@agent_blablabla, I'm so sorry for not responding sooner. I can't find "agent_blablabla" or similarly named users on Discord. Finding people on the Discord phone app is hard; I often use the web browser version on my laptop. If you go to Discord.com , there should be a way to log in. Then in the Direct Messages tab/server (top left option), click "Find or start a conversation" and enter @TheLazyCowboy1.
If you have trouble doing that, please just create a Discussion here on this mod page and copy/paste your mod code so far.
agent_blablabla 23 Jul @ 4:36pm
Actually I already made an account on my phone (Discord won't download on my laptop for some reason :rwslugcatdead:), same username as my Steam. I think my problem is getting the mod to load, because right now I just have a couple of debug.log messages.

I have no idea how to use Discord so can you please find me if you're still interested in helping me?

@agent_blablabla, Both the official Rain World server and the Rain World Modding Server have great modding support. Even the best modders need help sometimes. I rarely use Discord myself, but it's convenient to have in case I need to discuss something with another modder. I'd recommend Discord; but again, feel free to open a discussion here if you don't want to bother making a Discord account.
agent_blablabla 20 Jul @ 2:29pm
I don't have Discord but I've been thinking about getting it, so what would you prefer?
TheLazyCowboy1  [author] 20 Jul @ 8:35am
@agent_blablabla, If you have Discord, you can contact me there (@TheLazyCowboy1) and I can try to help you. If you don't have Discord, you can try making a Steam discussion here and show your code and I can probably figure out how to fix it.

I wanted to do something simple first.

I wanted to make scavengers recognize tamed lizards.

I CAN'T EVEN GET IT TO MAKE SOME DEBUG MESSAGES
agent_blablabla 5 Jul @ 5:43pm
Nice, thanks!
Once I finally get my first hook to work (It might work and just isn't doing anything, I wanted to make it do something ridiculous before I did anything real), I'll make a relatively simple mod I have planned (Tired of friendly scavengers impaling your pet lizards? Get Reputation+, as soon as I get to making it!), then perhaps I'll get to work on making the Envoy. I'll probably have the effects of your mod as an optional setting to make it more difficult.
TheLazyCowboy1  [author] 4 Jul @ 9:23pm
@agent_blablabla, Yes, that is possible. It's not commonly done, and it's slightly more annoying than it ought to be. However, it'd probably be better for you if you just copy/borrow/steal my code for this mod and include it in yours. In fact, this pretty simple mod might be a good template for a first mod. Having your own code would make it easy for you to make tweaks specifically for your custom slugcat (e.g: add a line to make it especially afraid of spiders or something), which would be awesome.

Chimney Canopy (and the echo there) was literally what inspired this mod to be made. My controller was glitching out in Chimney, and it fit so well I thought it was intentional game design.
agent_blablabla 4 Jul @ 8:07pm
Also, I've been wanting to do modding (and I know C# because I'm am indee game dev), although I've been wondering if it's possible to optionally include another mod. For example, I have a slugcat idea and most of the effects of this mod would be pretty fitting for them. Could add my slugcat to the game, and make it OPTIONALLY access this mod?
agent_blablabla 4 Jul @ 7:26pm
Oh, OK. I hadn't installed the mod yet and I think that the screenshot I thought I saw seemed like it just had a bunch of bools for each of the slugcats.

I'm actually relatively new to actually playing the game, and in my first Survivor run (I tried Monk once and found him harder despite being the "easy" mode) and I recently made it to Chimney Canopy. There's so many lizards now it's insane, I have a pretty good reputation with the scavengers yet they're still scared to death of me. One time I was just peacefully eating batflies, and an elite scav just walked up to me, panicked for a moment, calmed down, put an explosive spear in my chest, and ran away scared.

I've been trying to get to the echo and get out of here, but I keep either getting jumpscared by lizards or falling into unfair instant death pits.

I have since installed "Logical Pits."

With how I feel while Chimney Canopying I think this mod will be (other than the spasms) perfect.
TheLazyCowboy1  [author] 4 Jul @ 4:52pm
@agent_blablabla, You can disable the forced inputs in the config menu for the mod. I would recommend something like setting the maximum intensity to 0.8 or something like that.
agent_blablabla 4 Jul @ 3:37pm
I kind of want all of this except for the forced inputs.

I won't be able to keep Chimney Canopying with this. (I don't have watcher but I can use it for Surv)

@piper-kate, I believe so, although I haven't thoroughly tested it. At least it seems not to break.

I'd be surprised if it doesn't work.
piper-kate 2 Jul @ 6:23pm
does this work in arena at all
TheLazyCowboy1  [author] 28 Jun @ 10:00am
@SecretlySomeLightbulb, All of that would be pretty cool, yeah. The only issue is where to limit the scope. If I add options to be scared of spiders, why not centipedes as well? Scared of heights; why not oceans? Etc.

