We're just 10 subscriptions short of reaching 1000 users, YOWZA!

I promise to (attempt to) port the mod to B41 once we reach that threshold :)
pimatstudio  [author] 16 Jun @ 2:25am
OK, the easiest way out of the problem would be for me to make a custom version of the mod. All it takes is replacing player:Say() into return statements. I can send it to you and give you instructions how to run the mod from your PC but you'll have no updates coming your way if you decide to use it, it's fixed on your PC then.

I sent you an invitation to friends, hit me up once you accept it and I'll send you the custom version.
OxTailSafu 15 Jun @ 5:23pm
I may have to do that, although putting a single space in the text box didn't work. It still states nil despite that.
pimatstudio  [author] 15 Jun @ 4:55pm
Oh, in this case this can be done, sure, but sadly when you put such option in mod options it would reset itself with all the other options when that purge occurs. I've no idea where else to put such option, technically it could be done but that's using sledgehammer to crack a nut, you'd have to have an ini fiile that holds your strings that you'd want to use, but then you'd have to have some sort of a system to read from it aswell...

Frankly I'd consider reducing the number of your mods, if you've a few, cause lemme tell you, once I got rid of a lot of mods I didn't really need, my game loads way faster, and I didn't tell you but I also had that problem with mod options resetting, this way I know that you can recover them from the ini backup. And the problem stopped once I reduced the number of my mods

So lemme know how the option with the space goes, I think it might work.
OxTailSafu 15 Jun @ 3:43pm
Oh I don't think it needs to be blank by default, cause I do agree with that. I was moreso just thinking of a toggle that you can click that would turn them off that you can then save. I'll definitely try the space option however.

Thank you also for the guidance regarding saving mod options! I'm not really sure why it happens on my end, but I'm hoping it'll save me a bunch of headaches in the future! :)
pimatstudio  [author] 15 Jun @ 2:17pm
If I understand correctly, you're asking if it's possible to make it blank by default, but then the new users would have no way of knowing that this option is configurable, and hence it could cause them to think the mod's not working at all, since there's no visual feedback.

You can set the text to be blank I believe by entering a space in the textbox :) but if you're struggling with the mod options retracing to defaults, then this should not happen normally at all. My advice is to copy the modOptions.ini file which you can find is C:\<username>\Zomboid\lua folder, but first enable ALL the mods that you set settings for and set them according to your will so that they get recorded in the file, and then when the settings get reset (for some reason which should not be the case as I said), just replace the file with the backup.

Hope that helps!
OxTailSafu 15 Jun @ 12:36pm
Do you think there's a way to completely disable the text that appears when you're out of smokes/lighters? I understand you can just delete all the text in the box, but that simply causes the text nil to appear. I mainly ask since there are times my settings end up resetting (such as when entering a new save to test mods and I don't end up enabling this mod in that save).
pimatstudio  [author] 6 Jun @ 5:55am
Thanks for your report. I'll keep that in mind though big thanks to anyone who can double down on this since it's odd but thanks for reporting anyways :)
Im BioShocked 5 Jun @ 2:25pm
If you change the text for smoking (those 9 lines you customize) you get a LUA error and the game wont load the main menu... im unsure if its a conflict with another mod or not but it work without changes but crashes once you do.
gamberomadness 25 May @ 10:40am
Thanks pal!
Sure, I'll keep on using 42.6 for a while and report if something breaks, but its working like a charm for now :)
pimatstudio  [author] 25 May @ 10:35am
Wow, that's new now. Thanks for the info, I'mma change it then!
Though it's still advised to use it on the latest version to be 100% sure there's no unwanted error. Happy to hear you're not having any issues!
gamberomadness 25 May @ 10:32am
I'm on 42.6 and its working great
Saying this because if it's not stated in the .info file, you have to go into debug mode to enable the mod while running a older PZ version
I modified mine to versionMin=42.6.0
pimatstudio  [author] 25 May @ 10:26am
You mean 42.7.x? Absolutely, it should be working in every 42 build.
gamberomadness 25 May @ 8:57am
Hey! Is this mod still compatible with the previous unstable version?
pimatstudio  [author] 9 May @ 3:52pm
Hi, in a moment the mod is getting yet another update, much needed in my opinion, though quite small of an improvement altthough substantial, I mean there will now be an indicator which item there is to smoke/chew when there's only one available and the character uses it automatically .

Till now there was no way of telling if the character uses a cheroot or a normal cig, now the problem'll be gone in a moment :)

Hope you find it useful.

