There is no attack to cancel. There is no enemy nearby. They are just out on patrol and Boom.
What's causing "action complete, awaiting new orders". You have to cancel the prior attack order before recall the gun frigate.It happens when you attack enemy with naval monitoring station. The frigate set out to attack. Next second it lost the target, and it stop on the spot. If you click recall frigate at the naval monitoring station. The gun frigate will return to station but at the same time set out to attack. To solve this problem, you must cancel the first order(attack) before you recall them.
No other mods activated.

Auto engage- both on and off.
I also have the fore mentioned "action complete, awaiting new orders" message. No enemy is close enough to activate the auto engage for either problem.
so the tank will stop dead or explode

making the AI not attack anyone they seem to be blowing up the new division units them self please fix
if you open radar with a ally you will see for yourself
I sort have gotten around this by going into the units txt file and adding the "Army Division" (which is the main battle tank unit) to the Heavy Armored Division. Also I figured out why my units self destruct (apparently when their range hits 0 they blow up which doesn't make much sense for ground units). Not sure why the ground units that are individual units that aren't entrenched blow up though at the start of a scenario.
Combats and Honks adds MPA and Naval Airbase, while in my mod adds MPA and lots of others things. Maybe it's compatible,but I have not tested it.

but MPA is about naval patrol and ASW. it would be little use deployed on land airport.
do you use other mods?
can you post information in fatal.txt(in mygames/icbm folder.
did you load the mod successfully but crash when infantry units produced in the game?
can you post the fatal.txt in your My Games\ICBM-Escalation folder?
