Rob is correct i will not be maintaining this, i only uploaded to archive it
if you want faster loading then use https://github.com/Taranchuk/FasterGameLoading
sybau lmao
Rob The Robot Guard 16 Jul @ 5:29am
@zimbtem

No we do not need 1.6

Better loading is known to cause serious issues with many larger mods due to how Better loading modify's Rimworld's normal loading procedure. Better loading should be avoided at all costs unless you want your game to have errors that you wont understand.

Also the "Re-uploader" is not going to maintain this upload as stated on the mod page and frankly i am unsure if their even able too. Code that's been outdated for several game versions is not easy to maintain and update and besides there are better ways to improve loading.

If you want Rimworld to load faster i suggest installing the game to your main system drive (The C drive) and also use a smaller mod list if possible along with removing mods that have heavy performance impacts.
Also pro tip don't be impatient with Rimworld's loading and give it time to fully boot up Depending on your modpack Rimworld can load either in 1 minute or 15 minutes
zimbtem 16 Jul @ 5:06am
we need 1.6 this mod
Rob The Robot Guard 14 Jul @ 7:43am
@Dewa
Better loading is the issue the other mod thats causing better loading not to load is working normally. Better loading is main cause of the issue
Dewa 14 Jul @ 7:31am
This mod breaks my game for some reason, the game just doesn't load at all with it enabled

will update my findings to see if it's a mod conflict
keriefie 13 Jul @ 7:12am
While the loading is faster, this mod is still useful as loading is not instant, and its nice to know whether its still loading or if it got stuck
Deepfield 10 Jul @ 10:49pm
@MarximusMaximus watch your RAM usage while starting. i've seen it go into 25gb loading my medium mod list in 1.6.
MarximusMaximus 6 Jul @ 9:07pm
With lots of mods, I still find 1.6 to get to that point where windows thinks it's no longer responding. In that situation, I would still find this mod useful.
Snail🐌 6 Jul @ 5:00pm
Mod has been broken for a good while according to the original creator of the mod, do not use
DIMASA 19 Jun @ 9:48am
this mod was so reassuring, i think i never had a problem with it, ggs, it was really cool while it lasted,1.6 here we gooo!
Rob The Robot Guard 19 Jun @ 9:32am
@AnotherAlex
No. 1.6 does not have a loading bar.
AnotherAlex 19 Jun @ 9:09am
will 1.6 have a loading bar??
Rob The Robot Guard 17 Jun @ 7:28am
The bar is part of the issue the core of the issue was the game not freezing as its normally supposed to do while loading. By preventing the game from loading as its normally does it can break certain mods
Deggial 17 Jun @ 7:25am
@ Rob The Robot Guard
"Showing the bar" is what caused some mods to completely break.

Oh.
OH!
I didn't expect *this*, honestly.

Well, then forget the bar.
It was nice while it lasted ... ;)
Rob The Robot Guard 17 Jun @ 7:13am
@Deggial
"Showing the bar" is what caused some mods to completely break. The fact the game does not freeze is what caused the issues in the first place. Mod devs don't support niche mods that few people use.

I will agree that watching the loading bar provided some entertainment and gave a level of reassurance that the game is loading properly. But the baggage it brings with it is something that i want to avoid. Just to note i have not used better loading since at least 1.3/1.4.

1.6 making the base game take very little time to load makes it clear to me that with a large mod pack i imagine load times will be significantly faster.
Deggial 17 Jun @ 6:39am
I agree with DuckGoosebear.
For me, it was the visual confirmation that 'something was moving' and how far along the loading process I was that made this mod valuable.
It's very reassuring to know that the game didn't freeze while loading.

Maybe adapt the mod to just show the bar for the sake of it?
only 5 seconds gonna be amazing, but I'd like to see 1.6 times with mods too.
Better Loading might not have made things take less time to load, but it was more fun to see the loading process even tho it took the same time.
Rob The Robot Guard 11 Jun @ 4:42pm
Better loading never increased loading times in the first place the preceaved differences are pure placebo. The lack of freezing is what i imagine is making people think it takes less time to load.
󠀡󠀡  [author] 11 Jun @ 4:38pm
So i say this mod will not be needed on 1.6 i will not be updating it but be leave it up for people whom use older versions
󠀡󠀡  [author] 11 Jun @ 4:30pm
Maybe Rob is onto something

"We significantly reduced game launch times in version 1.6! For example, on our development machines version 1.5 previously launched in 18.57s with all expansions. Now version 1.6 launches in 4.66s - and that's with an additional expansion!"
Rob The Robot Guard 10 Jun @ 3:45am
There’s no other theories to talk about better loading could become base game but it’s up in the air
@Rob The Robot Guard
I would like to hear more about these "theories".
So the mod author works at Ludeon and gonna make this loading vanilla now?
DELE 9 Jun @ 1:56am
I think the better loading has some errors in the ratkin. The body simply disappears.
Fluffy Tails 7 Jun @ 7:33pm
@Valjamin , I believe it hitched on loading textures from memory
Valjamin 6 Jun @ 1:06am
I'm trying to understand more about how exactly this hijacking of the loading process can cause problems. Your previous comments to others only emphasize that it is known to cause serious issues, but give almost no real details beyond that emphasis. That may be helpful enough for some people, but it's not enough for everybody.
Valjamin 6 Jun @ 1:03am
@Rob The Robot Guard

Perhaps the speed up in loading time is a placebo for most people's circumstances, but it wasn't for me. In fact, according to Startup Impact, BetterLoading actually more than doubled my loading speed due to the lack of freezing. (Note, I also only have a little less than 140 mods, among which the majority are minor tweaks. Thus, I may simply not have enough complex mods for this to cause problems for me.)