Thank you very much for all the subscriptions, it means a lot to me :)))

There's still only one translation apart from my own (so there's Polish and Russian), the Russian needs a small patch (missing a few strings), I encourage you to make a translation if you know a foreign language, there's more of you there for sure :)
pimatstudio  [author] 4 May @ 11:03am
Thanks for this tip, I'll take a look into it, sorry for late reply.
EDIT: OK it seems you might be referring to unpacking cheeroot which does not exist in the game since cheroots are not packed into packets :) Because everyhting seems to be in workking order.
OxTailSafu 13 Apr @ 4:31pm
I'm not sure if this was always the case, but the radial menu doesn't seem to recognize Cheroot tobacco.
pimatstudio  [author] 13 Apr @ 3:25pm
@Dumbledood, well, your command is my wish, as they say, and it HAS BEEN introduced now :)))

MOREOVER, I am planning on creating new mod, and it aligns with your description as well, so stay tuned :)
pimatstudio  [author] 8 Apr @ 5:31am
If your keybinds aren't working anymore, it's because the mod has been updated, massively updated. Please head to ModOptions (options -> mods) and configure the only MASTER key.
Slobodskoy 17 Feb @ 3:33pm
`bout Dumbledood`s idea - it`s realy cool
Slobodskoy 17 Feb @ 3:30pm
@pimatstudio,
I don't even know. I've been picking through the game files in my free time lately, then I've been testing for half a day))) There's no time to just play yet.
all people are waiting for the release of full multiplayer in the game.
pimatstudio  [author] 17 Feb @ 3:19pm
After the 2.0.0 update, the mod will no longer be marked as WIP (work in progress). Further development will be replaced by maintaining necessary fixes and support, but active feature development will be concluded. From that point on, I will shift my focus to developing a new mod, which will be my next major project. And it will be really, really helpful.

For now all I can say is that it'll also be a QoL focused mod. Pretty much aligned with @Dumbledood's (12 Feb @ 10:02pm) idea.
pimatstudio  [author] 17 Feb @ 3:19pm
Spasiba!! Will be included in the next update. By the way, it may take a little longer than the updates in the past, so probably a week or maybe even two.
Primarily because I need to focus on other things, and it will be marked 1.3.3 or 1.4 depending on the actual change scope, and it will be the last update before one major update to 2.0.0.

You can suggest what you would like to see done in the last development stage. I will consider your feedback to shape just the mod just the way you'd all like to play for months, possibly even years.
pimatstudio  [author] 17 Feb @ 3:09am
Hey hey! Thanks for your feedback! I'd like to clarify that it's most probably an incorrect sentence building on my part, cause... My intent was to indicate how many different kinds of packs you have, regardless of the overall count of individual packs. So a situation like this [imgur.com] is correct from the mod's logic perspective.

But it's probably not one that my English teacher would've approved... Pardon. I'll change the dialogue line to:
I've got this many! different types of packs in my inventory. I need to unpack one first.

Does that sound right? Was that the issue in the first place? Sorry for the confusion, anywayz ;)
Slobodskoy 16 Feb @ 6:54pm
I have it written all the time that I have 1 pack of cigarettes. Although there may be 2, three, or five of them.
pimatstudio  [author] 16 Feb @ 5:04pm
If you get any errors with the mod, please unsubscribe, wait 5 seconds, and re-subscribe.
The Polish translation for modOptions is suspended till next update, sorry about that.
pimatstudio  [author] 16 Feb @ 2:47pm
New version is out! Here's what's new:

Ver 1.3.2
There is now a number shown near every smokable item in the modal menu BUT it will be ported to radial in a couple days!

In the options you can choose which type of information would you rather see - approximate (more realistic) or exact number (more convenient)

Chewing tobacco will finally be transferred from any container you have it in to the main inventory and used properly....

AND it will GO BACK to the container you took it from automatically! Still doing research to make it so for the lighters and different chews too

Finally added all the missing Polish translation lines
Ratamus 12 Feb @ 11:02pm
I like the radial menu, would work well with a controller too
pimatstudio  [author] 12 Feb @ 7:45pm
Sure, feedback is very welcome, indeed, and so far on a sample of 4 people , there seems to be a tie in the matter of radial vs modal .
Leftbones 12 Feb @ 6:25pm
Radial is my preference, thanks for acknowledging my comment too, I appreciate it!
pimatstudio  [author] 12 Feb @ 3:46pm
The strings for the dialogues and labels in modoptions were both in the incorrect places, sorry about that, I just swapped them into the correct positions, and I'm uploading a hotfix in a minute

edit: ...and one more quick hotfix - the dialogues were showing a placeholder value in place of correct dialogues, thanks for @Bilie Bones

let's hope this is the last one. I was wanting to deliver too rapidly, sorry for the errors.
pimatstudio  [author] 12 Feb @ 1:43pm
Yay, I'm happy that you find it useful :) Well, unpacking cigs is the current azimuth and it will make the mod hit ver 2.0, I'm hoping next week I'll deliver that!
Thanks for the support!
Dumbledood 12 Feb @ 1:02pm
Hey man, thanks for making this. Trying to find some mods to reduce the number of random actions one has to do all the time. Upvoted and subbed. Would be awesome if we could just hit v, select smoke, and it would unpack a cig, light it, and return everything to the backpack.
pimatstudio  [author] 12 Feb @ 12:56pm
Version 1.3.1 is out! Here's what's new:

