Just saw this much needed mod, can it be added safely mid game? I already have a hussar.

tested it, and it works perfectly fine on 1.6, just needs a tag update

small update is out, vre hussars no longer generates all those specific weapon aptitude genes.
if you had a save with the previous version of the mod, you might see some harmless errors but they can be safely ignored and will go away after you save and reload again.

Not to backseat your mod development, but if I was doing this, I would try to prevent those apptitude genes from being generated in the first place. Although this would cause save compatibility issues. Any case, based on what you said, this mod is pretty much exactly what I want, so thank you.

@Samuel_Bucher I only removed the natural generation of those genes for compatibility purposes, didn't know whether it'd be better to completely remove them or keep them so I went with the safest option.

Does this mod not remove the weapon apptitude genes? I see the general apptitude genes it adds, but the procedural per-weapon ones are also in the list.

Would it be possible to give it just a bit more granularity? like say Ranged: Pistol, Ranged:Rifle, Melee:Dagger, Melee: Axe etc

So glad for this mod. Really avoided using Expanded Hussars because it was so much gene clutter.

@Cav if you're able to load the save I assume you can just edit pre-existing Hussars using dev or Character Editor. Future Hussars should be fine.
