I RECOMMEND USING THESE MODS TO DO WHAT THIS MOD DOES FOR 1.5
Loads the game faster
https://github.com/Taranchuk/FasterGameLoading
Adds a loading Bar
https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3535481557
if you want faster loading then use https://github.com/Taranchuk/FasterGameLoading
No we do not need 1.6
Better loading is known to cause serious issues with many larger mods due to how Better loading modify's Rimworld's normal loading procedure. Better loading should be avoided at all costs unless you want your game to have errors that you wont understand.
Also the "Re-uploader" is not going to maintain this upload as stated on the mod page and frankly i am unsure if their even able too. Code that's been outdated for several game versions is not easy to maintain and update and besides there are better ways to improve loading.
If you want Rimworld to load faster i suggest installing the game to your main system drive (The C drive) and also use a smaller mod list if possible along with removing mods that have heavy performance impacts.
Also pro tip don't be impatient with Rimworld's loading and give it time to fully boot up Depending on your modpack Rimworld can load either in 1 minute or 15 minutes
Better loading is the issue the other mod thats causing better loading not to load is working normally. Better loading is main cause of the issue
will update my findings to see if it's a mod conflict
No. 1.6 does not have a loading bar.
"Showing the bar" is what caused some mods to completely break.
Oh.
OH!
I didn't expect *this*, honestly.
Well, then forget the bar.
It was nice while it lasted ... ;)
"Showing the bar" is what caused some mods to completely break. The fact the game does not freeze is what caused the issues in the first place. Mod devs don't support niche mods that few people use.
I will agree that watching the loading bar provided some entertainment and gave a level of reassurance that the game is loading properly. But the baggage it brings with it is something that i want to avoid. Just to note i have not used better loading since at least 1.3/1.4.
1.6 making the base game take very little time to load makes it clear to me that with a large mod pack i imagine load times will be significantly faster.
For me, it was the visual confirmation that 'something was moving' and how far along the loading process I was that made this mod valuable.
It's very reassuring to know that the game didn't freeze while loading.
Maybe adapt the mod to just show the bar for the sake of it?
Better Loading might not have made things take less time to load, but it was more fun to see the loading process even tho it took the same time.
"We significantly reduced game launch times in version 1.6! For example, on our development machines version 1.5 previously launched in 18.57s with all expansions. Now version 1.6 launches in 4.66s - and that's with an additional expansion!"
I would like to hear more about these "theories".
So the mod author works at Ludeon and gonna make this loading vanilla now?
Perhaps the speed up in loading time is a placebo for most people's circumstances, but it wasn't for me. In fact, according to Startup Impact, BetterLoading actually more than doubled my loading speed due to the lack of freezing. (Note, I also only have a little less than 140 mods, among which the majority are minor tweaks. Thus, I may simply not have enough complex mods for this to cause problems for me.)
However, if i'm understanding this correctly, is the real potential problem the fact that most mods are not meant to be loaded in this "lack of freezing" loading method, so in more complex mods certain components and such fail to load at all, thus causing potential issues? Or is the problem perhaps that the loading method makes it harder for mods to remain compatible with each other?
Better loading within the deeper parts of the modding community is known to cause serious game breaking issues with many mods.
To quote “Better Loading Hijacks the loading process in order to display the loading bar and prevent the game from freezing, causing a large amount of conflicts for complex mods”. This quote is from the “ Noob Friendly Performance Mod List “. In the pinned post on the tech support forum on the Rimworld discord there’s an image showing a list of mods that are known to cause issues. Better loading is listed. (The post was created in 2022)
It’s not just me it’s many others saying the same thing.
I think tho it's just some weird bias effect when people say this mod break things...
Tho maybe because it's not up to date now maybe it does, but no way that in that in the past it caused problems such problems while not getting addressed too...
The author even fixed a small perf issues a long time ago...
Also yeah wtf i come back i saw that bs why the mod is gone !? samboy what's going on ?
Better loading may make the game seem as its loading without freezeing.
And without it, even if the game freezes. The game is still loading in the background.
Just wait for the game to load. It will load eventually.
And or deflate your modpack by removing lots of mods that you don't need.
Or have a fast enough system to load a massive modpack.
You should never have more then 300 mods unless you know what your doing and or you have a fast enough system to handle it.
PLEASE STOP USING BETTER LOADING IT CAUSES SERIOUS ISSUES AND WILL BREAK LOTS OF MODS.
how do you figure that happining?
If it works for you that’s fine but if anything seriously breaks always remove better loading first
Also the speed up is more of placebo since when loading with better loading the game does not freeze at all while in the base game it will always freeze
Also running 800+ mods is a bad idea. I pray for your game performance. I recommend compressing that mod list down by at least 50%
a lot of people are saying it causes issues though i haven't had anything but it doesn't mean that there are no issues i will put a disclaimer in the description
BetterLoading is well known to cause serious issues due to it modifying how the game/mods are loaded.
Its generally advised not to use this mod due to such issues.
also its removal from the workshop was probably because the creator did not maintain it and the creator who made the mod now works for Ludeon Studios and there are theories that it was removed for public image reasons.