- Added support for HGO Expansion - all the smokable items and the BBQ lighter
- Other than that every smokable from every other mod should now be added to my list automatically (you need to quit the game and load the save for the smokes to be added to the list)
- Added support for Mod Options - you can now set your own dialogues for when there's no lighter or cigarettes!
Billie Bones 10 Feb @ 11:46am
\m/ YOU ROCK \m/
pimatstudio  [author] 10 Feb @ 11:38am
@Billie Bones, aah, stooop, you're makin' me blush! (◕‿◕✿) but anyway, from the upcoming update onwards the mod will be detecting every smokable item on the client's side (so essentialy thtat means any mod you're ever gonna use will be supported)

I've been working full day to develop a good enough algorithm and when it finally detected 82 items from 82-items-long list that the dictionary-of-compatibility has grown to for these few weeks, that tells me it sure is good to go, but I still want to make it as light resource-wise as it could get, seeing it will roll on every new game :)

@Ratamus, thx!

@Leftbones the updated dialogues will be introduced in the upcoming update. Thanks for pointing that out, I kind of didn't give it any thought and left them as they were, but I think I agree with you, now come to think of it. The unpacking functionality is going to be rolled out in the following one if I don't crash into any obstacles. Until then, plz go with Ratamus' solution :)
Billie Bones 9 Feb @ 3:49pm
you've done so much awesomeness as it is i feel bad to post this , but heres another mod i hope your willing and able to add https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3424309174
Ratamus 9 Feb @ 12:29pm
@primatstudio It's called True Smoking :)
Torque 9 Feb @ 9:33am
Awesome, I added you.
pimatstudio  [author] 9 Feb @ 4:09am
@Torque, good news, I figured out how to enable the feature you requested (picking up and placing furniture), add me to friends so I can share this with you, because I'm not sure if I'll add that functionality to this mod, but I can tell you how to make it work (hotkey for picking up, pllacing, dismantling and so on...)

@Ratamus, oh, that's cool, can you give me the name of your mod?
Ratamus 9 Feb @ 3:45am
Nice mod, i added a hotkey to unpack and smoke in my mod but this is a way nicer feature
pimatstudio  [author] 8 Feb @ 6:11pm
And which do y'all like more, radial or modal menu?
pimatstudio  [author] 8 Feb @ 6:06pm
Sure, well, the dialogues are not mine, they are a leftover after the original mod , that I picked up after the original mod author seemingly abandoned the development and wasn't going to update it for B42 (BTW, big shoutout to Eggon!)

So I just built upon his mod, hard inspiration so to speak ;)

I get your point, and I will change them, no worries. Next version is coming in a few days maximum.
Leftbones 8 Feb @ 9:30am
Added a bug report to the thread, but I'd like to request an option to disable or change the dialogue for two reasons: the sarcastic "oi m8 where me ciggies" dialogue doesn't fit the vibe of the game OR the character I'm playing (breaks immersion), also using the word "fag" isn't cool, especially because it's in Kentucky where I guarantee you NOBODY calls them that.
pimatstudio  [author] 3 Feb @ 4:17pm
As the old saying coined by our ancestor goes... "Neccessity is the mother of QoL mods" after all, isn't it? ;D I'm just amazed how noone beat me to this earlier heh

Yea, radial menu is simply one level higher now :) and there used to be that mod.... SpiffUI radials I believe? I wonder if the radial API has ever been ported to B42. I'll see into it tommorow ;)
ansik 3 Feb @ 3:42pm
Highly needed mod, thanks!
One suggestion, instead of a dialog box a radial menu might look more polished?
pimatstudio  [author] 3 Feb @ 12:56pm
Ver 1.2 is OUT! Changes introduced:
(please report any bugs in appropriate discussion tab if you run into any)
- added missing functionality for cluvius smoking brand
- added missing smoking pipe weed functionality for the NnC mod
- added missing BBQlighter functionality
- fixed not being able to smoke/chew while walking
- added a padding for the last "close" button in order for it to stand out from the choice selection
- fixed wrong/missing indication/information for when the player has cigarettes but not unpacked (he had said that he did not have any earlier leading to confusion) or even no dialogue box at all (so user could assume the mod is not functioning at all)
- added missing polish translation lines
- commented out the debug console prints (de-littering)
- overall efficiency tweaks
- consistency amendments in descriptions/modinfo/github
pimatstudio  [author] 2 Feb @ 11:35am
@Torque
Can't promise anything but I'll keep it in mind :) noted it in my calendar ;)
Torque 2 Feb @ 11:01am
Thank you for this mod. Wondering if there is any chance when you have time to make another keybind mod for picking up, placing, dismantling furniture like from Eggons outdated mod?
pimatstudio  [author] 2 Feb @ 3:46am
Version 1.1 is out! Here's what changed:
- added two new items that appeared in 42.2.0 (I believe), these are:
+ glass smoking pipe with tobacco
+ can smoking pipe with tobacco

- added all the smokeable items from mods:
+ N&C's Narcotics
+ Hemp & Tobacco (this mod introduces one chew item too, added to chewing hotkey)

- added proper polish translation, the character now "speaks" polish when he doesn't have items in the inventory

- user can now unpack snus/chew from inside a container (i.e. backpack)
