If I may regarding the Spearfish troubles: I have run some tests against a barge carrier, sea state five, with two different settings set via the .ini files.

1st setting, unmodified from the mod: Spiral search at target location, does not detect barge carrier directly above it at any point.
2nd setting, search mode modified: Now does snake search, picks up barge carrier five nautical miles out, homes in with no issues, kills barge carrier with one hit. <.< >.>

Only the refit version gets (or should get) the Sonar 2076 which is an extremely modern (ie 2025) high end system. I can't find super accurate reliable info on its capabilities for obvious reasons but 120nm is I think a reasonable approximation.

Range (120nm) for the towed array, is that correct? It's 30-40nm everywhere else.

There are some problems with the torpedoes.Torpedoes will not float when attacking ships. The torpedo will remain at a depth of 282 ft.Spinning around the bottom of the boat

I've been unwell the last few weeks, it is on my to do list to work out what is going on!
Roytulin 27 Mar @ 7:50am
I've done a few rounds of testing between work, and unfortunately I cannot really get the Spearfish to change its behaviour beyond what I already described, other than some minor variation in running depth. I've tried various combinations of launching from different depths, launching at different targets, disabling NTU, and retaining or breaking wires.

Spearfish still not working against surface targets, same behaviour.

From the testing I've done so far (all fired from submerged 95ft, wire retained), here are the changes:
Spearfish fired without initial target cruises at 110ft, still dives when activated on a surface ship, but now remains above the layer (~315ft) and draws yellow seeker cones against surface ships instead of green. Still circles and repeatedly 'attacks' below the target, would have hit if it was near the surface.
Fired with surface target, still dives below the layer (~411ft) when launched, then climbs to ~333ft at ~2nm to target, climbs again to ~255ft at 0.7nm. Also circles beneath when in the attack. Seeker cone remains blue.
Can also confirm, works ok against subs, goes to 80kts and changes depth dynamically.
Will test more.

Uploaded a new seeker version, please give it a try and see if it is any better @Roytulin :)

That's helpful, thank you I'll take a look at the sensor

Did some additional testing, results:
This time I surfaced the boat before firing at surface targets, and then broke the wires. The cruise behaviour remain the same.
One fired with lock on target, again sharply dove below the layer (~430ft) to cruise, arrived and could not find target, executed a wide spiral search while varying between 37-2630ft
Another Spearfish fired at the sea in the vicinity of target, again this cruised at 9ft while it has no targets, but did the same as the other once it activated
During the test, neither torpedo could be heard emitting active.

I wish there was a Ohio Class mod

From testing they only do the 80 knot against submarines (I don’t know why, there shouldn’t be any difference). I have seen them miss a surface target but not in the way you describe. I’ll have a look maybe there’s a typo in the seeker code
Roytulin 13 Feb @ 10:18am
Hm I have the problem a little differently. Fired the Spearfish at some surface targets, but they keep diving below the layer when the torpedo acquires the target on active (seeker cone turns green), and then circle underneath the target. I have tried to launch them without targets and assigning them via mid-course correction with the same results. Also, they do not accelerate to 80 kts once locked on as described.

Hmmm, thats odd, they have worked ok in testing. They are wire guided so if they've lost the connection to the sub they can go off a bit. They do have spiral search pattern, but the seeker should pick most things up.

Great mod (as are all of yours), though I’m having trouble with the spearfish- they keep porpoising between the surface and 2500ft can’t seem to lock on to a target. Any help please?

Wooo! Thanks!

thank you

Thanks for the mod, Brother Munro
