@NukerMunky - Thanks for kind words, I am glad you are enjoying it!

I won’t be supporting other mods since I’m really busy right now; but I’m happy to help show you how to make a similar version for that mod on the Egosoft discord.

Hey man, just wanted to say i honestly think this may be the lowkey best mod available for X4 right now.

I will NEVER be able to play without it again. That said however brings me to the story of another enterprising hero.

Another Legend (who's name eludes me, atm) made a "realistic FLaK effect" mod, that alters both the visuals of the rounds, and the explosions they create, but also changes them to sound more like WW2-stylized FLaK "pops".

TL;DR: Homie, you've ruined me forever, the game just sounds outright bad without your mod, but another one of you modding legends made a dope flak mod, and i was wondering if you would be wiling to give his mod the "Deep Impact" treatment and release a patch for it so my space battle soundscape stays contiguous.

Please man, i'm begging you! :c
lol, really do love the mods though, btw. All jokes aside, your two "Deep" mods are an absolute must-have for EVERYONE.

@Th-233 - Sure, I can take a look. Thanks!
Th-233 21 Mar @ 9:10pm
any chance you can lower the friend/foe mines in silent witness? thanks for the awesome mod.
shadowed  [author] 17 Mar @ 11:33am
No problem! Thanks for any bug reports!
LeonserGT 17 Mar @ 10:02am
Thx for a quick fix 😊
shadowed  [author] 17 Mar @ 9:15am
It is wpn_beam_gen_stopshooting.wav, I will be fixing it. I did rework the sound effect, but I missed adding it to the sound_library.xml for the player's weapons.
shadowed  [author] 17 Mar @ 8:50am
@Leonser - Thanks for letting me know I will take a look to see if I can find those sound effects! If you find the sound id's feel free to post them!
LeonserGT 17 Mar @ 8:44am
Hey man, beams (main gun ones) mk2 have very loud stacking cooling off effect that I dont think you edited, the firing itself is properly muffled, but the moment you release the button there's this "disengage" sound that sounds like inside of the cockpit, and just how with all other guns in vanilla, if you stack 4+ of those, their sounds overlap and become SUPER DAMN LOUD, which you fixed in 99% of other cases, so you might wanna look into that too...
Gonna replace them anyway for something better 👀
shadowed  [author] 16 Mar @ 3:12pm
@Kligan - Thanks for letting me know where that is. I can take a look and see if I missed a file.
shadowed  [author] 16 Mar @ 3:12pm
@Kligan - Not an issue for me since this mod is intended to combined with Deep Thrust. I recommend combining both mods.
Kligan 16 Mar @ 3:11pm
I did install Deep Thrust as well, but when I was doing the story mission of "Emergence" start, I had to wait while the explorer expedition flies over, so I switched my camera to watch their capital ship, and it was VERY loud.
Kligan 16 Mar @ 2:45pm
@shadowed The main issue is, when SFX set to 100 and I toggle camera to look at some distant object, say a capital ship - their engines are loud af. So the end result is - quiet sounds in cockpit, and very loud sounds when using orbiting camera on something else.
But, as I said, I love the idea of the mod. It really does sound nice - I was not a fan of sqeeky *pewpewpew* sounds of guns in this game. So when they are muffled - it's much better. I just wish the overall audio balance could be adjusted as well somehow.
Oh, well...
LeonserGT 16 Mar @ 1:52pm
This is so relatable. I already made & altered a bunch of mods for myself, probably should start publishing them, although I'm not sure how long Mass Effect combat music replacer will live before being copyright-struck 👀
shadowed  [author] 16 Mar @ 1:48pm
@LeonserGT - I can't disagree...

I'm really happy with how the game sounds right now so I am not in any rush to fix this. I made this mod for myself so I can play the game without being annoyed at the terrible Effects sfx.

The other sound effects (UI, Ambient, Voice) are fine to turn down to ~60-70% and match well.

It is really easy to introduce audio popping artifacts by just increasing the volume. I can do a rework in the future but for now I want to enjoy playing the game.
LeonserGT 16 Mar @ 12:59pm
Uh-oh, the fact you have to lower all other volumes and keep only effects at 100 already means thats not right... can't you just add volume in the xmls or that would add more artifacts?
shadowed  [author] 16 Mar @ 9:53am
@Kligan - I use both of these sound mods at 100 effects volume and lower the other settings (voice, ui, music).

I will need to do a big rework of the sound files to make them louder without adding more audio artifacts.
Kligan 16 Mar @ 5:23am
Hi! Is it possible to make the sounds just a bit louder? I like the concept, but I feel like it's WAY too quiet. I can barely hear my guns shooting.
shadowed  [author] 15 Mar @ 1:14pm
@LeonserGT - The sound names are awful lol. I also forgot you can also download the archived previous update of this mod on NexusMods which should be easier to do!
LeonserGT 15 Mar @ 1:12pm
Hah, you see - completely unintuitive name xD
Also, I keep forgetting checklog in steam workshop exists...
shadowed  [author] 15 Mar @ 1:06pm
@LeonserGT - I can take a look at reworking them again. I am quite happy with how they sound but maybe I can make a mod just for those sfx in the future.

I posted the the id's in the changelog (since I will forget too) but they are also the latest entries in the top of sound_library.xml. I believe you are after 'scfx_result_bad_01' and so on.
LeonserGT 15 Mar @ 12:28pm
Maybe then don't muffle them? Rework, but make them sound as if inside the cockpit (as they clearly are)
Yeah, I'm aware of how to tweak things, mind actually sharing ids for those exact sounds? 👀
shadowed  [author] 15 Mar @ 11:12am
@LeonserGT - Haha sorry you don't like those changes. I plan on doing a few more sensor sound effects too! I am a big fan of the quieter pings.

I find those scan sounds really annoying after a few years and if I find a sound effect annoying in X4; it gets reworked.

To fix this yourself, download X Tools and use xrwsunpack.exe to unpack the workshop mod and then use XRCatToolGUI.exe to extract it. If you use the nexusmods version, you can extract it directly with XRCatToolGUI.exe.

In DeepImpact/libraries/sound_library.xml remove the entries for the sound effects you want restored.
LeonserGT 15 Mar @ 6:47am
Hey, could you please remove long range sensor muffle? Ok maybe the wave itself might be, but all other sounds like pings are supposed to come from your onboard computer, not an outside world 👀
shadowed  [author] 8 Mar @ 6:42pm
@Dmformom - Yes - any mod that uses default sound_library.xml entries.
Dmformom 8 Mar @ 6:09pm
is this compatible with other mods?
LeonserGT 7 Mar @ 2:42am
I gave it a go and I'm happy, it makes shots and impacts muffled in a realistic way how it should be in space, makes it immersive. Maybe later I could record a demo to showcase the sounds
Archaon 5 Mar @ 6:50pm
Would be nice if there was a video or something that let someone hear the changes before downloading.
LeonserGT 4 Mar @ 11:36pm
Sound improvements? Count me right in!
hardy 4 Mar @ 3:48pm
I like it - game feels way more immersive with these sounds
