make outputs more inline with the advertised values.
Kal 22 Jan @ 6:09pm
Not too sure what breed it was, I think it was the cottontail just out west of Muldraugh between the towns
antenociti 22 Jan @ 11:41am
Just FYI - I got well over a dozen from a rabbit - it was wild roadkill if that makes a difference?... iirc it was an Appalachian cottontail female... haven't had that many since from other rabbits though. Going to restart for 42.1....
Pro_gamer1230  [author] 22 Jan @ 8:51am
@Kal Thank you for reporting the issue, however, I have been unable to recreate the problem. The value is hardcoded at 6 - 10 for all adult rabbits. The only other number that comes into play is the "meatRatio". I spawned in... too many rabbits... went a bunch of farms, and never found one with a ratio over 1 but that does not mean it's impossible.

I think you were extremely lucky and got one fat ass rabbit and hit every single bonus through pure RNG.

Curious, do remember what breed of rabbit or where you located this fat ass?
Kal 21 Jan @ 3:47pm
I got 15 rabbit meat from one adult female at the start of the game, I think the numbers might need adjusting
Pro_gamer1230  [author] 21 Jan @ 2:43pm
Updated for 42.1 - see change notes.

I will look into adding configurations so the values can be customized when creating a new game in a later update. Thanks.
Mazmundie 18 Jan @ 4:17pm
feels great from the realism perspective but it makes the food seem a tad too easy, any chance we can get some tools with this mod to tone down the meat we get a little, cheers for your work sir
Pro_gamer1230  [author] 9 Jan @ 2:38pm
If you cannot wait for me and inclined to make the balance more realistic I would encourage taking a look at the file noted in the mod description - you can change it there but it will get overwritten in the next PZ update; you would also have to uninstall this mod so there are not any conflicts.

Best practice is to create a mod locally that you just don't push to the workshop but this can be rather monotonous if you are not into modding.

That or live with what I have published now :P
Pro_gamer1230  [author] 9 Jan @ 2:18pm
@Peter Han Technically yes but outside of my abilities... I don't really know Lua well enough to pull that off, I only made this mod out of frustration with the B42 vanilla balance and it was trivial for me to figure out how to change it.

At this point I'm waiting for the next update before I change anything.

If they do not fix the issue I'm looking to buff the values a bit more since albeit they are not even close to the hard limits yet. + I also want to launch a re balanced meat mod because the current calories for meat is a joke and I think that is the crux of the problem.

That all said I could not agree more with @Sovey 's comment. An increase is definitely needed, but making it too realistic sort of breaks the fun. While I could work around it in theory, I'm just not inclined to do so at this point (at least for this mod)
Sovey 8 Jan @ 9:41am
Current vanilla butchering is a joke compared to other food sources like getting thousands of calories worth of butter from 1 bucket of milk, but remember realism is not always the best option (and I say it as a big realism fan). If you could get 200 kg of meat from a single animal like a deer or cow, food would be literally a non existent problem. Even with lvl 0 butchering, visit random farm, butcher a cow and have unlimited meat for months to survive. Realistic? Maybe. Fun? Not at all. So the vanilla amounts need to be increased, but not to be too "realistic".
Peter Han 8 Jan @ 8:31am
Is there a way to put slaughtered meat on the ground?
Pro_gamer1230  [author] 8 Jan @ 6:51am
@Peter Han The reason I can't go any higher or did not go "realistic" is because of the hard cap at 50kg on a character - anything more automatically kills the player, hence I had to keep things reasonably under that amount.
Slermish 6 Jan @ 10:30pm
@niuhas Its an unstable beta, things are going to change in the actual release. I thought that was obvious for most people but as always there are exceptions for the special minded.
Mr McChew 3 Jan @ 12:20pm
Thanks for the mod.
Can rabbits be put on butcher hooks? My game won't let me. Not sure if that's a bug.
Can you make it so butchering rabbits on the ground gives their leather?