The visual effect would be really cool, but it'd not be super easy to implement, and it would probably take a ton of tuning to feel right. I'll spend my time fixing my broken mods before I add something like this.
SecretlySomeLightbulb 27 Jun @ 1:01pm
i also think a sorta visual effect like hunters sickness / ripple amoeba damage would be cool for whenever watcher feels especially freaked out
SecretlySomeLightbulb 27 Jun @ 12:43pm
do you think youd be able to add phobia options? like you can set it so scugs can have phobias too like spiders, dark, height, blood (ig injured creatures in that case) i think thatd be really cool
miraclewillow1 27 Jun @ 12:46am
seeing the thumbnail in updated mods list made me chuckle
TheLazyCowboy1  [author] 26 Jun @ 3:01pm
@Archer6676, Hopefully the issue will no longer break this mod at least; I just pushed a tiny patch for it. I haven't actually bothered to test it with Nightstriker yet, though.
RustyLeaves 26 Jun @ 12:51pm
can you add schizophrenia now
Archer6676 22 Jun @ 4:35pm
guess i missed that nightstriker was on
TheLazyCowboy1  [author] 22 Jun @ 1:49pm
@Arcger6676, Clearly this mod is incompatible with The Nightmare custom slugcat. I should probably improve the try/catches so this kind of error at least doesn't break THIS mod, but...

...man, why on earth does The Nightmare have to use such a horrible ID.
FlakeFlare 20 Jun @ 5:27pm
I guess I forgot about the art, looks good though

There was no threat music playing when the overseer was there, and it started when i was in a shelter but survivor kept trying to run away from the overseer when it appeared and was hyper ventilating and everything so it was the overseer cant imagine how it had an issue though
the local yeek 18 Jun @ 9:42am
this got art now yay!!!!
lol nvm i just read the update LOL
Will you make this for slugcats outside of watcher?
Scav_49238 18 Jun @ 3:24am
ohh this got a thumbnail now, nice
TheLazyCowboy1  [author] 17 Jun @ 6:58pm
@IamMael, Yeah, I thought the thumbnail submissions were pretty good! Much better than I could have done on my own.
IamMael 17 Jun @ 6:53pm
new thumbnail update looks nice
TheLazyCowboy1  [author] 15 Jun @ 8:09am
@TheDestroyer, Huh, that's probably a bug, because overseers aren't coded to cause fright. Was there any threat music playing?
SpydrrCola 15 Jun @ 6:56am
@TheLazyCowboy1 sent ARARARR
TheDestroyer 15 Jun @ 6:21am
Can you stop iggy or overseers triggering the random inputs? I was playing monk with this mod and they kept running around the room due to iggy
TheLazyCowboy1  [author] 13 Jun @ 7:07pm
@SpydrrCola, Do you have a Discord? I'm TheLazyCowboy1 there as well. Or are you able to upload it as artwork on Steam, and link it here?
SpydrrCola 13 Jun @ 3:13pm
HIII HELLO I JUST MADE A STUPID THUMBNAIL
EdEnStonne 11 Jun @ 8:16am
I already do that naturally 🙏
TheLazyCowboy1  [author] 23 May @ 7:10pm
@FlakeFlare, If YOU want to draw a thumbnail (and it's appropriate for the mod and for any who might use it), go ahead! Even if you want to make it just a 10-minute doodle for fun, I'll probably make it the thumbnail. But only do it if you want to do it for your own fun.

@RandomReshiram, The easiest option would be to have a single checkbox like "enable slugcat-specific modifiers" and simply have all the slugcat-specific fears be hard-coded. But that would be annoying. I'm actually concerned about scope creep even for a mod as tiny as this.
FlakeFlare 23 May @ 5:17pm
This mod is amazing! I could draw a thumbnail if you want :> (for free)
RandomReshiram 23 May @ 4:37pm
maybe you could just make it a toggleable thing whether or not each slugcat has unique stronger/weaker fear to certain things. Dunno if that'd be any easier to program though...
If it helps at all I have actually been brainstorming what these variations in fear would be for each slugcat based on speculation and lore, just for fun, which I could share!
TheLazyCowboy1  [author] 22 May @ 12:11pm
@RandomReshiram, Yeah, that might be cool to do, but I am especially concerned about the "configurable" part: Just making such things configurable per slugcat would be more work than the behaviors themselves. This mod was originally intended just for Watcher, and while I'm happy to make it apply to other slugcats if folks want, it's a lot of extra work to fine-tune it per slugcat.
RandomReshiram 22 May @ 8:59am
Jokes aside, I think certain slugcats should have a configurable ability to have a higher fear response to certain things. For instance, saint is probably not very scared of echoes, but artificer might be very scared of them. Would be cool!
RandomReshiram 22 May @ 7:03am
The watcher gets ptsd after watching his family get murdered simulator
TheLazyCowboy1  [author] 18 May @ 8:50am
@l.lplaysgames2, Hmm, that would make sense, yeah. Like just double the pup's bravery temporarily when it's being held.
two golden wheels 18 May @ 7:00am
please make it so that holding slugpups make them get scared less
Goodpuffer 13 May @ 4:42pm
its causing me to not be capable of using it
Goodpuffer 13 May @ 4:42pm
claims that uhh, theres a diver thingy? that has to do something w the letters or whatnot
???? 11 May @ 2:29pm
Heh, this mod really makes you feel like you're pushing past your fears when you help lizard friend(s) from predators, just as they do for you! :D
Simple mods like these tend to make for the best mods imo!
theDispatcher 8 May @ 6:08am
if i remember correctly there were at least 1 or 2 broadcasts that mention him
