@GhostFiveAlpha | CJ glad to hear you like it. Full disclosure, I now consider the mod complete. Connecting it up to different camo styles would be too much work for me.
GhostFiveAlpha | CJ 20 Apr @ 6:47am
Love this, would like to have the ability to use some other camo other than the default ones

Yeah those other portraits looked terrible

Ciaran_S Hey thanks for the praise! Especially on the doctrines, which I put a lot of love into.
Ciaran_S 7 Mar @ 4:32pm
When I first saw this mod I didn´t know what to think of it. It´s such an outlandish concept. But I tried it, and I really like it. Normally, I´m not too keen on the modern style of equipment, I usually like the 80s/90s retro look better, but with this mod, the modern style somehow fits really well. It´s also a fun team to play with, the doctrine tree feels well thought out.
Sleg 6 Mar @ 9:56am
Yep yep will do
Never Stop Giving Up  [author] 5 Mar @ 7:42am
@Sleg great, glad you're enjoying, please let me know if you find a bug or inconsistency. I was going to go after some of the descriptions next to root out the ones that clash with the theme a bit. Suggestions on this also welcome.
Sleg 4 Mar @ 8:23pm
Yep, that's precisely what I mean. The unit/squad built-in perks are a really neat way of making each squad (and role within the squad) feel more special.
Never Stop Giving Up  [author] 3 Mar @ 4:31pm
@Sleg Thanks for the feedback! When you say nobody is doing this yet, are you referring to the teams with different specialities? I haven't seen that indeed and thought it would really add flavour to this already stupidly good game.
Sleg 3 Mar @ 3:22pm
Wow. This is really interesting. No one else is really doing anything like this yet! There's a lot to unpack, but I really REALLY like all of the perk and doctrine stuff right now. I appreciate all of the steps you've taken to try to keep the Vanilla assets as undisturbed as possible, too, so thank you!

UPDATE: Apologies for the update that makes your old squad unplayable, you can revert to the older mod version if you don't find it to your liking, however, I think the new reworked squad is really worth it.
Never Stop Giving Up  [author] 28 Feb @ 2:07am
@Fr0gg00 I will absolutely help you out with this, but first I will configure the mod and take feedback to make it the best it can be, then I'll send you the mod files without the portraits. Won't take long to configure it differently.

@Mallear The strength of Gondor lies not in its wizardry, but in its might of arms
Never Stop Giving Up  [author] 28 Feb @ 2:03am
@Sleg I have removed the changes to the demo charges back to their original function as you have convinced me it messes up SWAT too much. The NGI squad now has a choice between 3x demo and 3x wall breach

Regarding the second point again: the "sword" section of doctrines is entirely focused on cqb, i've got my squad up to level 19 now with all cqb doctrines enabled and they are formidable. What I think I should do though is instantiate a custom close range fire mode for each weapon, that is in the works as I think it's cleaner overall

It's a preference of mine, I think quick clean shots at close range are much more tacticool than burst fire
Sleg 27 Feb @ 9:10pm
Duly noted on the explosives! I'll take your word for it--as I said, I don't think it's worth too much stress, simply because if you have a mod loaded, you should be using it in the first place (Besides co-op, I guess.) As for the second point, it's a simple concern of aim time. CIA's aimed fire is rather poor at close range, but I'll let you know when I've given it a better shot with more doctrines.

I really appreciate the quick responses, by the way!
Mallear 27 Feb @ 6:58pm
You sure were right about the didn't know i wanted part. Man this really makes me hope for some kind of tactical breach wizard mod.
Never Stop Giving Up  [author] 27 Feb @ 3:06pm
@Sleg modding explosives is a daunting task as when you create a new named instance you have to connect it to every single object is is supposed to be able to interact with. As far as I'm aware there is no specific class for this so it's not easily moddable. That is why. Trust me, if I knew how to do it without causing an awful lot of bugs I would

On your second message, could you expand on the "aimed fire" bit? I conceived this faction to focus less on rapid fire but configured the doctrines to improve aim times and crit kills as the squad progresses. But I would ask you to expand on your point and I'll see what I can do about it
Never Stop Giving Up  [author] 27 Feb @ 3:05pm
@Tal'Raziid Both mods change path colours. I just tried it out, all it does is remove both and revert to vanilla path colours it looks like.
Never Stop Giving Up  [author] 27 Feb @ 2:57pm
@jonexhd I find the MK17s ugly, but still wanted a 7.62 rifle to use, so I went with a classic AR15 design innit
Tal'Raziid 27 Feb @ 2:14pm
This flags a conflict wiht PanGUI, any idea what thats about?
Fr0gg00 27 Feb @ 11:59am
Also I'd love another mod like this that is not LOTR themed X3 Love your stuff but lotr isnt up my alley so its odd
Fr0gg00 27 Feb @ 11:56am
I'd appreciate that! Only if its quick tho, don't wanna take up too much of your time
Sleg 27 Feb @ 8:44am
yeah, it looks like it uses CIA's aimed fire, without having a doctrine to enable proper burst/full auto, which is not great!
jonexhd 27 Feb @ 8:29am
Besides, that .300 rifle shoots extremely slow even in very close range. No full auto even when the enemy is very close.
Sleg 27 Feb @ 8:26am
With all due respect to the effort of putting this together, I don't know if I'd especially describe crippling Sappers as respectful to base game balancing or compatibility...
Really, while it's not a world-ending problem since if you have a mod loaded you *should* be playing that mod, at the same time, I'd still prefer if there didn't end up being wrinkles like that.

I'll give this some time and better feedback soon, though.
jonexhd 27 Feb @ 8:11am
And I'd be really appreciated if you can work something out to, you know, split things out.
jonexhd 27 Feb @ 8:10am
Everything else looks fine, but why is MK17 SCAR looks like an AR15?
Never Stop Giving Up  [author] 26 Feb @ 8:21pm
@knot I've added the changelist under CAUTION for your perusal. No changes made by the mod are permanent of course. Should be quite compatible with other mods as It doesn't overwrite any base game XMLs apart from path colours.
knot 26 Feb @ 7:32pm
You mention that changes made to the base equipment is minimal, so what *has* been changed? Mostly asking out of a compatibility/balance concern, as I have quite a few others mods, some of which also use vanilla equipment. The mod does look very cool, but I want to get all the info in order before trying it out just in case
Never Stop Giving Up  [author] 26 Feb @ 1:56pm
@Fr0gg00 I could give you instructions on how to replace the portraits with the vanilla ones if you want, I understand it will not be to everybody's taste. I personally have a nostalgic connection to these portraits as I have used them in earlier various game designs as templates
Never Stop Giving Up  [author] 26 Feb @ 1:56pm
@jonexhd Thanks!
Never Stop Giving Up  [author] 26 Feb @ 1:54pm
@✠ DFSpecter I understand the bamboozlement. I have an interest in Tolkien's world and military/Special forces stuff, and somehow this is the way I can best enjoy the game and get most invested in the characters. In particular there is something about the nobility of Gondor as represented in the LOTR books that moves me deeply. It's always a theme with me. I once made a Star wars: Empire at War mod that featured Gondor captains and ship names and stuff. Eh, the world is a big place with weird ideas and stuff. Glad it's not unwelcome anyway =)
✠ DFSpecter 26 Feb @ 9:54am
I am genuinely bamboozled and don't know how to react. On one hand, it's a pretty entertaining idea. On the other.... how did you come up with this idea???

It's in general jarring. Not unwelcome, just jarring and unexpected.
Fr0gg00 26 Feb @ 9:24am
Dude please change the portraits they are so bad-
jonexhd 26 Feb @ 8:17am
Great!