However, if i'm understanding this correctly, is the real potential problem the fact that most mods are not meant to be loaded in this "lack of freezing" loading method, so in more complex mods certain components and such fail to load at all, thus causing potential issues? Or is the problem perhaps that the loading method makes it harder for mods to remain compatible with each other?
Rob The Robot Guard 3 Jun @ 5:11pm
@Squaul

Better loading within the deeper parts of the modding community is known to cause serious game breaking issues with many mods.

To quote “Better Loading Hijacks the loading process in order to display the loading bar and prevent the game from freezing, causing a large amount of conflicts for complex mods”. This quote is from the “ Noob Friendly Performance Mod List “. In the pinned post on the tech support forum on the Rimworld discord there’s an image showing a list of mods that are known to cause issues. Better loading is listed. (The post was created in 2022)

It’s not just me it’s many others saying the same thing.
Squaul 3 Jun @ 3:09pm
A mod list of 800 is wicked holy i wish i could too :(

I think tho it's just some weird bias effect when people say this mod break things...

Tho maybe because it's not up to date now maybe it does, but no way that in that in the past it caused problems such problems while not getting addressed too...
Squaul 3 Jun @ 3:03pm
How is this mod breaking things ? Never had issues and it's a loading screen like what ?

The author even fixed a small perf issues a long time ago...

Also yeah wtf i come back i saw that bs why the mod is gone !? samboy what's going on ?
Rob The Robot Guard 27 May @ 12:49pm
@The Creed

Better loading may make the game seem as its loading without freezeing.

And without it, even if the game freezes. The game is still loading in the background.
Just wait for the game to load. It will load eventually.

And or deflate your modpack by removing lots of mods that you don't need.
Or have a fast enough system to load a massive modpack.

You should never have more then 300 mods unless you know what your doing and or you have a fast enough system to handle it.

PLEASE STOP USING BETTER LOADING IT CAUSES SERIOUS ISSUES AND WILL BREAK LOTS OF MODS.
sormly500 26 May @ 8:28am
does anyone know any other mod that simply adds a loading screen? this mod broke some of the race mods i want to play with
Psychopatz 18 May @ 4:24pm
This was one of my favorite debugging mod but sadly it broke my game nowadays
󠀡󠀡  [author] 15 May @ 10:43pm
yes it is
magick 15 May @ 10:13pm
Compatible with Prepatcher?
The Creed 12 May @ 8:18pm
you say that rob but i cant even launch the game without the game crashing unless i have better loading installed.

how do you figure that happining?
Deankiller Turnupseed 12 May @ 7:19pm
i always had issues when playing with this back then. on the other hand, the issues are there without too so maybe my bloat fetish is the problem
N16H7M4RE 28 Apr @ 9:05pm
I never had many issues with the original version. This one caused some issues, but...... allowed me to remove from my "enabled" modlist. Thank you!
Kokorocodon 27 Apr @ 12:05pm
the best rimworld loading screen is Alt+Tab
Zero 25 Apr @ 10:06am
Is there another mod that at least adds some more "movement" to the loading screen? it hurts me to not be able to see the loading progress, even just code and plain text would be nice
NickSh2022 25 Apr @ 12:36am
Спасибо большое, теперь у меня во время загрузки не зависает римворлд т.к ему надо обновлять эту полоску :steamhappy::winterpenguin2023::Rivals::steamthis:
Argyuile 19 Apr @ 8:01pm
Thanks you this vanished and I needed it
Rob The Robot Guard 19 Apr @ 5:08am
@MadTech

If it works for you that’s fine but if anything seriously breaks always remove better loading first

Also the speed up is more of placebo since when loading with better loading the game does not freeze at all while in the base game it will always freeze

Also running 800+ mods is a bad idea. I pray for your game performance. I recommend compressing that mod list down by at least 50%
MadTech 19 Apr @ 2:32am
I have never had any issues when using this mod. It's always been a great help in speeding up the loading of my 800+ mod list
󠀡󠀡  [author] 16 Apr @ 6:09pm
Better loading for 1.6 hopefully
a lot of people are saying it causes issues though i haven't had anything but it doesn't mean that there are no issues i will put a disclaimer in the description
Rob The Robot Guard 16 Apr @ 3:04pm
@Highwayman
BetterLoading is well known to cause serious issues due to it modifying how the game/mods are loaded.

Its generally advised not to use this mod due to such issues.

also its removal from the workshop was probably because the creator did not maintain it and the creator who made the mod now works for Ludeon Studios and there are theories that it was removed for public image reasons.
Dan 16 Apr @ 5:26am
Oh my god I thought I went crazy when I couldn't find it anymore, thank you so much!
󠀡󠀡  [author] 15 Apr @ 3:40pm
no idea just ghost deleted the mod i just hope me upload this helped fix peoples mod lists
